A lot of the time if a certain player is part of a club I really dislike I find it quite hard to get past their jumper/colours. In saying that i love how these players attack the ball and create time and space for themselves and in turn their use of the footy:

A few of the new Dogs players - McRae and Bontempelli, plus Luke Hodge, Bradley Hill, Rioli, Luke Parker, Jeremy Cameron, Tex Walker, Ollie Wines, Wingard, Sloan and Fyfe.

I used to have great admiration for James Hird. The operative word in the sentence is USED.

I was also of the view that G. Ablett was overrated at Geelong and made by those around him. Could not have been more wrong. Since heading North he has been extraordinary both as a role model and magnificent footballer.

I honestly envied cat supporters.

I went to the G to see Gary Ablett play all the time. Maybe it was just me. But I saw Richmond supporters applaud him when he was stuck on a wing and the Geelong coach obviously had said feed Gavin Excel at FF.

He beat 2 teams to kick 14 and it seemed he wasnt showing off just playing as best he could.

Joel Selwood. Not only for his football ability, but for the huge number of girls he has bonked down my way (Geelong) who are both single and with boyfriends. Every second girl down here has a Joel Selwood story ✌️

Just racking up the future father-son prospects.

I took an American visitor to that game Frankie and he was hooked from that moment. I remember watching Ablett climb on a Richmond player's back and take an amazing mark in the centre. He was a freak. Kicked crazy goals that day. Just about the best individual performance I have seen. Edited by Moonshadow

Riewoldt definitely, GAJ is my favourite non-dee, Robbie Gray and Kieran Jack close behind. Port as a club also

Jimmy Bartel for me. GAJ is amazing to watch as well. In the past I loved to watch Buddha Hocking, Darren Jarman and Brett Ratten. Hird also was a favourite. Very sad story James Hird. What a fall from greatness.

Back when I lived in Melbourne and had an MCC membership I'd drop in and watch games for the hell of it. I was lucky enough to see the Garry Ablett show that day. He was unstoppable. Best game I've seen anyone play.

Funnily enough I was talking about this game to someone last night as we talked about the best we've seen. And then this pops up.

Thought id try something different. Its all fair to say we respect the likes of Nathan Jones and Daniel Cross for their genuine leadership and work ethic on and off the field for us but what about other clubs?

My two are Andrew Swallow and Gary Ablett jnr. Both very respected and humble off field i just love the way they go about their footy.

both just absolutely top blokes and not a hint of arrogance at all.

this decade, mitchell, Hodge, sellwood, bartel; former scarlett, o'keefe, Kirk, whelan, neitz, schwartz, jnr McDonald

Roughhead & Buddy, was so much better when Buddy was at Hawks, those 2 together were amazing. Hill, runs all day and so skilled. Judd.

Mind you, shockingly inaccurate. Kicked 7 behinds that day...to go with his 14 goals. Just imagine any of our players having 21 shots for goal in just one game.

Is this the same G. Ablett that lied to the Cats about leaving and then accepted a huge contract from a development club? And are these the same people who continually bag Tom Scully for doing the same by going to the Giants (and delivering a huge bonus to us in the process).

Bob Murphy, Paddy Dangerfield and Nathan Fyfe for me. I like watching Sculls too and thank him every time I do.

Gary Ablett Jr. Not just for the way he carries himself and his current output. It's mostly because he tended to train like his Dad but the penny finally did drop and he now shades Wayne Carey as the greatest player I have ever seen.

During the Neeld years I'd pop the champers if any of our players got 21 touches,

happy to be proven incorrect but I recall GAJ being exactly the opposite and saying nothing - never committed to the cats - never said he was staying - continually touted the " will discuss at the end of the season - just want to play footy".

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
