Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Newton and pick 37 from PA for 23? 37 to GWS for Frost?

If we move 23 then the big trades are definitely off.

Pick 3 and Howe to GWS.

Greene, Frost and Pick 6 to MFC.

Pick 6 to be used on Lever.

Would rather leave Howe out of it and just get Frost in the PSD

I'm happy for GWS to take some of our dead wood. The best part with Howe is that he makes other clubs act like a 4 year old at the showbag stand. They get mesmerised with the outside packaging, but deep down we know the inside is full of rubbish.

Can someone remind me why the hell we aren't going after Merrett? Strong, marking, bullocking, aggressive key forward or key back. Can picture him lining up with Dawes/Hogan.

Too old for the picks/money he would cost.

Why would we trade anything for Frost when we can get him for nothing in the PSD? (Seeing no other clubs seem to be chasing hard for him)

there is that...but we might want to go shopping for something else in the PSD

He has massive upside - I don't get why demonlanders hump [censored] on him. He is actually a great kick for goal (it has been said that he's [censored] on here) he's a spastically good mark and has a good turn of speed.

Granted he's not the player to lead the team but he's not deadwood ffs.

I wonder what could have been with Howe under a decent coach who could develop players.

In his first couple seasons I can remember a few games when he was picking up 20 odd touches and kicking a couple goals. A few bags of three here and there. Then going back this year he was ok also even though not once in his life as he ever been played as a backman,

Not sure why so many are keen to see him gone. One of the most natural footballers we have on our list who can play forward and back we now know.

I'd say he is a 100% keep for mine

It would be interesting to see how many are members?

Anyone who posts here and isn't a member of MFC is, well I.won't say an idiot, but they've made some interesting life decisions. There are always mitigating circumstances (where you live, finances etc) so I get that but taking things at face value I couldn't imagine someone so obsessed that they post/read here yet can't fork out a couple of hundred a year for membership.

I've been a member since 1989 (as a 7 year old) and was a "squadron" member or whatever it was called before that. My son was signed up a couple of weeks after being born and I'll never let his lapse (he actually has 2, 1 MFC and 1 AFL member).

Seriously if you can afford to sign up and choose not to you can't call yourself a supporter, you're just a barracker.

Totally agree on Howe - "natural footballer" is exactly how I would describe him.

The highlight reel marks might lead the average fan to think he's more impactful than he is, but don't let them fool you, he's not just a one-trick pony. Defensively he's got work to do but he's got great disposal efficiency (80.6%, good for 45th in the league among players with 150+ disposals) and found the ball plenty playing in the backline (9 games with 20+ disposals in 2014).

I think he would be at his peak value right now. Other clubs will pay what I would consider over his true value.

I'm expecting him to find it difficult to hold down a roll in the team, especially with the inclusion of HL on the HBF, and the addition of JG in the forward line (I realise Howe isn't a small forward like JG, but JG's inclusion will push someone out).

My fear is that IF I'm correct, Howe will play VFL football next year (hence my "dead wood" call), which will clearly lower is trade value.

As you said, he's not the player that will lead the team, so what will his role be? Take a screamer? We will need more than that from him (and all our players) if we are to rise up the ladder.

Personally, I thought he struggled on the HBF this year, which is concerning for the position known as the "easiest to play". He didn't know when to mark or spoil, he doubted himself at contests, which against a decent HFF, will bring you unstuck and will make you a target.

I was pretty dismayed by Howe's performance in the first half of the season (clearly Roos reached his tether at one point as well) but there were some really encouraging signs in the second half that he was finally getting that defensive role nailed. He had some brilliant goal-saving marks in the last few matches (from memory in the Port game he took a cracking mark against Schulz at one point late in the final quarter), and also showed some very promising signs as a forward early in the year when our key stocks were down (3 goals vs. Richmond in the NAB cup IIRC).

He's incredibly fit and supposedly one of our hardest trainers, so I think his slightly lazy performances where he made zero impact weren't reflective of his actual ability. Roos needs to find a way to extract more of that natural talent, because it's undoubtedly there.

And if there's no room for Grimes down back with Frost/Lamumba coming in, there won't be much room for Howey. I'd guess he's going back forward, and Roos kept him down back this year to ingrain a defensive mindset into Jeremy.

I have an inkling that this is what is holding the trade up. GWS may know this and are asking for overs.

Bingo. Especially when they have us over a barrel one way or the other. They either get "overs" via pick 23, or force us to use our first pick in the PSD on him which lets another player slide to their first PSD pick.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
