Potential Trades [Warning: Reading this thread may self-destruct]

He's a mobile defender, looking to pursue a role in the midfield, "as that's the way the games going". His words, not mine.

Deleted the comment as I can't be bothered getting into a debate about it (you obviously quoted me before I did though). Just because he "wants to become a midfielder" doesn't mean he is one.

If you look at draft profiles of him, you'll see that his player comparisons are the likes of Dustin Fletcher and Tom Harley. Doesn't scream midfield to me, but hey, who knows I guess. But if we keep 2 + 3, and assume Petracca goes at 1, we should take the two best available players - McCartin and Brayshaw. If we want Lever, trade down to get him.

Yeah I don't want to argue either mate and I'm not disagreeing with you.

I'm pretty sure it was Roos who said the other day also that he sees Lever going straight into a midfield?

And what if Lever is one of the two best players?

And what if Lever is one of the two best players?

At this stage, popular opinion says otherwise. But I guess it's all speculative until they actually pull on a jumper and play AFL football.

... As we've found out in the past.

Ok fair enough is that's the case mate, I was unaware of that.

Toby greene is gettable. I am 100% of this.

Is he a grammar boy? If not, we couldn't possibly go for him. He wouldn't fit in with 'Tackles' Watts.

Cheers and chin-chin!

As we've found out in the past .....

.... popular opinion doesn't usually reflect recruiter opinion. There are countless examples, especially this far out from the draft. This especially so when the player has been out of sight out of mind all year.

Was a Wesley College boy, not sure if that makes it better or worse!

Frost is also a Wesley boy.

Why would we want him.He gets the ball, doesnt hold back, kix goals etc but he got drunk once in off season.

your right Biff, or is that left... lets get him, but just play him around the outer side of the ground for home games.

that should do it.

I'm fairly sure Petracca was intimidated by Roos and said he asked the hardest question which took him 2 minutes to answer.

The interview I heard was a young man who said he was coming off a knee injury and spent the year working with the midfield group as even though he was 194cms tall that is the way the game is going...

maybe propose swapping pick 2 and 23 to gws for Toby green and pick 7, obviously pick two would be on the understanding that they dont touch brayshaw. they might go for it cause they love having the top picks each year. use 7 for lever.

It would be simpler on your scenario to do 3 and 23 for Greene and 4, guaranteeing both Brayshaw and Lever, as GWS would want Petracca and then a Boyd replacement, McCartin or Wright.

Thank Christ the majority of you lot weren't around in the trenches in WW1 and fighting off the northern invasion in WW2. I have never seen such a group of weak lily livered defeatists.

Oh why me

Every cloud has a silver lining look at Brisbane last season when a large group of their players wanted out

Surely it's not true that GWS have offered Ess 4,6 & 20 for Ryder?

It's crazy time. ...

No special sauces just unsubstantiated speculation...

Howes' tweet this arvo had me thinking.."Fair bit going on today #tradeperiod"

From Talking Carlton...

"apparently GWS offered pick 6 for howe and then howes manager asked collingwood if they were interested for pick 5 cos howe doesnt really want to go to GWS

um

wtf?"

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

    TRAINING: Wednesday 5th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
