Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Clarkson is truly a nut case, having punched a Power supporter after this weekends game. Footage is in the below link:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fiXMLXbIQ9o

To be fair, the supporter was riling him up (surprised there was no security around Clarkson) but his anger management issues got the better of him and he snapped. What will happen if losing becomes a little more regular for the Hawks!? Personally I'm glad that they will be embroiled in another issue because of their coach. Very happy we ended up with Roos and not Clarkson as seemed possible a couple of years ago.

Clarko got set up. Hence the phone footage that these thugs now want to sell.

It's only an issue because of attitudes like yours

No wonder coaches get paid such huge wages.

Looked like a set-up. The guy had been harassing Clarkson for a little while and was making a 'selfie' video of it. The guy got what he wanted...a reaction...(and some would say what he deserved) and only released the 10 secs of it that show Clarkson in a bad light. Looked like a slap rather than a punch.

Am not being a Clarkson apologist, nor am I fan. Clarkson, should not have reacted but the whole thing should be put in the full context.

Was the full clip longer than this footage? Thanks for clarifying.

Still, coaches and players cop this thing fairly regularly. He could have had the self control to walk off but he has got a history of this kind of thing!

No they don't. This wasn't random it was clearly set up with smartphone ready.

The AFL should do these guys for harassment.

Clarko should have broken the pr!cks nose.

There is a clip of the fox footy website and an interview with Stuart Fox where he says the guy and his mates (who were drunk) had been harassing Clarkson for a while on the way to the hotel. Stuart Fox and Fagan were walking to the hotel with Clarkson so they saw what happened. Not sure why they didn't do something earlier. Hard to tell but the video on fox footy looks like it is indoors (not sure whether inside the hotel or not). If so, how did the guy get into the hotel?

You are right clarko should have better control. Not setting a good example. Just hope the media don't make a great beat up about it and hang him out to dry.

Edit: correction - appears to have been on the way out of the oval rather than to/at the hotel

Sorry they do and have so for a long time. Well before smart phones.

AFL has no power over the general public outside the realms of a game venue.

And Clarkson breaking the guys nose only puts him on a lower plain that the idiot who taunted him.

Clubs spend time with players trying to teach them how to deal with goons in the public. They should extend it to coaches.

While I sympathise with the situation Clarkson was in being harassed, his response was not the smartest.

No. You do not understand.

This is a complete set up so that a few drunken thugs get their 15 minutes of fame.

This will be Back Page Herald Scum tomorrow

They love it.

Clarko is well within his rights of harassment to put the guy in his place.

It's pretty simple, if you don't want someone to punch you then don't follow them around and harass them. This is analogous to the playground situation where an idiot instigates a fight with another kid and the other kid puts him down - In this case the kid who puts him down shouldn't get in trouble. I hope the guy tries to sue and the magistrate throws it out and tells the guy he is an idiot for trying to rile up Clarkson.

They would have no fame if Clarko hadn't punched the guy.

I can see the defence to assaults now, this guy annoyed me so I hit him.

If you think Clarko had the right to hit a bloke who hadn't touched him and was clearly a drunken moron, you are dreaming.

What if every player did that, in similar circumstances?

Would Roos have reacted in the same manner?

They are both in the wrong. Clarko shouldn't have to cop that shite, but at the same time he should have handled it better.

Interestingly, in both interviews on fox and 7 he was nowhere near remorseful, almost went out of his way to avoid an apology.

Nor should he apologise. What a bloody tool that Port fan is. I'm not a massive fan of Clarkson (and can't stand Hawthorn) but if someone was carrying on like that to me for 40 metres I'd shove him away as well. It's not like he punched him in the nose

Nope... saw Clarko interviewed in the break on Foxtel and apparently it was in the lane that runs next to the hotel they were staying in. The guys (3 or 4 of them, all drunk) had been harassing him for approximately 40 metres and that footage just records the last small part of it. He was well within his rights to react the way he did.

Redleg - the point is Clarkson didn't hit him and I think his response was appropriate. I think a light shove is proportionate and warranted given the circumstances. As a society we should be questioning why a group of drunken adults are harassing a person for no valid reason, not whether a light shove could cause personal injury.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
