That's using the "vibe" defence clause the AFL have up their sleeves.

If he's getting what is reported it has to be pick 3 according to the rules they came up with, right?

Edit- there is a formula in place that deals with compo based on things we will qualify for. How could the AFL change that at their own discretion?

well they sorta dont...it has to jump over hurdles and through fire before it gets a possible chance at the mystery formula.

In essence they can make it all up , who's to know....all behind closed doors hush hush secret squirrel shlt etc

SD...the AFL makes up EVERYTHING and then suggests later some sort of reason etc was applied. The actuality is imho its all a political outcome to suit whatever needs to be done/catered to at the time.

Have ppl not noticed things are only ever elaborated or near-explained AFTER the event.

Its borderline comical really. Its the official 3 card monty game...called the AFL Commission !!

There's every chance that the AFL might be asked to give Essendon special assistance in the near future to help them get a team on the ground.

It can hardly give the Bombers help in circumstances where the AFL has already sanctioned that club in view of the attitude it took against Melbourne last year when the clubs objected because of our involvement in the tanking dispute. It can only give Essendon help if it provides assistance in some form to us.

What if they hand Essendrug draft picks conditional that they trade them for our spud players? Two birds with one stone - Wammee!!

A second rounder we have to trade for Lamumba I can confidently see happening, because it's a win win situation for Eddie. He can rob us blind by taking Clark and paying us a pittance in exchange, then secure himself our second round PP to compensate his own team for losing a player who doesn't even want to be there.

Then he even gets to come out and praise the AFL, reiterating how grateful we should be for receiving such charity, when essentially he's manipulated the situation to make his club the real beneficiarys of the pick. They've done this masterfully by playing hard ball with Lamumba and refusing a straight swap with Clark.

Taking this stance publicly also softens any public perception that Colonwood have been dirty players in the Clark affair, because it makes them look empathetic to our plight.

Eddie always wins.

Two totally different situations. Pies cant take MC unless we trade him. PP is based on our past. Basically we either trade with Pies for MC and HL and then in addition we get a PP. Am I dreaming?

Pies supposedly are refusing to do straight swap Clark for Lamumba, want as high as our second rounder. There's a reason people don't bother dealing with Colonwood at the trade table, they're notoriously difficult.

Presuming that they are meeting on this right now, what time is the media announcement on our request?

Posted

Doubt we will hear anything about it until tomorrow. No footy shows on tonight due to brownlow. I'm on the red carpet soon

Maybe swap Mitch Clark for Mitch Robinson? Leave Collingwood right out of it! (And I hope Malthouse bids for Moore forcing the Pies to use their 1st Round pick!)

I have no doubt someone will early bid for D Moore, but we wont

Like one top forward taking up booze, quitting the club and going to jail, another top forward suffering a succession of random injuries, quitting the club then declaring that he wants to play elsewhere, a potential top forward missing the entire season with a random and unforeseeable back injury, our top of the line FB deciding he wants to play at a more successful club, two top 20 draft picks suffering badly broken legs and never pushing on and two top 5 draft picks suffering season-ending injuries and having no impact yet? And that on top of the little things from previous years such as multiple senior players from the leadership group packing their bags and walking out o the club, our No. 1 pick being poached under the poorly written start-up club rules (against the wishes of the AFL, incidentally), a revered club figure dying and being fined $500,000 for not being found guilty of tanking.

I think we've had plenty of things impact multiple players which were entirely out of the clubs control. It's just a matter of overcoming the ridiculous bias that Eddie and Co. have managed to stir up and convince them to look at the facts instead of the spin.

I don't disagree with how unlucky we have been, but I think it would take something monumental in a short period of time to get a PP.

Not a word from Roos on 360 about our application. So there's a decision that's been made, but for whatever reason hasn't been announced. Kind of weird?

It's hard to know if this is good for us. On one hand, the football media is distracted between Essendon, the Brownlow and the GF. On the other...why would they not mention it?

AFL commission will release the findings tomorrow is my guess

They bent us right over with the Dawes trade and obviously think we are still soft. Hope they are wrong and the new regime won't succumb. Still feel sick and can't believe Clark walking out to walk down the road. It's so wrong. He will be a gun next year. Please Norm, please, your curse has done enough. It's getting worse the more the years go on, not better. Please release us.

I think they have bigger fish to fry at present bb

we are sardines in the scheme of things at present.

Yes, but it would have been discussed then. with all else happening NOW is the time to let it slip out. Even if clubs wanted to grizzle the #1 focus in town is the Bombers.

Timing wont get better

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
