I do like the crest with Jimmy & Sir Robert in it.

Have current players in the rest. Nathan Jones and the best players from the previous round? (That will keep you busy.)

Acknowledging BB's excellent post on Neeta, I'd be happy to have just Chunk and Tulip either side of big Jim. The two players who have kept us going during the club's darkest days.

Chunk and Tulip.

Chunky Tulip.

I think I just found my new Supercoach name.

& PJ the fab 4

the re-builders of this once great old Club. this is enough...................................

I agree- I definitely believe that Peter Jackson deserves be a part of the banner.

He is probably the best administrator we've had in decades!!

As for the players,I've gone for Tyson and as a recruit , Lamumba.

No, it's for the players. PJ has done some great work but he isn't risking his neck on the field for our amusement. I forgot to add Lucas Cook, aka "The Cookie Monster" *cringe

That's a fair point, but at the same time he is still a part of the club and is doing a superb job.

As for your banner of shame- Lucas Cook definitely deserves to be there!!!!

I see your Lucas Cook and raise you a Luke Molan

PS In googling 'luke molan' I came across this:

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/from-david-schwarz-to-mitch-clark-with-plenty-inbetween-melbournes-forward-stocks-have-had-a-cursed-run/story-fni5f91a-1226879199657

can you believe the anti-melbourne tone of that article ("when they tried to tank games" as if that is a fact), and the overall sense of 'rubbing it in' and basking in the glory of our misfortune... and the quoted comments by Schwarz himself, raking us over the coals suggesting karma has given us what we deserve! How can a 'news' article even discuss the existence of karma, suggesting some poor kid getting a bad run of injury has some 'cosmic' link to how Bailey and Connolly MAY have 'managed' the end of a particular season, FMD! Uneffingbelievable! I missed this at the time, but I now count 5 or 6 occasions over the last decade or so where Schwarz has publicly sledged the club in egregious fashion. Can you even name ONE other former 'champion' of a club who goes out of his way to sledge his former organisation. Can you imagine Riccuito, for example, being quoted in that fashion in commenting on the Crows? Does Schwarz hate this club or what? F him. /end rant

My favourite line -

"In 2011 indigenous marvel Liam Jurrah would kick 40 goals as a budding superstar who had to be benched when they tried to tank games, so easily did he conjure a goal".

Just wow.

Back on topic. The start of the new banner looks great. I like Jimmy and Robbie where they are. Keep the main section for the current players and possibly Roo's. Good stuff.

Isn't it sad that N.Jones, Jamar and Dunn are basically the only players on our list who have played their careers at the MFC and can be trusted to go out every week and be solid AFL-worthy senior players. We have Cross, Vince and Lumumba also but we had to import them. It shows just how badly we have failed to manage our list and build a side. When you consider the corresponding groups at the top clubs you realise that this is the whole reason we stink

and those 3 were all in the gun sites of us supporters at different times to be removed from this club... & they have continued to hang on, & grow.

& the love childs are still kiddy players.

neither did Jim Cardwell, but he was instrumental in our power years. as was 'Checker' Hughes who didn't play in RednBlue. but he gave first breath to the Demons.

I voted Viney.

He'll Captain this club eventually. Quite possibly after Jonesy's tenure.

I reckon you'd be hard pressed to find any other player with as much drive and passion for the club to succeed.

I'm going with the following in no specific order:

- N. Jones (enough said)

- D. Tyson (gun)

- J. Viney (heart and soul player)

- H. Lumumba (I know he is new but he is a premiership player)

- L. Dunn (become very consistent)

- C. Dawes (good leader)

Wait and see before adding: Hogan, JKH, Brayshaw, Petracca

Dunn please

Why Dunny?

My memory of Dunny is in the fetal postion with Chappy standing over him in the famous game against Geelong after he'd tried to rough Chappy up in the quarter game break.

He also KO'd Ro Bail who was wearing the injury vest at training and nearly ended his career. He's a perennial tough man against small opponents.

He's played 136 games in 10 years.

He was good for the first half of last year but tailed off like the rest of the team in the second half of the season.

Good on you for supporting him but I can't for the life of me work out how he deserves to be recognized ahead of so many others.

It's sad to see Neita looks like missing out. He's in that very select group of favourite players for me along with Robbie and Junior.

At least I love ya Neita.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
