"Roos said he had not met with Dangerfield despite speculation of a Demons overture"

Code for: "Mate, we've already spoken to Pickles Evans, and he's getting the arse, number 32 is all yours. Now, find yourself a nice Victorian girlfriend and we'll pay for her education.... Oh, you're still dirty at Trenners for the sling tackle? Ok, he's gone too."

I for one, welcome our new saviour and overlord. God speed Danger, god speed.

Or Roos is throwing everyone off and we are preparing to get Tex instead?

I hope so...

Geez i hope its not 2 and 3. Not that he isnt worth it but would love to trade in another Tyson like deal as well

Danger + Tyson + Salem...

Well, if we get Adelaide's first rounder back (unlikely), this would become very much like the Tyson deal, but on a much grander scale.

Roos is a sly old fox. All this talk about teams trading their stars before FA occurs. He started it.

Hope he is working on Jonesy though..

Yeah, well, fingers crossed. Brave new world. I think we need to buckle down for FA. For the good and the bad. We've had some bad, time for some good.

“We are clearly talking to all clubs about pick two. Our fans can’t wait for another three or four years, we have to get cracking to become more competitive.”

exactly what I have been saying, Roos knows that the way forward for this club is not to rely on high draft picks but to import established talent

Pies might try and do a deal for dangerfield as I heard this 1 tonight

Beams> lions

Dangerfield> pies

Pick 4 + aish > Adelaide

I think brisbane would be paying overs pick 4 should be enough for beams

Posted

You'd think the Lions wouldn't entertain trading Aish at this stage, even for Beams. Was very good in his first year and looks to be a 10 year midfielder in his own right.

Pick 4 by itself may not get the job done, maybe adding a second rounder or one of Gardiner/McStay would do it.

No one wants to go there.

This was started by a crazy pies supporter on bigfooty and every other clown pies supporter is re-tweeting it. I can't believe you can get sucked in and put it here like you heard it.

Relax folks!

http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-09-11/dees-opening-negotiations-with-jones

"MELBOURNE has moved to lock away co-captain Nathan Jones, opening negotiations to secure him to a long-term deal."

I believe 5 years is being discussed which will take him to his early 30's.

Relevance to this thread??

Anyways since you bought it up. Is it coincidental that we're trying to lock away Jones now prior to this trade season. Especially given Roos' comments re free agency and trading people prior to final year of contract, double that with everyone is tradeable comment....

ie Sign on Jones or we'll trade you this year, so we can choose what we get.

Ps I hope not btw.

Relevance to this thread??

To reassure the posters above who expressed concern!

Re your concern that if he doesn't sign he might get traded the article says: "Jones was due to become a restricted free agent at the end of the 2015 season, but AFL.com.au understands the parties are in talks to extend the 26-year-old's stay at the club"

I would be worried if it said Jones has put talks on hold.

...back to young Patrick...

The rumours are based on other rumours that Tex Walker is seriously considering a move to us, really seems like something might be brewing

Interesting to see big Tex out on the town last night with Bernard, Bock and Hudson enjoying a couple of froths in Richmond. Hopefully his mate Bernie can con"vince" him to come across to the dees. If the rumblings about a player exodus at the crows is correct, then happily be a recipient at demon land.

Bernard didn't seem to think that Danger Danger was going to come to the dees, but other clubs are having a swing as well.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
