GOODBYE MITCH CLARK

Recommended Posts

Like who?

Pettard, Cheney, Buckley, Morton, Moloney?

Don't say Stef Martin, he has had a few good games, like he did with us, lets see that week in week out before you start flogging that horse.

Oh and dont even mention Scully either, that clown has done nothing.

Correct

and from what talent pools did we pluck Tyson, Vince and Cross from?

getting very sick of the 'woe is me' around here

To me there are two out comes, one he plays for Melbourne or 2 he walks as a delisted free agent to who ever he wants to. All this talk about trading and compo picks, don't get excited the club he chooses doesn't need to trade with us and the AFL couldn't care less.

Another fool just spouting unsubstantiated rubbish

Ive concluded that this is a win for us. Sure we have terrible history in these situations but surely 'she'll be right.' Scully's defection turned out a win - we'll get the last laugh either way.

There are no Dangerfield, Sloane, Walker rumours. They all just bought a pub together and even when football is over for Rory, he and his partner and parents will stay in SA. Dunno about the other 2, but seriously, what rumours???

A bit on the AFL website from Barrett, says that Clark is going and will stay in Victoria, but Barrett is not 100% willing to commit to this as things could change.

He also said that he will be delisted by Melbourne at the end of the year as was their agreement.

In other words, we don't know any more.

If only the real media was like D Land. Then I could put Barrett on "Ignore"

Deep Breaths 1..... 2..... 3...... Serenity Now)

I have never understood the term " dog act"

people use it to suggest someone or something is disloyal, but dogs in general are very loyal

anyways... back to the topic

It describes something below the general human level of decency eg 'not even my worst enemy would look me dead in the eyes while taking a [censored] on my living room carpet'.

If it is managed so that Melbourne are able to trade Mitch, I don't expect we are going to be particularly well rewarded.

Our best case is that he leaves, screwing us, and the AFL hand us a priority pick.

We should get a priority pick regardless.

WE ARE CR@P, and have been for a very very long time.

We deserve an additional, unrelated compo pick for Clark if he leaves, as we will get for Frawley, which is separate from the PP debate. Of course the AFL will never stand for any club outside of GC/GWS receiving such compensation and support.

Sometimes most of the time I really hate the AFL

Exactly - unless we worked something into the severance arrangement then what leverage do we hold if he decides to leave? We would be lucky to get better than a 3rd round pick for him unless we tell him we will simply re-draft him in the PSD.

Roos and Viney are not just going to let Mitch walk without trying to extract the best outcome for the MFC. I have confidence in them doing what it takes, while the club has assisted mitch through his depression, it is obvious that his depression is lifting, possibly due to the possibility of playing for another club and being paid another sizable amount of money.

So its down to business now for Roos and co, what can we get for mitch if he goes, or play him if he wants to stay.

Well that's 9 mostly dubious ones in 50 years so yeah keep thinking mate

garbage. Not one of these is dubious. Were you even around then? Peter Walsh, Gerard Healy, Greg Wells, Darren Bennett (to USA where he made a mint), Brock McLean, Kyle Cheney, Jared Rivers, Ricky Petterd. Norm Smith (coach). Alastair Clarkson (coach now).

the "leverage" is he said he would retire and we would delist him

well if he is not retiring then we are not obligated to delist him

doesn't mean we would get a good trade necessarily, but we would control his options

"MFC Blindsided"

As many of you know, I have excellent contacts in the MFC at administration and board level. Over recent years despite the roll over of staff I have been able to maintain these contacts and often share some of what I am hearing with my fellow heavy hearted Dees members via this forum. After the weekends revelations I did not want to make comment on the MC situation until I had made the contact with my sources. This what I have been told.

  • The decision to retire from AFL was always with MC health in mind. In reality it was always a break that may have become permanent rather than a retirement. MC always (even at the time of retirement) maintained ambitions to play again, play for the MFC and repay the MFC and its faithful for its investment and support. The decision to retire was ONLY to give MC the best chance of recovery by taking all pressure off him. The full process of playing in 2015 were set out in the retirement discussions. MC only ever expressed complete desire and loyalty to the MFC. As such MFC continued to support MC in the ABSOUTE belief that if fit he would play for MFC. Essentially the ball was left with MC. MC has been in regular contact with fitness staff and coaches and on a MFC derived fitness plan.
  • MCs return to physical and mental health has been fantastic. So much so that up until about 2 weeks ago, the MFC were extremely confident he would be recontracted to play for the MFC in 2015. In fact the confidence I was hearing from within the club was much greater than what I expressed on Demonland. MFC were 100% certain that if MC did play it would be only in red & blue and it seemed the only question would be whether to rookie him or place him on the senior list.
  • Approx. two weeks ago MC manager was contacted as to whether MC would attend the Best & Fairest and also to initiate contract discussions. Misson had been training with MC that day and had been excited by MC developing fitness. Contact between the club, MC, and his manager has been ongoing and until this point there had been no hint of dissatisfaction or expressed desire to play for anyone else. It was at this time that MC manager let the MFC know that MC did not wish to play for MFC next year and wanted to play for another Melbourne club.
  • The club was completely blindsided. Roos had steam coming out of his ears. I have been told by one of my sources that Roos almost blew a blood vessel.

I think its fair to say, that Roos dig in his best fairest speech was directed squarely at MC.

He is no longer contracted for next year so whether we delist or fail to re-sign him is academic. Either way we have no leverage at all.

GNF what you have relayed is the way I was thinking it must have played out and if it's the case then I and the club and it's supporters would have every right to be furious with Clark. We should be playing hardball now even if it's to our detriment - tell him we will refuse to trade him and if he doesn't re-sign with us we will take him with pick 2 in the PSD. St. Kilda would be our only risk there and I doubt he'd want to end up there either despite what Patrick Smith has said.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! It’s Indigenous Round for this game and the chance to celebrate and engage with Aboriginal and Torres
