Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No, not the band, but the postion we are in.

It would be trite to say we are devoid of talent/skill, pace, mental toughness and belief.

Many of us have discussed Priority Picks and some IMO have misguidedly said that is a loser's mindset. Well guess what, we are losers.

I was at 186, this was 187.

IMO we need far more than a PP, we need several.

Anyone who thinks we can get ahead of clubs like GWS and GC, who have been handed great lists by the AFL is dreaming.

Have a good look at the expression on Roos face after the game. He is stunned and shattered. He is a Premiership Coach. He is clearly feeling helpless.

We need to approach the AFL, with Roos and PJ explaining that we have had 8 years of this crap. That our donors, sponsors and members are at risk and therefore our financial viability is also at risk. This can't go on. What will it do to the broadcast negotiations? There is too much at stake.

We should be demanding several picks to try and right the situation. Even if some are given on the basis they must be traded, that would help as we could use our early picks in the draft and trade for better players than we have currently, with the PP's.

I am not suggesting this as a quick fix, but rather a method to make us competitive. I can't see any other working. For every player we draft so does every other club and generally we stuff it up.

IMO without immediate improvement the future of this club is at real risk.

I am not saying the AFL will give us anything, but we will have been totally negligent and derelict in our duty to the club's future, if we don't at least try.

The more charity we ask for ,the more easy it is to shut us down.

The group actually has to find something from within .

We should not put the hand out this time.

A priority pick MUST be a given. Under AFL policy, if we don't get a priority pick, they may as well bench/scrap the policy.

With Frawley leaving (another must) we should have picks 2,3 and 4. Sell two of them for top talent and keep Petracca.

The AFL do not care about the MFC.

We'll be lucky to get pick 3 compo for Frawley, once sides have a whinge - that will probably be relegated to pick 19 or 20.

Next year, we'll hear Gill say that it is up to the Demons to improve.

When you run a comp reactive to public opinion and backlash, it makes it hard to make simple - and logical - decisions.

We should've had a priority pick last year, we were absolute garbage.

Not for me. No more "helping the poor, little unsuccessful MFC". We find and/or develop from within through determination and a refusal to go under.

Bullshite. If this means we are a charity, therefore so is GWS and GC. The AFL are committed to an 18 team competition. The TV rights deal cements this.

Put your hand out PJ. Gets picks and money for the club to pay 100% of its salary cap. We need attract good players and pay them.

Dead right. In the mid 60's the game started going professional - we we're caught napping and suffered for decades. Now the new expansion club's have come in it's changed the game again. Right now we need every bit of assistance we can get and pronto. To do otherwise would be amateurish and potentially terminal.

Bah, the AFL won't do a single thing!! For years we have held our own destiny in our own hands and we have drafted pathetically!!

Nup, we have no one to blame but our previous coaches and shizen recruiting people!

We won't be given a priority pick so forget about it. Look at some of the other clubs who are able to compete who have barely a top 10 pick in their whole team. Our club needs to stop looking for the quick fixes and realise the only success will come from hard work.

Who said it was the answer? It helps if used properly. The club re structured due to the reason that others were not up to task. A priority pick could mean a lot with our new recruiting dept.

the bigger problem is

its not that we dont support them week in week out , yes we can sometimes think why and want to leave , I know I have

its not that we leave early somedays

its not that we travel and get crap times

its not that we have drafted that bad

the bigger problem and its huge , our kids are leaving the club and the club will have less supporters than GWS in years coming , and this is a major problem.

and don't think because we have melbourne in our name we are guaranteed

I fear for our club

the afl helped create this mess and we need help , they can either help or watch us fall further down , till we either fold, merge or relocate. don't think the tv rights will keep us alive , the tv rights $$$ will go down with so many one-sided games

the ratings will fall as will the $$$ , you can see the attendance's are lower and could continue this way

today I was at the game , paid for a special lunch and had the players function after the game , sad to say i left just as the game ended and came home , its been nearly 2 hours and i am still shell shocked at what i saw and couldn't give the effort to go after the game and see the players , I saw Paul Roos face and i am sure he is has shocked and upset as us , i watched him in the coaches box and i felt sorry for him.

today to me was as bad as I have seen in my 46 years as a supporter

Good of you to break from your busy schedule Earl and give us the benefit of your wisdom.

BTW, it may be of interest to you, I spent some time among the "poor people" today.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
