To me this sounds like Danger is almost certainly on the move. Firstly there is no way that Conners has not spoken to Danger in the last two weeks....... an out and out lie. Foolishly overs and actually counter productive.

If Danger wants to come, he has to believe we shall improve so would want us to pay MINIMAL to AFC to get deal done and have MAXIMUM to spend drafting other talent to aid the MFC's move up the ladder.

It sate the AFC we need to offer more than their FA compo (for next year) and/or more than other Vic clubs can offer.

To offer more will hurt our chances to lure Danger on the promise of an immanent rise.

But Dangerfield isn't just any 'player'. He is a tough, line breaking, game changing midfielder who would instantly improve us out of sight. He can rest forward as well and kick goals and he is well known for his commitment to training and leadership around the club. Guys like him don't come around all that often.

The core of our midfield group looking ahead would be Danger, Jones, Tyson, Viney and Vince. Most teams have that core of very, very good mids and then the rest are foot soldiers who play their role. Toumpas, Salem, Watts, Stretch (if we get him), Lumumba can play on a wing etc. We would hope guys like Kent can also push into the midfield and we can always deal for other players as well. I'm even sure I've forgotten other guys who we have on the list too.

If Danger wants to leave then we have the opportunity to change the outlook for our club. No more hoping we get a gun - we will have one. That simply can't be ignored, and if it takes those picks, then so be it. Petracca looks certain to go to the Saints anyway, which would leave us with possibly Brayshaw and.... ? And you might be right - If we gave them both those picks but got Danger and pick 10 in return then I think that would be a good deal, although I don't think the Crows would do that one.

Plus we might need to pay overs to get him now, rather than baulk at it and let him go into free agency next year where he could literally go anywhere.

It will be interesting to see how it all plays out over the next few weeks.

You know Dangerfield has received the most best on grounds in the competition (talking about Brownlow votes) in the last, idk how many years. I just remember it was a stat.

I think using 2 and 3 straight out for Dangerfield is a bit much, even Chris Judd when he went to Carltank (arguably the best player in the comp at the time) involved a swap of later picks. Bundle our number 2 pick and a swap of 2nd round picks. Or 2, 3 and Toumpas for the Crows 1st round and 2nd or 3rd round?

They are devastated that Danger may be leaving. Although not so bad if he goes to Melb.

To me, I think Adelaide would do the deal for 2&3. It is too good to turn down if they think they may lose him next year. The problem may be Danger not wanting to come to us. We would give the Crows the best deal, but they have to convince him to go to us. It will be interesting to see what they get if he goes to another club.

Roos is here to change the culture. The biggest problem with the culture is having no stars at the club. Why?

a) On gameday, the opposition can focus its energy on our younger talent. In successful clubs, these kids get more a free ride because of the talent around them.
b) The kids get all the external pressure from the media and supporters.
c) There are things about being a professional footballer that rub off on younger players on the training track
d) Quality leaders affect the psychology of the group on gameday, moreso in particular situations like close finishes
e) Stars make their teammates look better.
f) Stars put bums on seats. That's worth money.
g) Stars win matches. Wins build momentum and belief.

IMO, 2+3 is worth it for sure. Roos clearly feels the same as demonstrated in his quote recently "We are clearly talking to all clubs about pick two. Our fans can’t wait for another three or four years, we have to get cracking to become more competitive.”

This player will have a gigantic, immediate impact. I find it amazing that anyone who has followed this putrid side for the last 8 years could argue. How many years of watching kids get thumped will it take to convince some people? This is the moment to make a big upwards push in our trajectory. Get it done MFC.
