WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - SAM FROST

Gipsy Danger

Recommended Posts

Very Happy have Sam Frost on the list. I too was surprised by the high price we paid but it suggests to me that there was either another offer tabled for him or StKilda was going to take him at P1 in the PSD. If that is the case it is worth considering who you would prefer out of Frost and Membrey?

I would have picked Frost and I'm glad that we did.

Yes plenty of optimism about the lad from that!

Has go about him, and good pace and carry.

I bloody like it.

I just finished watching it, even living in Sydney I've seen stuff all of him. 21 years of age and as you've said, takes it on, has some pace and reasonable disposal for someone standing at 194cm. By no means a one dimensional defender/mug spoiler of the ball. Very happy with this pick up.

That's just a throwaway line to keep supporters happy, but we've cut through his bs in 2 seconds flat.

As for this 'net gain' ideology, LOL. If we were in such a good position to land Stretch with our 3rd round pick, you don't just go ahead and reduce the hand you're dealt and hide behind 'net effect'. You exploit it and press the advantage as hard as you can

st Kilda (banes) said it too. They would have done a quick deal on membry and taken frost in psd. They held the trump card. 1st pick

Welcome aboard Sam, glad to have you at the club

Roos and the Footy department identified you from a long way out and got what they wanted

Recall many Bombers laughing when you took Ted Richards, hope this turns out the same

First option seems to be to always look for a handball.... Only a couple of clips but looks like he lacks confidence in carry and disposal. Other than that looks courageous, hard and quick. Welcome aboard frosty

With regards to "first option looks to handball" isn't that what they are meant to do? Find the back flankers or mids dropping back for supposed elite disposal.

Dare I say it.....is quick, decent disposal, can make desicions. Upgrade on Frawley if you ask me

Especially those 2 words "DECENT DISPOSAL!"

If you can't kick yes. But the best players back themselves. Frost and McDonald in the same team will be interesting and we are yet to bring anyone in to fix the kicking woes of our flankers.

Maybe if Lumumba plays well on a wing, Michie/Riley step up and we draft a ready to go midfielder then we can designate Vince and even Salem to half back.

Frost does look a good option for another Roos type defensive first project.

OMG - first time I have really had a good look at him.

Even given the reservations one should have of anyone's highlights reel, he looks bloody exciting.

Does anyone else see, despite him playing largely as a defender, the young version of our beloved Ox?

Jesus those are some good highlights...

McDonald and Frost - we are set for a decade back there.

No wonder they wanted to get the trade done.

I had no idea he was that impressive.

Should we now show the highlights from the consecutive games where Riewoldt and Josh Kennedy kicked 11 on the giants?

If Frost and McDonald both play well enough to stay in the side next year and establish themselves then get excited. Right now we have 2 baby Zac Dawson's and have to turn them in to consistent players.

Yeh I know, I just hadn't seen him and was hoping he was the type who backed himself in to intercept and break. Just when he gives the handballs he isn't looking for that give-get back. Usually if that's the way they are it stays that way. Not a bad thing if they can shut down a key, I'm just desperate to see a backman at melbourne who WANTS to have the ball and break the lines and link up.

Looks good In the highlights, just made a comment

It isn't always the fault of the full back in those instances

I too was really impressed with those highlights. Looks clean, fast and tough. I think we might have a 21 year old version of frawley and we're 20 picks better off.

He will be a beautiful size in a couple of years when he adds a few more kilos to that frame.

We just need to find a player at 40 or 53 and this could be a great trade.

A few more kilos? He is already listed as 102kgs! We don't want to turn him into a Mick Nolan!

And 102kgs!!!! Can run through just about anyone!

That's on wikipedia. Maybe, just maybe it's incorrect!

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
