I don't recall your posts personally, but I took objection at the time to those who were laying the boot in before we had all the facts and before the situation had fully panned out. Those who were quick to strike generally had an attitude of depression not being a legitimate illness, which is ignorant and wrong. Bleeding heart? I'd say open mind.

We still don't have all the facts and Clark continues to leave his cryptic messages on Twitter rather than choosing to be up front and honest with the fans who backed him while he was here. I don't agree with how he's handled the situation at all in terms of using up the club's resources and leading them on right up until the day he turned his back. His posts about "loving hanging with the boys" are stomach churning, and I continue to smell a rat over his "medical advice" to change clubs.

But in saying all that, I'm over it. The club is in a good place, and whilst he would have been handy, we no longer need him.

Well that was part of his plan, at the time the club tried to talk him round but he was admitted the best thing was to retire, you are a sucker, and would believe anything, of course Mitch would tweet things like how do you know they didn't want me, it is classic defense response, attack the victim, if u cant see that then you are a sucker.

Gosh, as well as thinking all depressions are the same, you know an awful lot that isn't in the public domain. We don't know exactly what happened and the known facts are capable of being interpreted several ways as many posters have pointed out.

The fact that he is still mates with our loyal Captain is the strongest evidence that your interpretation is the wrong one however.

I don't go on anything vague MC tweeted, but if I had to interpret that particular remark, I'd suspect that by saying 'how do you know', rather than just denying it, he's covering up for being booted out. But don't expect me to put money on that.

At this stage, I just hope he doesn't star for Geelong - that would be galling. If it emerges that he did the club in, I will join you in cursing him. Not till then.

Since we don't know what went on between him and the club, that is pretty weak evidence. Maybe both sides agreed to make no public comment. How do you explain that Jones is apparently still his mate? That seems stronger evidence in the other direction.

And when it happens Mitch will fall back in depression, he is weak of mind that's a sad fact about depression, but depression does not always point to quitters, that's different Mitch is a quitter.

It actually takes tremendous strength to deal with, and overcome, depression.

What a horribly ignorant post. If you don't know anything about depression, the mental illness, it's best to say nothing. Depression is a disease that can strike people for no reason. It's like saying someone that has a brain aneurysm is weak of mind.

I disagree that depression is a weakness of the mind. Some of the most mentally strong individuals get depressed over the most trivial of things.

But I think you raise a good point about Mitch Clark being a quitter in general - as we actually see a pattern of behaviour to suggest you are correct.

But there is no pattern to suggest that all depressed athletes quit in the fashion that Mitch Clark has in recent times. Many players have battled depression and have not quit.

Mitch Clark obviously has other issues. Whether he even suffers from depression is speculative IMO.

Interesting posts from many on here re MC. My initial post starter was a fair bit "reserved" and upon reflection I will go a bit harder now. I am lead to believe he was no longer welcome at the MFC for two main reasons, one being a quite personal"situation" with a well known old club favourite and the second being he tripped up verbally a few times re his explanation of why he could no longer play with us. If you lie then you have to have an extremely good memory. Perhaps MC hasn't a very good memory. I am absolutely sure the Karma Freight train will come steaming into view very shortly and that most of us will be vindicated in a most suitable and convenient manner.

Where there's smoke there's usually fire. The constant chatter about an "incident" with MC at the club, timed with his peculiar retirement, indicates a man running away from his demons rather than confronting them.

It seems increasingly clear to me that he orchestrated a 'retirement' with his manager purely to usurp his contract and get to a more successful club. To assuage himself of the creeping guilt for screwing the MFC he then victimised himself to supporters by claiming he was "unwanted" by the club without an explanation why. The explanation seems increasingly likely it was actions of his own doing.

Having dealt with depressed patients for many years, this is a typical blame deflection tactic; to blame others for ill will that you have caused, relying on the ignorance of people to prevent a backlash and keep yourself painted in a positive light.
