Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Worked his backside off all night and finished with 20 disposals 12 marks 5 tackles 4 goals 1 behind - couldn't ask for a more well-rounded game from a CHF.

And their was no sulking and he made more 'second efforts'.  Showing growth and maturity as a 'team' player.

Loved the 'Shirley Bassey' type move where a gentle flick of his hips nudged his op (Dawson?) out of the contest to take an easy mark!

He needs 22 goals in 7 games to hit 60 for the season. What hes already done is amazing, but to hit 60 would be something else for a 21 year old key forward,  who is already the main man and is sent the oppositions #1 key defender each week.

We have a superstar on our hands.

That bump on Dawson was hilarious. It was like playing on a cardboard cut out.

What made it so easy though, was that Jesse had worked Dawson so bloody hard he could hardly breathe, so had nothing left to give. Our boy is getting smarter about how to play the game all the time

LOL, bb

My high school end of year bash was at the Espy with Shirley Bassey the star performer.  She called for a volunteer to sit on the stool next to her while she sang 'Big Spender'.  One of my class mates obliged. When she did her hip flick, he and the stool went flying.  It was hysterical and to this day gives me a great laugh.

Dawson went flying last night, just as easily as my inebriated class mate.  Dawson was equally hysterical!!

Thought I'd bump this thread now that Jesse is committed and we're beginning to see positive articles in the media like this one.

These comments in particular warmed the cockles of my heart;

"Being away from family and friends was something I was going to have to sacrifice, but in the end it's worth it," he said.

"We're building something special at this club and if I was to potentially leave and to miss that and watch these boys achieve whatever they achieve ... it would be pretty hard for me to watch."

Really great signs. I'm generally not one to remind posters who make what i consider to be completely wrong player assessments but geez i'll be tempted to do so to those posters who made comments before he re-signed along the lines of him being over rated, we can cover him, he is too one dimensional (really?), he's good but not great  etc etc.

I say again the last player to come tor Melbourne with comparable talent and impact was David Schwarz pre knee injuries.  If he can avoid injury i have no doubt whatsoever he will be our first superstar since Flower.

And what is exciting is that i don't think the Trac is far behind.

Poised to have a massive year. I've heard he has done so much work to develop his tank. This will not only allow him to lead for longer, but also improve his set shots being less fatigued.

There was one short comment somewhere that his run up stutter has changed a bit.

Have you had a chance to watch his set shot routine? Can you or anyone else comment on the efficiency of any change?

I have been watching some of the highlights from this season on utube- one thing I noticed was the affinity between Hoges and Jack Watts. They feed each other and seem to know where the other is going. It's also obvious they are great mates. Lip-smackingly good.

I loved watching that last year. It happened in the first game of the year against GC where Watts brought Hogan into the game in the last quarter and they both got us the win.

Watts is as good as kick to a leading forward as there is in a game. I rewatched the final 10 minutes vs Hawthorn last week, Watts' kicking to a leading forward is near on perfect. Low, fast and cuts the angles beautifully. He also allows the forward to come meet the ball which a lot of AFL players haven't mastered and makes it much harder for defenders to intercept the ball.

Hogan can also drag a defender out of the space when they both find themselves deep to allow Watts a mismatch as he often finds himself on smaller opponents for minutes at a time. Great dynamic between the 2.

Beep test/shuttle run

=9 14-2 Jesse Hogan WA

3km time trial result (mins:secs)

=10 10:20 Jesse Hogan WA

He was damn good before being drafted. Running was seen as one of his great strengths. It it has improved by any stretch, he will harder to match up on than Riewoldt.

Bump!

For the reason, that watching Roughy tonight, reminds me of Jesse as a player. Not a dominant lead up forward but certainly has that capability, mobile and cat like at marking contest, can roam long and wide up the ground and can definitely go through the gutz when needed.

Looking forward to Hoges hitting the scoreboard again this weekend.

Nice comparison, reads the ball as well in the air as Rough, that's for sure, if he has four premierships by the time he's 28 I'll be a super happy little Demon

20 goals in 4 career games vs the Lions.  Thats good for 5 goals per game.

Melbourne 4-0 in those games.

Damn it feels good to have a superstar key forward again.  Will kick 60+ goals this season, injury permitting.  He has serious competition for an AA guernsey but he can get there.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
