Hodge straight to tribunal

Lewis 3 weeks but can plead guilty and reduce to 2.

Dunn investigated for contact to Walters - dismissed

Garland investigated for contact to pavlich - dismissed

Head contact for Garland was absolutely accidental. Can't believe it was investigated

Happy we won't see Hodge or Lewis - not that it makes any difference..................

Is Pav's nose being investigated for it's hit on Garland?

Complete joke Garland was even looked at, only reason why is because it was Pav.

Sad thing is even without Hodge and Lewis we will still get pumped by the Hawks.

They will also be without Lake and Frawley which improves the odds and if we play for 120 min we can take it up to them.

It was investigated because a player was subbed out of the game as a result of the incident.

May offered 2 weeks as well - deservedly so in my opinion. Elected to bump and caught Rockliff in the head, can't believe people were actually calling it fair. Rockliff was subbed out straight away and went to hospital.

I was listening to the radio but it sounded like on the commentary that if anything it was Pavlich raising his arm into Garland. Haven't seen it but sounds very strange.

On Hodge and Lewis. I think 2 is fair for Lewis, reckless and stupid rather than malicious IMO. Hodge I'm kind surprised they didn't give him the same, 3 down to 2. I don't know that he meant to do exactly what he did, there was more intention but I don't know that it was much worse than Lewis. Maybe 3 given that it was out of play and instigated a pretty big melee.

Glad we won't have to deal with these guys but there are plenty more to be concerned with. They are racking up a fair list of outs though.

he'd have an uphill battle trying to prove it wasn't intentional

he even said he lost it and had a brain fade

...

Is that a rule? If so I wonder if it is being uniformly applied. (See what cynicism the AFL has engendered...)

Just read that Salem's concussion was a result of collision with a Freo player - did the Tribunal look at that?

Garland should use his nose more often...

One was an act of thuggery during play.

One was an act of thuggery during a stop in play.

Unfortunately Lou, we may be without Dawes, Jetta, Viney, Frost and the Garland concussion may come into effect. Sorry to dampen the parade. :(

So the Hakws will likely be without Lake, Frawley, Lewis and Hodge when we play them

If we get Viney back for that game we may be in with a show... so long as Sydney don't shatter our confidence this Saturday

1 week at a time.,.

Salem was flattened by a late hit to the back of the head by a guy twice his size after he marked the ball. No report, just 50m.

I feel a little more confident against Hawthorn than I did against Freo that we can cause an upset. God, beating Hawthorn would absolutely make my season.

no 50, just 35.

no 50, just 35.

That is because the umpire gifted them marks for ten metre kicks instead of fifteen. He has no concept of 'fifteen' hence the discrepancy.

Rubbish. They were both going for the ball and May tried to bump Rockliff during the chase. Absolutely standard conduct. Just unlucky he caught Rockliff in the head.

Two weeks for this while Lewis gets the same for an act of thuggery is crazy. Lewis should be getting three weeks if May takes two.

The mrp has been significantly better this year. So many rubbish inconsistent calls last year.

Brisbane should appeal and get May off. I didn't see much wrong with his bump, the fact a player us injured does dictate the punishment for me

I still don't like this 3 down to 2 early plea BS. If it's a two offence, it's 2 weeks. That's it. Call it like it is

If Garland got investigated then what about the late elbow to the back of the head for Salem? That was far closer to a reportable offence than Garland!

Couldn't agree more although I am happy we at least got a 50m penalty - that was some benefit to us. A tribunal decision doesn't help us at all.

The problem is you have ex players or people who used to be involved in clubs on the MRP- they should be neutral supporters, like the umpires are, otherwise the whole process is open to corruption, like we are seeing. Just another little aspect that makes this competition a joke really

Steven May getting anything, let alone 3 [censored] weeks for playing good football is ridiculous.

He should've got off just like Viney did last year.

Will they ever get this [censored] right?

It’s Pink Lady night at Princes Park — a vibey Friday evening setting for a high-stakes clash between second-placed Melbourne and eleventh-placed Essendon. The wind-sheltered IKON Park, a favourite ground of the Demon players, promises flair, fire and a touch of pink. Melbourne has never lost a home-and-away game here, though the ghosts of two straight-sets finals exits in 2023 still linger.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: # 1 Steven May

The premiership defender has shown signs of wear and tear due to age, and his 2025 season was inconsistent, ending poorly with a suspension and a noticeable decline in performance. The Demons are eager to integrate younger players onto their list and have indicated that they may not be able to guarantee him senior games next season, in what would be the final year of his contract.

The young key tall failed to make progress during the season, with a decline in his goal kicking output. His secondary role as a backup ruckman, which may have hindered his ability to further develop his game, and he was also impacted by the team's poor forward connection. It will be interesting to observe his performance under a new coaching regime.

  • 2025 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

Salem proved to be a valuable contributor as a reliable and solid one-on-one medium-sized defender in what was undoubtedly his most impressive season since the premiership year. He remains a highly capable rebounding option for the Demons as he approaches his 200th game at the club.
