Posting Unsubstantiated Rumours on this Website is Strictly Forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Micro-doping!

Its a new phrase to me!

It means: "players using tiny amounts of performance-enhancing substances such as testosterone and human growth hormone, which were undetectable".

Its the next big AFL issue and the AFL have no idea about it! http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/microdoping-next-challenge-for-afl-warns-player-agent-peter-jess-20150702-gi3tet.html

An interesting comment from Judd quoted in the article: "Therefore, the next generation of drug cheats will be caught via surveillance of gyms, anti-ageing clinics and internet purchases, not by urine or blood tests." His reference to anti-ageing clinics brings the whole EFC saga back into focus. Maybe the players were getting their micro-dope fix there!

The performance improvement for an athlete is significant: "The micro-doping in the VO2 max [fitness] test, on average, improved the athlete's results by a massive 6.1 per cent. In the 3000-metre run, there was an average improvement of 2.8 per cent."

It must be tempting for footballers (and other athletes) if they can't be found out.

EFC aside, before long we will be assuming that no sportsperson is clean.

A very sad day that will be.

Have a cry Jobe, jeez.

It's now dawned on him that he may never win a premiership and it's sucked the wind from his sails.

The contrast to one N. Jones couldn't be greater.

That may well be where hair testing comes to the fore. Lets hope so.

Maybe he really means not enjoying getting caught cheating, and not enjoying being coached by the perpetrator of this unconscionable act of human experimentation

I have already made that assumption in a few sports LH in fact I made it some years ago.

I rarely watch the Olympics and Cycling.

And while I know the majority of AFL footballers are clean it is obvious that there are substantial numbers who are not.

Only my love of the MFC keeps me involved in AFL at the top level.

I now assume all sports people may be involved. I just pray most are not.

Olympics are actually one of the cleanest arenas for sport. The number caught out of the thousands competing is very small, especially when you take into account that every medallist at every event is tested immediately after the event, and there are many random tests outside of that as well.

Lance Uppercut. I see on bigfooty you are arguing that's it's far fetched to suggest that News Ltd are running a campaign to push the Hird agenda.

If you think that's far fetched, then you don't know much about the world of Murdoch.

(Murdoch himself probably knows nothing and cares less about anything to do with Essendon.)

News constantly run campaigns against organisations and individuals, and it's not alway to do with Murdoch's bottom line. Sometimes it's just because. Take Robert Manne as an instance. Or anyone who crosses them generally.

A million more examples came out in the phone hacking scandal in Britain.

It is entirely believable that News would take up the cudgels on Hird's behalf.

Robbo especially. Has lost all credibility over his constant fawning over Hird during this entire time. It is obvious what it is as it lacks any resemblance to balanced and measured journalism. There is a very good reason for it that I got from a very good source, not able to say though as I don't think it would make it through legal.

I did not mention it Chris but the added farce/ corruption that is the "organization Commitee" adds to my problem with the Olympics.

Rotten to the Core. Of course the Soccer mob is the same.

Until there are substantial chances I have little involvement with either.

Why should I support wide spread corruption?

That is an entirely different argument to the first one you made, and I agree, the IOC is nearly as bad as FIFA/F1, with the AFL not far behind in my book.

That doesn't replace the fact the Olympics are actually very clean, which flies in the face of your first argument.

My point exactly... not to mention he is probably sensing that the WADA outcome could signal the end of his career.

Because the past is so tainted I don't trust any of them.

We will agree to disagree Chris.

Sorry, I probably have said more than I should and I don't want to break the confidence of a good friend, and risk a friend of theirs job.

Just know that there is more at play than what there appears.

I will have to leave it at that.

SCRUTINY & RESILIENCE by Whispering Jack

If the week when preseason training melds into scratch matches with other clubs, is the first marker for the beginning of a new season, then this has certainly been a torrid opener for the Melbourne Football Club in its campaign to remain a leading AFL premiership contender in 2024. The Demons were already under enormous scrutiny from the media and football’s fan base (including their own) after consecutive straight-sets finals exits, with Clayton Oliver’s well documented woes, the Joel Smi
