Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Anyone else notice this little snippet in the Father-Son bidding summary?

Melbourne bid pick two on Isaac Heeney, to which the Swans matched with pick 17.

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2014-10-06/live-trade-period-begins-plus-free-agency-latest

Very interesting given that Roos would have coached him while he was with the Sydney Academy. He either rates him that highly or he was calling Sydney's bluff and forcing them to use pick 17.

It was never in doubt, they weren't bluffing. Sydney could have called our bluff by letting us use pick 2 on him, but obviously the Swans rate him as a top 2 midfielder in this draft. Either way, they're getting one of the best players in the draft with pick 17.

Absolute joke that they get him after playing in the grand final. Just more ridiculous inequality from the AFL to protect their precious interstate teams.

And everyone is crying about us getting pick 3 for Chip, We actually need it.

Sydney finish on top of the ladder this seaon and get a top 5 draft pick on top of getting one of the best player in the afl last seaon for 10 years.

Equal league my ass.

We loose one of our best (on his day) players and get compensated with pick 3. Sydney looses no-one and gets a top 4 draft pick for nothing. Why is this not being challenged

Their little academy is absolutely ridiculous. Why on earth can they select academy members during the father son selection period? it makes no sense.

The NAB Trade Period opened today but despite plenty of talk and meetings between clubs, no official trades were completed.

James Frawley

The Hawks officially got their man with the unrestricted free agent joining the club on a four-year deal. The Hawks say they hope he will play for between 5-6 years at the club.

Ryan Schoenmakers

The Hawks say Schoenmakers isn't on the trade table, insisting he is a required player despite bringing in Frawley and signing Brian Lake to a one-year contract extension. Schoenmakers also wants to stay at the club.

Levi Greenwood

Greenwood, who is currently on holiday in Bali will make a decision on his future tomorrow. He will weigh up contract offers from the Roos, as well as Collingwood and the Western Bulldogs.

David Armitage

The Saints confirmed Armitage isn't on the trade table, while Sydney forward Tim Membrey expressed his desire to move to St Kilda.

Patrick Dangerfield

Adelaide will not consider trading star Dangerfield according to the club’s head of football David Noble who said any suggestion of Dangerfield leaving the club was "ridiculous".

Patrick Ryder

Essendon wants a quality player in return for ruckman Patrick Ryder, not just "a bag of peanuts", according to recruiting manager Adrian Dodoro who said there had been little movement in discussions with the Power on Monday.

Father-son

Collingwood has warded off a challenge from the Western Bulldogs to secure father-son prospect Darcy Moore with pick No. 8 in this year's NAB AFL Draft.

It's really unfair the filth had to use pick 8 for Moore while we got Stretch at 39!

Just bullshiting! Ha Ha Ha

Mrs Palmer on the line for you apparently. You're wanted at home

Roos would have loved to pick him up at 2, no bluff there and Sydney needed to rate him in the top 17 no bluff there.

Roos coached him at the academy so he knows his value, I think he was being sure to make a point to all those complaining about pick 3 for Frawley and also leave any doubters in the AFL in no doubt when assessing our compo.

The NAB trade and free agency period continued with news of some interest, a new AFL coach and no completed trades.

Levi Greenwood

The North Melbourne midfielder has walked out on the club, requested a trade to Collingwood, despite finishing third in the Kangaroos' 2014 best and fairest award. His manager Liam Pickering telling NAB Trade Radio that the contract offer from North Melbourne simply came too late.

Jeff Garlett

The Blues' small man has requested to be traded to Melbourne. His manager Liam Pickering told NAB Trade Radio this afternoon that the deal will "get done".

New coach

The Crows unveiled their new senior coach - former Port Adelaide assistant Phil Walsh.

Jono O'Rourke

O'Rourke appears destined for Hawthorn after St Kilda announced they had missed out on the former pick number two.

Ben Howlett

According to Howlett 's manager, the player could leave Essendon if James Hird isn't retained as the club's coach.

Rhys Shaw

Shaw is 100 per cent locked in to play at Sydney next season after John Longmire confirmed the half back would continue as part of the Swans line-up.

Nick Malceski

In late news, Sydney was compensated with a second round draft pick for loss of Malceski via free agency.

How the f**k does Hawthorn get Frawley and O'Rourke and lose very little (so far)? This has to be the biggest, most blatant act of inequality in at least 10 years. Incredible that O'Rourke is nominating the team he wants to play for after only a couple of years in the comp. AFL has to sign off on all trades, they should step in and say 'enough'.

He's shown very, very little in 2 years. And nominating Hawthorn shows just how soft he is.

He may have been pick 2 but let's not forget our favourite recruit Tom Scully went number 1 and has been even more of a dud.

Dom Tyson showed nothing much in 2 years at GWS, albeit interrupted by some injuries. How's he travelling now?

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
