I am not always a fan of Rita as she is usually on the extreme right wing of the Liberal Party, but she has really nailed it in this article. She has very deep connections into Carlton, and I suggest what she spouts here is almost certainly a reflection of all the other AFL clubs except Essendon. All of them want Hird and his band of cheats punished. None will object when the true verdict is handed down in Switzerland by CAS in mid 2015.

Hird, Little and their mates will be left with no friends, and receive their just deserts.

Slow news week people.

First Charles LeGrande then the Persian Princess.

If ASADA hasn't leaked info, which I don't believe they have.

Then ths is just garbage to fill columns over the xmas period.

Great if true, but seems very doubtful.

Totally disagree. This is a well sourced article, with considerable inside knowledge. I'm glad she had the courage to write it. Many wouldn't have, given the intimidating tactics of the Murdoch press, and the criminal connections in the "Carlton crew".

that's very true hoges, but you know what she was trying to say

There's only one currency in play here as far as I can tell, and that's notionally 'time' !! Yes it's costing EFC a motza but they seem to be getting some back off of their insurers, god knows how. They dont care about the money. The typical EFC devotee is that stupid they're coughing up fighting money. It truly boggles the mind.

EFC know they will have to rebuild thoroughly in a couple of years but if they can squeak though in the meantime it is , to them, a win. This is what infuriates me about the whole thing, the utter contempt with which they have not only initiated this debacle but deign to continue it as a farce. WADA needs to find the biggest stick it can grab and get practicing swinging it.

Essendon not only need to be punished but ought to be made an example of.

And the reasons why privacy won out at the Tribunal - AFL Tribunal Ruling on Private Hearing - warning VERY LONG

Assuming you've had a bit of a read, can you summarise?

I personally don't accept "protecting the players identities given half have been identified in the media and the rest can be discerned.

If anything publishing their names is fair to those players under suspicion who aren't actually involved.

Just cut to the section on the arguments from the media, AFL, ASADA & AFLPA and you will get an overview.

It's not so cut & dry and even though I would have liked an open hearing I can understand why it's not and it's not purely about protecting player identities. I would think that a minor concern here. It's possible for the process to be derailed further if the hearing was open.

We need to let the law take its course. Hird and co can show contempt for everyone but themselves, but in doing so they are just shooting themselves in the foot time and time again. These are just the sociopathic tendencies of Tania and James and it will leave them broken and alone. Once the findings are in, they will be left with no friends and considerably poorer however much Tania might want to continue in the courts. It will be a slow, very painful burn for them, but no more than they deserve considering their contempt for their players, their club, the competition and their sport.

WADA will ensure their demise, of that, there is no doubt. And only right and proper too!

Sorry if I have missed a post that tells me the answer to this question but does anyone know when the ruling on Hird's appeal is likely to be made?

The last report said it was expected before Christmas. So who knows, I guess they still have a day and a half to go.

I personally have no doubt Hird will be dealt with. Time not so critical in a manner as he'll be out...and gone, for good. Essendon as a club however cant be allowed the largesse sts of being able to continue ad hoc whilst they stall for time.

Love this extract from Rita's article:

"Essendon chairman Paul Little’s statements at the club’s annual general meeting earlier this month don’t give the impression that his primary concern is uncovering what exactly happened at a club that allowed players to be used as guinea pigs, a club whose own internal report into the supplements saga labelled the catastrophic failure of governance a “rapid diversification into exotic supplements” and a “disturbing picture of a pharmacologically experimental environment never adequately controlled or challenged or documented”.

Little told supporters at the AGM that: “A circumstantial case is a lot harder for them to prove.

“Our legal team is working tirelessly to undermine, disprove the circumstantial evidence.”

She is of course absolutely right on the money.

Ever since the day Hird effectively drove his long-standing mate, David Evans, out of the job - allowing Little to come in - Eseendon's behaviour has been shambolic.

Of all of Little's irrational decisions, the decision to fund Hird;s international studies is the most bizarre. Here he is underwriting Hird's business future outside football. Where was Essendon's coach for 2015 on the day of the rookie draft ? In Europe securing a few letters after his name! What does Hird - or is it Tania (?) - have on Little Paul ?

I keep saying it - but surely Workcover is going to trump everyone else on this eventually?

One might assume images involving Little Paul, goats, Biff's ladies and/or a couple of dwarfs.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
