Dude we follow Melbourne.

And? We might have been a mess a while back, but not anymore. We're very secure off the field, our coaching team is well entrenched and we are looking positive going forward. Plus we don't have WADA hanging over our heads.

No need to be negative for negative's sake.

I don't wish to sound uncharitable, but Craig has this slightly pathetic aura these days.

I remember him once saying he couldn't coach any club other than Adelaide, such was his love for the Camrys. Now he just seems to [censored] himself around these days as he desperately tries to remain in the industry.

his role at EFC included a one page email called Craig's Corner which was surprisingly similar to the email he would send out from the MFC containing obvious statements and meaningless waffle.

It would be difficult for the club to say anything at this stage which only adds to our collective nervousness.

People forget that Macca actually stepped down from the Senior Coach position at the Dogs whereas it's widely reported he was sacked. It would be (hypothetically) interesting to know how the Dogs would've performed under him this year given the plaudits he receives from most of his past players and coaches he's worked with.

That's what's disappointing me the most. His reputation in development is exemplary and which makes him a perfect fit at a crucial time for the MFC.

But, if he wants to have a the crack at a senior coach gig you can't begrudge a bloke of that.

That's just a nicer way to say he was sacked...

KB & Fatrick still think Worsfold a certainty

Perfect man for Essendon . Learnt the craft in the drug- filled culture of West Coast under Cousins captaincy ...

Just want Macca to stay with us

I don't believe this to be the case.

well how about putting up an argument as to why he wasn't sacked/forced out

I can't see the point.

Just consider it an opinion.

You're super disappointed if we lose anyone. I can't recall seeing you ever say it was a good thing to see xyz go....

If we kept everyone we would be a mediocre side for many more years to come. When we lose players, assistant coaches etc it allows us to improve the side. That's what its all about.

Yep - it'd simply be really good news for this club to lose McCartney right now.

Have no issue with any of the delisting to date this year. Was very disappointed Cross didn't get another year. Still am.

What was generous about it?

in your description of us as an attractive target vs our competitors

very secure off the field - what, with our near-league-lowest membership base?

our coaching team is well entrenched - our coach is leaving and the next is untried

looking positive going forward - what, on field? We've got Viney, Brayshaw and Hogan at the moment and that's about it, the rest are just hopefuls

there is also the fact that we play to small crowds on sunday nights and get zero respect from the footy world

call it negative but it's the truth and you know it

I would call it negative and no, it's not the truth.

We are secure off the field. While our membership base is low, no argument there, we are doing well financially and are sitting as well as we have in a long time.

Our coaching team is very well entrenched. Yes, Roos is finishing up next year but he has improved the list, the culture and our professionalism since he has been here. The players know that Goodwin will be taking over and he is well respected in the industry. He is untried, yes, but that doesn't make it a negative.

And we look positive going forward. You can add Jones, Vince, Tyson, McDonald, Salem, Garlett, Vandenberg, Gawn and so forth to that list above as players who will make a big difference for us.

We still have plenty of work to do, but the comment I responded to of 'dude, we go for Melbourne' is rubbish. We've come a long way and we are above that sort of stuff.

You are definitely right that we can mount a better argument now, than we could back in the Bailey/Neeld apocalypse - BUT the question is still 'us vs our competitors' withe regard to attracting coaches and players

I'm not being contrary for the sake of it, it just feels like you are claiming some sort of resurgence has already happened on the back of a 7 win season and Jesse Hogan

I on the other hand still have a very uneasy feeling about what went on from rounds 13-22 this year, and the fact we really have no idea if Goodwin is another Neeld or not

Id rather he stays. He has much to offer this club and i would think have quite a career as that here at the Dees.

Is he that ambitious he's blind to the 'rabble' nature that is now Essendon.

Im thinking /hoping that in cold light of day he will follow sense.

Woosha wouldn't have burnt his bridge at the Crows if he didn't have a handshake agreement at essendon. Besides, only a masochistic would want to take the helm at essendon. Think Melbourne neeld era. Whoever takes the gig is in for some serious pain.

Stretch senior posted nothing but praise for McCartney on facebook.

I noticed Senior posts a bit on the MFC Facebook page. Also noticed Prestia's dad does too.

That's probably it then. He seemed a bit older and had the surname Prestia, so I was probably speculating a little too much. I'd say you're right.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
