WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JEFF GARLETT

Pick 23 downgraded 5 spots.

I don't see the Blease swap happening, so deals like this might have to be considered to get it done. We would hope for better, of course.

anything in this range is way over.. third rounder perhaps...and they can like it....or we move on. Again..we DONT have to do the deal.

If Carlton wanted Garlett and Robinson to have any sort of currency, then they wouldn't have told the pair and the footy media that they are going to be traded before the season even ended.

Blease for Garlett is not a stupid proposition, Garlett has had 3-4 seasons where he has had a good output as a forward, but his off field issues make him a risk for any club to take on. Blease is still young enough and I think can make it at AFL level, whether he can respond under Mick is another question.

Any Melbourne fan who wouldn't take gartlett cheaply seriously over rate our list. he's a walk up start. He'll have Hogan and Dawes to crumb too. You need to remember that Carlton pretty much relied on him and betts for 2 years. Happy to make that happen for Blease and or pick 50 plus

If we want him then we have to deal cause he will definitely get picked up, and if it's a third rounder then downgrading 5 places from Pick 23 isn't "way overs". There's stuff all difference between 23 and 28.

I can think of worse results than both H and Garlett for Pick 23.

The Blues had the best small forward combination a couple of years back one left last season the other will be gone this trade period. Add Waite into the picture and Carlton has lost it's Full forward Line from two years ago.

Garlett carries little coin and more of a risk. Hes being given the heave ho by Mouse. You dont cough up second rounders for that. Hes a bit of interest, not central to any success at Melbourne. Hes a "yeah we'll take him but ....."

He obviously got the wrong side of Mouse and the Scum want rid of him........ well played there Blue baggers !!!

I like that with both Garlett and Lumumba they are players who know they can match it with the best, but have been ejected by their clubs and come to us with something to prove.

Redemption and pride can be a powerful tonic. Certainly what the MFC needs in 2015.

Agree and Roos has a reputation for player redemption.

I'm happy to draw a pattern through what's happened so far under Roos - Vince, Tyson, Cross, Riley - how are we going so far?

We got Vince with pick 23...

I don't put Garlett in same cat as Vince.

I would be gobsmacked if we handed 23 for jeff....or any 2nd rounder actually. Dont need to

On trade radio - Pickering (his manager) said Roos has an appealing role for him, not just as a small forward but more up the ground in the midfield also

Again, it's not Pick 23. It's a slight downgrade of Pick 23. No-one would give up Pick 23 for Garlett. That's not the proposal.

If it's not a swap for Blease, what are some alternatives?

Garlett hits me as the ideal player for the rope-a-dope style of footy, where you flood your back line to soak up and stop the opposition then want to quickly counter attack while your forward line is open.

The way I see it we will need to do a player trade for either Frost or Garlett, we won't have enough picks.

Well played mr roos, well played

The number of times the ball came to ground in our f50 last season only for it to cleared out very easily by the opposition was ridiculous

Now for the "A" grade midfielder trade

This

He booted 43 goals in 2013, 48 goals in 2011

Need we remind everyone that Chris Dawes led our goalkickng with 20 in 2014

The kid can play, big time

Agree completely, no point paying overs for someone who struggled to get a game this year and they want to move on.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
