Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

A saints fan said to me today that they will be taking Petracca and he heard we will take Brayshaw and Lever

They will almost certainly not have pick 1, come this time tomorrow.

Can't even describe in words how deflated I feel about this. After 3 months of Roos talking about "drastic" changes and a total "list overhaul" to eradicate what he described as a scarred group mindset... and we've traded out one player. At their behest. And he was our best forward.

In no universe is this a good result for us if we laughably want to appear as an "attractive" option next year for free agents, if that is indeed the master plan that Mahoney mentioned. We are screaming out for midfield depth and we haven't been able to trade in a single midfielder.

Talk about promising draftees all you like, but they won't be AFL level midfielders until long after Roos walks out the door.

Completely agree. Why not at least have a crack at toby greene with a pick or a player?

Why are we suddenly talking about finishing last? Do we think there's no scope for improvement in our existing players? Very few clubs turn over their lists in one off season, and yet clubs move up and down the ladder all the time.

FFS guys, get a grip.

U watch imo next season we will be either last or second last again with the saints and dogs possibly gws going ahead of us.

Very very frustrating.

They are already ahead of us.

Not that it matters anyway. Petracca will be gone before we pick, regardless

They are already ahead of us.

6 wins vs 4, and they've just gotten a star in Griffen and will get the best midfielder in the draft. They'll still have pick 6 or 7 for yet another depth midfielder as well.

Yep, they've knocked this out of the park. The AFL should be ashamed of the concessions they were given at their inception. They can literally replenish faster than they are losing players.

C'mon Naasher, we were % of last this season. You think anybody who thinks we are a good chance to finish last needs to get a grip ? Its reality mate, we are a good chance to finish last, who exactly are we going to leapfrog ?

That gives GWS picks 4, 6 & 7.

With Boyd gone, and if they try to trade to get pick 1, that muddies the water on if they would take Petracca, given the only decent tall forward they now have is Cameron.

Does this bode well for us in getting Petracca at pick 2?

could be a late night tonight for some clubs, Re picks.

The Boyd trade could create a massive ripple effect.

We were apparently in talks early around GWS trading for pick 1 from St Kilda.

Our involvement was to procure something from GWS in order to give Saints a free run at McCartin.

The Boyd trade really opens up the conversation again.

Sure GWS want Petracca, but would imagine we pick 3 may be of interest if they want someone like Peter Wright to be an instant tall replacement for Boyd. We agree to take Brayshaw, GWS agree not to select McCartin, there could yet be a basis for a trade for someone like Shiel.

If GWS trade for pick 1, option 34 will be inacted and we'll offload pick 3 in a firesale.

Have to.

That would be great and would top off an exceptional trade period to boot.

Unbelievable.

Say goodbye to Petracca.

GWS have 4, 6 and 7. They will get pick 1.

What a great year to have 1.

Dogs fans will be in heaven. Their first pick and a 29 year old great player with a back problem, for last year's number 1 and the KPF they have been screaming out for.

They also have a great bunch of kids.

Its not that good of a year to have pick 1

Petracca is better than the rest of the draft but hes no stand out #1

DN9, going by this logic, *every* year, the team that finishes last is odds on to finish last the next year. If you're going to pencil us in for last this year, why stop there? Pencil us in for last every year for the rest of our lives.

I don't know who we're going to leapfrog. We should improve, and some teams will get worse. It happens every year. Predictions of finishing last this far out make the assumption that everything will remain static - that's just not how it works.

I wonder who Adelaide wanted at pick 8? I wonder whether they would want to trade up to pick 3 given the new lie-of-the-land post the Boyd deal and the subsequent draft pick changes by GWS StK. Adel give us pick 8 and a B++ potential A player in return for 3.

I hope our team were not so focused on landing the proven star that we lost sight of other options.

Nash, it's not like we are the only team who has players who are going to improve.

For every iota of improvement from the likes of Tyson, Salem, Viney etc , teams like the Dogs match it with players such as Liberatore, Macrae, Bontempelli, Hrovat and Stringer who will also benefit from another year of development.

GWS have Griffin coming in, in addition to a wealth of talent that too will benefit from another preseason. Brisbane... Well they've knocked this trade period out of the park, and are far better than us.

I see St Kilda as the only team we will likely finish above next season - A sentiment that will be shared, reasonably, by Melbourne supporters and the general football public alike.

It's not up to the rival club if you can convince the player to leave. This trade period is/ was the opportunity to poach a big fish. We (should) have the cap space to bring in any player and we have the picks to satisfy any club in a trade.

Ok name the BIG FISH we missed out on?

Exactly how i feel. There is 24 hours to go (the magical Wednesday 3pm deadline being a mirage).

However if we go to the draft with 2 and 3 i'll re-calibrate my thinking and dream about finally landing a genuine A grader (or even 2- be still my beating heart!). If roos wants Brayshaw he's got him!

quite literally, 24 hours right thru the night IMO.

We never had any real claim on Petracca.

The ramifications for GWS are quite large.

Tom Boyd is the first kid they wanted to keep that they have lost. Other Vic clubs will well and truly see that the other kids are gettable.

The borders of Western Sydney are at serious risk.

Nobody said we were definately going to finish last, just that we are a chance.

"If you're going to pencil us in for last this year, why stop there? Pencil us in for last every year for the rest of our lives."

What does this even mean ? We are talking about next season only, rediculous statement

Yes, I get that other teams will improve. Can you explain to me, why that isn't what happens every single year then? How come the ladder doesn't end up the same every year?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
