Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Cripps is worthy, hogan has had an amazingly consistent start to the year. He will get one at some point, so will Bradshaw. Is vandenberg eligible? Is he too old?

I don't really care if any of our players will the award. It's not really that important is it? Hogan and Bradshaw will have fantastic Careers and probably be greats of our club. I for one can't wait for the next decade.

If Hogan continues to kick 2-3 goals a game and take 2-3 contested marks a game, he is every chance of winning the thing at the end of the year.

He's also a chance to be a bloody star, so who cares either way. We don't need a token award to know he is awesome.

Again, awarded to a player excelling against a pitiful team.

Good on him, sure, but I stand by my belief that the players that should be rewarded are the ones that put up incredible performances against actual contenders. Brisbane are a basket case.

Initially I backed Cripps at $12.

Then I went hard at Brayshaw at $30 plus.

Now I've went back and unloaded on Brayshaw recently at $21.

I think from now until the years out I will just smash Brayshaw in until he is at $2.

Pretty straight forward for me, I think it is a 2 players race.

Hogan won't get the supply IMO, Heeney has had his game time in the midfield, McCarthy has played weak teams, he'll struggle to kick goals each week.

The only dangers I see to Brayshaw, is Cripps. I think at $21, Brayshaw is an absolute lock for rising star. Cripps is into $4, some value still.

I don't think you could go wrong with those 2. Even outside dangers in Dom Sheed, have slowed down, the pace of AFL has caught up with him.

Broomhead, while capable of taking the award out, isn't getting the game time in the middle that Cripps and even Brayshaw is getting.

But I would watch him the next couple of weeks just incase.

It was a player from a pitiful team excelling against an equally pitiful team... so it was a level playing field and he was a worthy winner. Let's see how our potential rising stars go against the Lions before we play down Saad's performance.

That's exactly what it is Jaded.

The NAB rising star award is meaningless and whimsical. I'd take more pride in being nominated for a Logie.................... (ok, maybe i took it a little too far there, but you get the gist)

I still can't believe the amateur way they decide this award. You could have someone be by far and away the best rookie of the year who ends up only being the second best rookie every single round and doesn't receive his nomination because of it. I know they might say they'll get their nomination eventually, but what if they get injured in round 19? It's just so ridiculous.

By all means, feel free to shine the spotlight on a rookie with some sort of rookie of the week honour, but don't restrict the award in this way.

Brayshaw has been solid but clearly the bookies are paying more attention to the marking and goal kicking of Jesse Hogan. He's down from $9.00 to $5.50. Both of them will need to step up at some point to get the nomination, which as you point out pantaloons, is a dodgy system. Hogan needs to kick a bag or Brayshaw needs 20 touches and ~10 tackles. At the moment I feel like Brayshaw is flying under the radar a bit outside of MFC circles.

KingDingAling, why are you so quick to write off Heeney?

Because Tom Mitchell is back, he is a better midfielder, McVeigh is seeing more time, Parker will be in there, Kennedy, McGlynn, Hanners, Jack, possibly Lloyd.

I just think Heeney will see limited time in the midfield, at least compared to Cripps, and to a lesser extent Brayshaw.

But, I reckon Brayshaw is already climbing over some of our second tier mids, since Brayshaw has moved past the sub vest, he has shown he is capable of being our 3rd mid/change.

It is only round 6, there is still a long way to go. I just like Cripps and Brayshaw over the course of the season.

To be honest I'm expecting Saad to win it based upon season thus far. He's been very good in a pretty disappointing side.

Brayshaw, Hogan both looking good and vandenBerg impressive but just a year too old.

fgs andrew, we're only 5 games in and you've made up your mind

Hogan has gotta be a red hot chance of being this weeks nominee

Nah there will be a Bog average young midfielder for a winning team who got 25 cheap possessions up for it. Oh hold on we won, you might be on the money. The nomination usually goes to the team who plays us, not this week.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
