Unlike you Werridee I understand football and know what I’m taking about.

Keep on telling yourself that. Hogan was on the trade table and nobody wanted him. VERY BELIEVABLE

I just can’t fathom why some people even bother to post such disruptive comments following a win.

What are you looking to achieve?

Nothing, I don’t post here to achieve anything, I’m sure you can tell that by any of my previous posts..majority of my posts are throwaway at best.

I shouldn’t have posted it in hindsight. My mistake...it’s just been playing on my mind. I want nothing more than for Jesse to stay with us.

You get shot down in this place no matter what you add anyway..

Goodnight.

No, but anyway.

Don’t know why I bother with this joint. Provide some info and get shot down.

A couple of points:

To you it's good info, to everyone else it's information from somebody called "Beetle" and we have no way of judging the veracity of it other than your word. It's not personal, but people are entitled to be sceptical. We have seen a *lot* of this type of information before and it varies from correct, to a mangled chinese whisper, to an outright lie. Often the poster could be correctly relaying what they heard but their source got the wrong end of the stick.

Secondly, people will be doubtful about this particular item because it just sounds unlikely after the year he had. On top of that, it beggars belief that no other club would be interested.

There's no need to get pissy about it when people question your post, it is inevitable and perfectly reasonable for that to happen. Try to understand a little bit where people are coming from.

113 goals in 53 games.  Higher goal average than the great David Neitz and a fraction behind Jeff Farmer, which could change as early as next week.

Let the goals rain down.

I couldn’t care less personally.

This came from a current player...maybe your info is better than mine. Congrats.

Love the prolonged defensive efforts, not to mention sarcastically mocking someone for having exactly as much cred as yourself.

Mate, if you don't care, just let it be.

Club tried to trade him at the end of last year and it didn’t sit well with him.

Glad he’s started this year so well. Hopefully all wounds have healed.

How interesting: who told you? Another player! Well that’s interesting because unless it was someone who had an in with the selectors (maybe Jones or Viney) they wouldn’t know.

The club tried to trade him and we heard nothing! With a couple of dozen reporters desperate for any football news in the off season, such a story as this would have been sensational. No one would be able to keep it quiet: but we heard nothing!

And of course if the club tried to trade him - he would be gone!!!                                                 There are maybe a dozen clubs who would (figuratively) lick their lips at the thought of snaring Jesse

Any way - thanks for the prank!

I would say this was Hogan’s best game so far on the back of steady improvement over the past year despite some setbacks. The things that really irked me in the past like sooky attitude, lack of pressure and wobbly skills are nearly all gone. Now an important cog in the machine and not a sideshow.  Still needs work on set shots and injury concerns seem to crop up too often. But this could be his big breakout season.

It simply goes against everything that has been said, or even intimated.  Resigning to the Dees, the issues and support last year, what he has said, was the coach has said.  He was untradable last year, confirmed by the Club and Jesse.

it is difficult to marry that up with ā€˜a current player said ā€˜.  Unfortunately, as honest as you may want to appear, it looks like an April fools troll.

what can you offer to substantiate your claim?

It happens at every club every year.   Putting feelers out.

Sometimes its dunn to put a rocket under a player, who is coasting along. So mostly, not serious in those occasions.

Players most times do not know when a club puts feelers out, Re the player.

But other clubs can try the wedge the player, telling them their club is shopping them.

It happens a lot and not many deals get done.

I am Jesse Hogan.

I love the MFC.

I'd love to play here til I'm 35.

I know this because I spoke with him at training and Jesse said ...

Er, oh well, [censored] it. My cover's up

Fake news. I saw him smile last night.

I got told that Eade was coming to coach us from someone that really should be in the know. A week later we hired Neeld. That's not to say that what they said was BS, just that maybe the water cooler talk was furphy stuff.

I also find it a little hard to imagine that a Caro or a Barrett wouldn't have got wind and peed in their pants as they rushed to break the story.

If they reported every whisper of clubs feelers, at end of season, they would end up with no cred, because most of these feelers end up with nothing happening, because the players club isn't serious; but want to create a little insecurity in lazy player X. Ttrying to shake them out of lethargy.

See Watts at end of Roos 2nd season, Watts dropped for last game. Whispers about watts trade scenarios's.

Watts 3rd Roosy season is a beaut. Sign contract extension.

Goody's first year and watts is back to not Putin-in, again.  ta-ta.

It happens. every end of year.

ā€œExpertsā€ like Karl Langdon and Brad Hardie said he was a certainty to go to Freo before he signed a contract extension last time as well

Its not just clubs that play mind-games with players & put out feelers, Its also player managers at contract time, to threaten clubs for more dollars.

And you know this because it was in the media. You can't tell me with a straight face that if one journo got wind of Jesse being shopped we wouldn't have seen it the next day. WA media would have climbed all over it.

To be fair to Beetle, I’ve got a mate working at AFL Media and he was quite certain that Hogan was going to be the story of last years’ trade period.

that said, I’m glad it didn’t work out and he’s still with us and firing on all cylinders.

this was an interesting article however

I believe it because I know that it occurs.

And when someone comes out in this forum, saying just that, via a player's information.  I take that with respect.

The poster is putting themselves in the firing line. Going out on the limb.  There was no malice in the post, nor was there a hint of trying to be disruptive.  Just honesty.

The more honest we all are, the less this sort of games-playing behind the scenes, will occur.

Its not the messenger that is at fault.  Its the deceptive games played in business;,, that is the Fault.

As Goodwin stated earlier this year, the Hogan going back to WA/trade talk is inevitable and will pop up in one way or another every single year.

@Beetle is probably telling his version of the truth, but with Chinese whispers the messages can be incorrectly interpreted.  And not necessarily from Beetle.

Players don't know everything that's going on.  And some information they get told may be incorrect, or have been misinterpreted.  Anyone remotely familiar with second or third hand information knows how wrong it can be down the line.

I don't believe Hogan was on the trade table, but I also don't believe Beetle is lying.  Both stances can coexist.

'Roost It', a poster with excellent and highly accurate club intel posted these in during last year's trade period:

"spoke to my man today regarding Hogan. Was told he's not part of the untradeables but only leaving for absolute top dollar. His management are adamant he's happy in Melbourne and that he'll remain a Dee for quite some time".  and

"There's 6 players deemed untradeable by Goodwin and co".

So 'Beetle's' info is very probably right about Hogan being available for trade - we just didn't get the 'offer we couldn't refuse' for Hogan.

And I am very happy about that - love him and the way he is playing.

Struggling to get to 6 without including Hogan. Jones, Viney, Gawn, Oliver, Petracca... Hogan?

  • PREVIEW: Richmond

A few years ago, the Melbourne Football Club produced a documentary about the decade in which it rose from its dystopic purgatory of regular thrashings to the euphoria of a premiership victory. That entire period could have been compressed in a fast motion version of the 2025 season to date as the Demons went from embarrassing basket case to glorious winner in an unexpected victory over the Dockers last Saturday. They transformed in a single week from a team that put in a pedestrian effort of predictably kicking the ball long down the line into attack that made a very ordinary Bombers outfit look like worldbeaters into a slick, fast moving side with urgency and a willingness to handball and create play with shorter kicks and by changing angles to generate an element of chaos that yielded six goals in each of the opening quarters against Freo.

  • NON-MFC: Round 07

Round 7 gets underway in iconic fashion with the traditional ANZAC Day blockbuster. The high-flying Magpies will be looking to solidify their spot atop the ladder, while the Bombers are desperate for a win to stay in touch with the top eight. Later that evening, Fremantle will be out to redeem themselves after a disappointing loss to the Demons, facing a hungry Adelaide side with eyes firmly set on breaking into the top four. Saturday serves up a triple-header of footy action. The Lions will be looking to consolidate their Top 2 spot as they head to Marvel Stadium to clash with the Saints. Over in Adelaide, Port Adelaide will be strong favourites at home against a struggling North Melbourne. The day wraps up with a fiery encounter in Canberra, where the Giants and Bulldogs renew their bitter rivalry. Sunday’s schedule kicks off with the Suns aiming to bounce back from their shock defeat to Richmond, taking on the out of form Swans. Then the Blues will be out to claim a major scalp when they battle the Cats at the MCG. The round finishes with a less-than-thrilling affair between Hawthorn and West Coast at Marvel. Who are you tipping and what are the best results for the Demons?

  • REPORT: Fremantle

For this year’s Easter Saturday game at the MCG, Simon Goodwin and his Demons wound the clock back a few years to wipe out the horrible memories of last season’s twin thrashings at the hands of the Dockers. And it was about time! Melbourne’s indomitable skipper Max Gawn put in a mammoth performance in shutting out his immediate opponent Sean Darcy in the ruck and around the ground and was a colossus at the end when the game was there to be won or lost. It was won by 16.11.107 to 14.13.97. There was the battery-charged Easter Bunny in Kysaiah Pickett running anyone wearing purple ragged, whether at midfield stoppages or around the big sticks. He finish with a five goal haul.

  • CASEY: UWS Giants

The Casey Demons took on an undefeated UWS Giants outfit at their own home ground on a beautiful autumn day but found themselves completely out of their depth going down by 53 points against a well-drilled and fair superior combination. Despite having 15 AFL listed players at their disposal - far more than in their earlier matches this season - the Demons were never really in the game and suffered their second defeat in a row after their bright start to the season when they drew with the Kangaroos, beat the Suns and matched the Cats for most of the day on their own dung heap at Corio Bay. The Giants were a different proposition altogether. They had a very slight wind advantage in the opening quarter but were too quick off the mark for the Demons, tearing the game apart by the half way mark of the term when they kicked the first five goals with clean and direct football.
