Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Need to use all three picks and take the best we can. I would still expect StKilda may still do a deal with GWS, GWS is kinda fond of taking the best picks so will probably be prepared to swap 4 and 7 for 1. That will still leave Stkilda at least one tall forward to take with 4 and a second top 10 pick.

I get that we couldn't do anything with 2 and 3 but what is going to happen with 23 surely we would prefer someone ready made than go to the draft with that?

Pick 23 = Nakia Cockatoo

The deal didn't get signed off. Mahoney has been booked in to go on SEN for 5 days, hoping to make an announcement. Looks like the deal didn't get sorted. I will always back my source in, but apologies.

I was right about Frawley and Vince well in advance, 2/3 isn't too bad.

Can you reveal what the proposed deal was??? Just to rub salt in the wound.

Good news I think!

Going to the draft this year with 2, 3 & 23... Awesome!

Free agent attack next year. I think the Dee's have there timing correct.

If we can get a full season out of Hogan, Lumumba, Garlett, Frost, Toumpas, Gawn we will take some big steps. Especially if our Pick 2 & 3 can play 15+ games next year...

Go Dee's!

In terms of how we will be placed next season, we may still struggle, but it's not the same squad. We've picked up two players who are best 22 and add a new dimension to the side in their own right. We also see another year's development placed into the youngsters who are trending towards lifting another gear very soon - Viney, Kent etc. I still see getting out of the bottom four as a reasonable expectation and pass mark.

Maybe it's the delusional Melbourne supporter in me, but I'm genuinely excited at the prospect of taking picks 2 and 3 into the draft. With those two picks we have the potential to assemble a core group of youngsters consisting of Viney ©, Tyson (VC), Hogan, Salem, Toumpas, Petracca, Brayshaw, Kennedy-Harris, Kent, Stretch and Michie.

If we do things right this time, we can become a real force to be reckoned with.

I usually agree with you, but I honestly want to know who people think we'll pass next year? I will be astounded if we finish outside the bottom-two

Does anyone know what the overall quality of this years draft group is supposed to be like? Superdraft or 2003?

Very average,

Picks 5-20 are all the same

Petracca is only 1 because hes the best midfielder, not comparable to other #1's

Wright and McCartin and had big opportunity to establish themselves as dominant KPP's ahead of the rest of the draft and didnt take it

If you look at the teams in Victoria, we are actually closer to them than we think.

Bulldogs have lost a few and, while they may still keep Griffen, they haven't improved much. Carlton are still so-so, Pies have lost two key players, Bombers may only be able to field half a team, Saints are still poor, Tigers are middle of the road.... if we get the improvement in the current crop we can go past some. But it's still a big if!

Definitely not a super draft, i reckon it is quite a shallow draft, with good kids up until around pick 30ish, but after that it falls away. The top end talent whilst good, doesn't rival some of the previous drafts.

This draft was being billed as a quality talls draft this time last year, but none took a step up and a few took steps back. So much so that Lever who was out the entire year with a knee reco, is still considered to be one of the best talls available.

I hang my hat on the fact we were leading into the last quarter in 9 games last year that we lost. Our list is no worse than last year with our only loss being Frawley for the net gain of Lumumba, Gartlett and hopefully some impact from Hogan. One more year of decent coaching from Roos and co.

I need to go into the season with some optimism.

I think I am all optimismed out tbh.

I think we r going to have another fruitless (or insert word of choice) season.

Gotta keep tryin to convince the kids that we will come good one day.

Not signed off by who??? Us (unlikely), them (more likely), or the other possibility would be the AFL!!!!

We finish bottom two and Roos will have failed, thus far. I don't think we will. We convert all those half chances into wins in the first half of the season and this would be a different discussion.

Aim should be out of the bottom four. Anything less will be a disappointment for mine.

My tip for who we finish above: Saints, Dogs, Carlton, GWS

So we will most likely walk away at 2pm tomorrow with

Premiership hard running HBF

goal kicking small forward

key Back

Picks 2,3, 23 and Stretch plus Jetta upgrade

And we lose

Frawley, Clark, Byrnes, Nicholson, Clisby and most likely Blease, Strauss and Tapscott

8 changes to our senior list.

People talking about us not doing anything, but they are fairly substantial changes.

Any further news on Jones re-signing?

Can we assume knowing that negotiations are underway that it's just a matter of time before he signs on again or will it be Frawley mark2?

I would hope if there was an indication that it wasn't proceeding he would be up for trade but the way this trade period has gone nothin would suprise me tbh.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
