Saints, just stick to the rebuild and do it properly. Just about the only teams interested would be GWS and the Bulldogs for vastly different reasons.

North would be better trying to get clark from us rather than Lumumba. scott & lumumba will struggle to get along IMO.

Clark would be a better fit to replace the aging soft Petrie.

# trade for P-14ish or Ziebell or a Bastinac.

They are due to do something foolish. It was a long time between drinks for them when the Scotty Watters fiasco hit but things are returning to script as we speak. A Jack Watts for the number one draft pick trade would fit the bill perfectly.

Amy combo of Shiel, Jaksch and O'Rourke might get it done. Whately seems to think it's a Monty theyre going for Petracca.

The PSD is now almost as dead as the priority pick. I don't think there will be many selections other than some late delistings that might be around.

Even then, they are effectively delisted FA.

It's only for a player holding out who is not yet eligible for FA.

AFL trade radio starts tomorrow and we could learn more about some of these draft rumours judging by the list of invitees:-

• Paul Connors (manager of Ryder, Beams, Dangerfield)

• Ben Niall (manager of Lumumba)

• Josh Mahoney (Melbourne) and

• Dean Warren (Brisbane Lions)

Every draft pick is a potential Cale Morton or Lucas Cook.

Trade Radio has to be a Hutchy production.

To be fair you have to give some credit to the presenters for waffling incessantly about not much of substance!

2014 AFL Offseason @theafloffseason 1h

Damien Barrett has reported that Collingwood's Alex Fasolo has requested a trade out of the club, despite signing... http://fb.me/6Rmn0TyVO

Reckon we should go after him.

I was under the impression that once a contract is signed you can't leave over the following trading period. Maybe it can happen if the player wants it, but it seems strange to do so after signing an extension.

Someone here will know for sure but I've a feeling that that rule might have been ditched - stand corrected of course.

I can see a situation in the future where players will sign longer contracts and the clubs will want them to sign longer contracts ... so as to increase that players value in a future trade. We're not talking about C & D grade players but players who have currency.

It happens a lot in soccer where it's a "virtual" free market despite contracts being in place. Over time, a conclusion has been reached that a players value decreases if his contract is running out - the reverse applies if a player is tied up for 4 or 5 years.

Of course, our currency is draft picks and other tradeable players rather than transfer fees but in some ways, it amounts to the same thing. In a nutshell, in the future, a player signing a long(ish) term deal may not necessarily mean that that player is tied to a club like he might have been in the past.

Whateley thinks that St Kilda or GWS are going for Petracca? Or both?

GWS - he said they will be going hard to get pick 1 to tie up Petracca, could involve Saints trading down to 4.

Anyone who can put up with listening to Trade Radio has my utmost respect.

is it still Terry Wallace and Damian Barrett doing it?

Couldn't think of anything worse than to listen to those two muppets

Has Barrett apologized about Dom Tyson yet? Wait what a silly question, of course he hasn't

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
