Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I would be very happy with Brayshaw and McCartin, both look ready made to me.

Whilst I like the looks of many of the juniors if history tells us anything ( and not only for the MFC but for all the clubs) is the chances of players being "ready made" are low. The number of players who come in and make a huge impact in season one as opposed to the number of players drafted is small. The highlight packages we see are those boys playing against their own age. Even some experience in the WAFL and SANFL is not a sure sign as these comps are well below the pace and intensity of AFL.

Holding on to the belief that getting two highly rated junior midfielders into our club will have this huge impact for us next year will probably end in tears.

I really hope we don't use pick 23 on Lumumba.

Pick 33 would be fine.

We used a mid 20's pick on Vince.

Lumumba is an All Australian, 200 gamer, premiership player, consitent top 5 in the best and fairest.

One could argue that Lumumba is of the equal of Vince in terms of market value.

I think you're being a bit greedy.

Of the top 20 last year - you could argue that Bontempelli was the only year one player had a big impact year one. To a lesser extent Aish, McDonald, Kolodjashnij , Billings, Dunstan showed they will be good players and played some reasonable football but big impact in year one ( the likes of Tyson at our club ?). The rising star Taylor was drafted at 28.

I would say Aish and Dunstan had a big impact, Dunstan only curtailed by injury at the end of the season. I would expect Brayshaw to be similar in impact to Dunstan, strong, big body and ready to go. McDonald stepped straight into a preliminary finalist and played like a pro from year one.

Subjective - but don't necessarily disagree.

I think that the message is that you "hope" an untried TAC player will impact whereas we had insight into Dom Tyson - he had a couple of preseasons and showed he was at home with the pace of AFL ( albeit copping a few injuries).

People who are just expecting that Brayshaw/Petracca will waltz in and be stand outs in our midfield from day one (like Tyson was) may want to lower those expectations a tad. That is not to say that they will not be fine footballers but maybe not world beaters from day one.

I'd be really surprised if in the event St Kilda decided they were taking one of Petracca/Brayshaw that we kept both picks. Roosy has stated that there's too much uncertainty picking a TAC tall.

We know Roosy doesn't gift games and, assuming the scouting report says they're guns, in a perfect world he would take both. I think the determination will be, can we take both and ensure a really competitive environment to develop these guys to the max. If the answer is no, they'll try and move one of those, but it's hard to see a trade that (touch wood) is as lucrative as the Tyson deal coming our way again.

at the end of the day if we are going to trade picks 2 & 3 it will be for an out an out superstar with 7+ years so no older than 25. The problem with this is that clubs ideally want to keep their superstars (obviously), so due to this i have given up hope in trading off both for Danger. But I can still see a trade working out with the bulldogs for pick 2 or 3 and their pick 6. This still gives us the option for a quality mid (either pick 3 or pick 6) and if McCartin is available for the Dogs, Wright may well be available with pick 6. This gives us a win/win situation as well as securing a midfield talent to add to the ranks.

That said, if we bring in Lumumba, Frost and possibly Schroder/Burbury as well as two of Petracca/Brayshaw/McCartin/Wright, it does put us into a good position to develop.

Lumumba and Frost fill needs.

Schroder and Burbury add depth to both midfield/fwd stocks

those 4 look set to be the best acquisitions of the draft and are definite needs for our list.

Essendon are so stupid, they'll blow the trade and Ryder will use his clause to get out and they'll end up with nothing.

They are a bunch of arrogant delusional fools. Pick 16 is a good trade when you are facing legal charges that can see a mass walkout of players.

I think Brayshaw will stand up from the get go but I wouldn't expect any of the draftees to do a Tyson. I always expected Tyson be a big win for the club, I'm not sure there is that player out there this year. One that I can think of is Tomlinson from GWS but so I've been told on here he is not moving.

we'll be laughed at. Looks a certain star and, even though he was pick 4 last year, the degree of confidence in that assessment along with his age would suggest he's worth more.

Ok Pick 3 and two of either Strauss, Blease, Tapscott!

Yep.

I think they still have draft sanctions this year, so pick 16 will get them back into the first round.

If it was me I'd take the deal. Seems likely they'll lose him for nothing otherwise, and the risk of losing other players if Ryder walks and sets a precedent is much too high.

We have been awful quiet so far.....makes think there is something big brewing........my guess is Dangerfield, Mitchell , Beams or even a Shiel, or Treloar ,Frost deal.

If not , well, I'll be happy with picks 2 and 3....two of Brayshaw, McCartin or Petracca.

At the end of the day we are in a great position.

Either we trade for a big name, or we go into the draft and pick up 2 young good mids.

No wonder Roosy is off to Hawaii. He'll be sipping those cocktails relaxed in the knowledge that we've won trade week.

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
