Roos has thrown a few more names into the mix for Saturday:

"Although much of the selection talk has been about the likely inclusion of key forward Chris Dawes ... and Bernie Vince...Roos said there were others in the mix...he said midfielder Viv Michie had a “really good game” in the VFL last week and ruckman Jake Spencer was “starting to push up” for selection. He added that several others were staking their claims. “Maxy Gawn has been solid through the pre-season as well and Jordie McKenzie hasn’t done a lot wrong either..."

They could just be the Master's musings and to keep all the players on their toes but its good to know that their are quite a few players ready to step up. Would have liked to see Jack Grimes get a mention in the Master's Musings. Looks like he has more work to do and has slipped down the line a bit.

Edit:Tyson said he expected Chris Dawes (suspension) and Bernie Vince (hamstring) to be named this week after missing round one.

Toumpas and JKH dropped.

Vince and Dawes in.

didnt see that coming !! :rolleyes :

So after 5 days and 25 pages of discussions, it looks as though the match committee went with the consensus decision with those two changes.

Utterly logical changes as espoused by most.

Brayshaw was never going to be dropped. Imagine a first-gamer laying 9 tackles in 3 quarters and Roos dropping him. Roos' led teams have always valued tackles. It would have been a crazy message. Not to mention Brayshaw makes us better.

One could argue no-one deserved to be dropped, but that's life.

Smart man Paul Roos.

First time in a long time that I have actually really cared about the outs and ins!

Yep pretty stiff with JKH but happy with the changes. Interesting to see where Frost plays (we will have a fairly tall forward/backline).

Reckon Spencer will travel north with the team? If he does, I'd expect a late change to bring him in.

Otherwise I'd be taking JKH, who I thought was good last week and is the unlucky one to miss out.

Very tough for JKH, but like everyone else I agree it seemed the right option.

First thing I want this week is to see that stupid moustache wiped off that McCarthy's face, bloke rubs me the wrong way. Looks like a complete plonker. He's in the Ben Brown category for me.

After last weeks win it would have been harsh to drop anyone. We all predicted Toumpas would be one and obviously now the other is JKH, but just look who we bought back. Vince and Dawes. It just makes our team look so much stronger and better.

Disappointed for JKH.... he did some great things last week. Hope he uses this as motivation to get even better.

The team looks even better than Round 1.

Agreed. Simple observation. This is a stronger/better team than last week.

If Spencer were to come in then the late change would have to be for a tall, otherwise we would be far too top heavy.

Michie is the traveling emergency IMO so JKH gets another run with Casey.

What a wonderful thing - there is agreement, comradeship and even love on Dland tonight. I imagine a balmy day, a green field and Dlanders in flowing feathery robes wearing garlands of spring flowers. C and B and Wiseblood dancing around a maypole, embracing. Saty sitting with his friends (well alone). Stuie on the sidelines trying, but not quite being loved. Ahh the beauty of it .............

Fox panel thinks our forward line will be top heavy now, and fiddling with our forward line after that win may be a mistake.

I like that our three key forwards are all very different, watts has speed and skill, Dawes works as hard as any forward and hogan is a contested beast

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
