This might be the reason why we were touted as being keen on McCartin in last years draft

What, we knew someone was likely to stand on Hogan's foot?

Ok, He got a run in the NAB now please just rest him until the real season!!

The guy hasn't played for 12 months. He showed promise on the weekend but his timing looked out and his touch and match fitness will improve. He'll probably miss this week by the sounds of it but I'd play him in both of the remaining two Nab games if he's fit. He needs the match practice. And we need him up and about if we're a chance against the Suns. This cotton wool, alarmist mentality is disturbing.

Too risky then as well, wrap him up in Cotten wool till next year I say. Then give him a run in next years NAB and if he has another hot spot issue, rest him again for a year. Can't be too cautious on this guy. He could get to the end of his contract with just half a dozen NAB highlights. But at least we have managed him well.

Really, we all need to calm the [censored] down. The bloke is sweet. Nothing to see. Got a bad boot on top of his food, probably got a nice lump and bruise. The Doc wanted it looked at. Had it looked at. All is clear. Move on

Hogan is one really good thing going for us, we are all waiting for him to tear up the MCG, kick a bag, take a couple of big pack marks and we all walk out of the G after a good win against a decent team with our heads held high singing "it's a grand old flag" .

Another injury would be torture for us.

But It is likely that it will happen this year and we might have to watch him on the sidelines for another season.

Wow that's a great idea, maybe you should be our list manager?!

I suspect these sorts of scans and tests are done to lots of players throughout the year without gaining any attention in the media whatsoever...unless the player in question actually has an injury which might require him to miss games.

Posted

I worry about whether we'll ever get to seem him on the park.

Been quite the ideal to get him actually play one league game at the moment.

I know classic MFCSS, it whatever it's called.

Posted

Obviously relieving to hear he is fine, but seriously, wtf. How unlucky can the bloke be?!

Look at someone like Jones and I honestly can't remember him being in doubt for a game because of inury. He just doesn't get injured.

Then you get a young promising talent who takes a year to get over a serious back injury, and upon return someone stands on his foot which is serious enough to require scans..

All I can hope is that there is no trend emerging here.

It's hard to relax with all the 'luck' we've received over the past few seasons.

Lol. Wouldn't a Hogan foot injury be the funniest thing. If it wasn't already obvious, the footy gods are *clearly* taking the [censored] out of us now.

Interesting, you don't get censored but when you are quoted it does.

No way his playing this week.. Just saw him hobbling across the footbridge from the G

and the sky is falling once again...

why dont you elaborate a little? I mean he is walking so that is good for starters..he wasnt on crutches i take it? I have hobbled because of a blister before.

I suspect that if we had not had our recent run of foot injuries, or the Hogan back incident last preseason, this would not even have made a scan.

Sounds to me like someone stepped on him, he has a bruise/tender spot and they scanned as utmost precaution.

If it is still bruised come next weekend, they'll give him a week off because, hey, who cares if he misses a practice match.

Yeah I think he might be hypersensitive to the slightest niggle at the moment. If he can get a few games under his belt his focus on his body will hopefully decrease.

I'd be praying for no trend it the scans DID find a problem. As it stands we took him for precautionary scans (he is our most valuable asset) and they came up fine as expected.

These sort of carefree approaches to Hogans delicate disposition annoy me. Why are you rushing him ? I would put him on ice until we are in the premiership window and then only give him a run two weeks before the finals so he is cherry ripe - he could be our Clark Keating..

I think all players should take up surfing, paddling around in the cold waters of Victoria can only be good for the body and muscles.

Ha! Except if you cut your foot while surfing and are forced to miss training?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
