I had a seance at the Gat last night .

I channelled the late great Rodney Dangerfield.

Must be a sign.

I can't believe my eyes... a Melbourne supporter saying that they don't want Danger because he might get injured, despite rarely missing a game in the last 5 yrs! Now I've read it all. So how about the 2 good players you mention don't perform to expectation and we missed out on a chance on a fit and firing Dangerfield? Basing recruitment upon 'what if he gets injured' is dumb recruitment. Clark had significant injuries at Brisbane before coming here, we knew that, took the risk and lost. But yeah, sure, GAJ was a big mistake for the Suns. Don't know why they went for him. Haha. Now that's a risk I'd love Melbourne to take: GAJ vs. possible injury. Hmmmmmm.......

I'm not saying I don't want him. It depends on the price and risk vs his value as a player. I'll be happy if we get him at the right price.

It is not 'basing' recruitment on 'what happens if he gets injured'. It is foolish to not take all possibilities + and - into account. If the price is so high we can't get some extra good player(s), then it is a risky thing to put all the eggs in the one basket. Of course 2 or 3 good players may also not fire or get injured. The odds are just lower. If you are depending on a single messiah, you are a naughty boy.

Dangerfield past injury record is almost a neutral factor. You wouldn't want to touch him (at a high price) if he had bad history. Fortunately he doesn't. I trust Roos and co to weigh up the pros and cons if they get the chance (which seems unlikely anyway).

I think we are talking about different dangerfields! I have had enough laughs watching MFC last few years. Don't need anymore!

On reflection remember Roos words "No one player will turn the club around, forget drafting kids and thinking they will be the saviou". I suspect the thinks the same about players and if we land Dangerfield good but I suspect Roos wants more than just 1 superstar. He wants to build the midfield depth and has a preference for tall strong mid's. Be interested to see how it pans out. Note Hawthorn got Burgoyne, 3 time premiership player, for pick 9 and traded Mark (shotgun) Williams.

I hear you Sue, you don't want all our eggs in one basket and you don't think any one player will be the messiah, both of which are simplistic clichés which cannot really be applied to something as complex and considered as recruiting and list building. Melbourne rarely (actually, pretty much never) gets the opportunity to trade for a fit midfield superstar at the very peak of his career. If we need to give up picks 2 and 3 and get Danger and a second rounder back, or Pick 2 and Toumpas I'd be satisfied. We will also get the opportunity to trade for other players, perhaps pick up a DFA or two, as well as select a couple of young players in the draft (eg, Stretch). And we get the same chance to further build our list in next year's draft.

Imagine this year if we got Dangerfield, Stretch, Frost, Lumumba, Gwilt, one or two second round picks and a smokey late in the draft. If we gave up The Toump as part of the Dangerfield trade, you could possibly throw in Brayshaw as well. That sounds mighty tempting to me.

I'll agree to disagree with you on this. It sounds like the Dangerfield discussion is moot anyway.

The last 2 (2013,2014) have been much worse. 2007 was a celebration of great footy by one side and putting our dubious 1988 record to bed.

Yeah Hawthorn are so boring to watch because they bloody belt the team, loved 2012 but 2013 and 2014 were terrible, hopefully their reign is done.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
