Let's cut to the chase... Who is gone!

I was going to take the same approach but could only come up with Jones, Tyson, Viney and Jetta - who I would classify as not expendable - Gawn would be close. The rest well we can't get rid of all of them, so the inexperienced would maybe get some reprieve, though the irony is not lost that conversely we need to keep experience; but I would canvas offers for any of the rest Now I have been a Watt's fan and apologist; but he is an example of someone I would be shopping, and based on today Dawes, and Frawley were equally passionless.

All kids, except Jonesy who is fast approaching the big 27Yrs..... leadership is required, please apply within.

I'll tell you who doesn't go: Nathan Jones

I care not for anyone else at this moment.

A bloke called Daniel Cross was, I'd argue, more important than Jones today. Unfortunately, there were about two others that I cared for. Tyson and Vince. Michie did some good, but other than that...?

All bar 15 or 20 on the whole list need to be moved on. Some will stay on the list for a year or two longer than expected due to contract length or providing an older head for a year or two.

Is Matt Jones really contracted for a further two years? How does this happen? He has a go and provides more than a few on the list, but is so far short of the required standard it isn't funny.

I think we need to add more attacking flair to the game plan

THIS IS SPOT ON, WE WON GAMES EARLY CAUS THE OPPOSITION WASNT ONTO OUR 1 CARD GAME PLAN, OUR LIST ISNT TO BAD (NO JOKE) MUCH BETTER THAN SAINTS & LIONS, JUST NEED TO TRADE WATTS, FRAWLEY & DAWES CAUS THERE WORTH SOMETHING, COULD GET 3 CONSISTENT SOLDIERS FOR THEM THE REST OF THE LIST WILL LIFT WITH A LITTLE FLAIR FROM THE COACHING

I don't think it's just a matter of who is gone, it's a matter of who holds some value with trades and makes us a better team after the trade period.

The first to go, and I hate saying this as this board unfairly scrutinises him, is Watts. He has value with top 8 teams and hopefully we can raid a good consistent player. Watts just can't perform consistently. Goldsack for Watts is a possibility

Frawley is someone we should force to leave. Why? Because a first round pick is on offer we can trade that pick out for a Mitchell plus Reid type trade. I think the club is ripe to force the hand of Sydney with the Buddy/Tippett/etc/etc deals. Roos and his influence and history at Sydney will help with this type of trade.

Malceski is another I hope we trade for (3 or 4th rounder). This type of trade is a sweetener for the club arising from the Pick 3 trade.

Others with some value are Garland and Grimes. Grimes maybe our captain, but his skills stand out in a team like the MFC.

Jack Fitz is another who may get us another fringe player at another club. The Bullies may trade with us here.

If the club can get Reid, Mitchell, Goldsack and Malceski, we are a better team.

Bah ha ha ha Goldsack for Watts? Please go and see a Doctor Quick, Delusion is setting in!

Grimes is a liability in the team not just as Captain!! Skills???? he is the turnover king!

Goldsack performs! Watts does very occasionally. The club needs performance.

C,mon Pickett Fence, your roses are dead and you need to re plant.

Look, I agree, but can you ever imagine in a Tangerine nightmare Dream or Freddy Kruger dream nightmare, that Collingwood would agree to that swap??

Il probably cop it for this but stuff it.

Jimmy Toumpas copped it last year for his performance which wasn't as bad as it was made out to be.

Christian salem has played 11 games and has shown nothing exce kick the winning goal. He struggles to win the ball and looks way out of his depth.

Toumpas showed promise last year and ability to win the ball yet he is regarded as a wasted pick.

To me Salem hasn't showed why he was a safe pick at pick 9.

Lets just hope it was just lack of pre season..

My cut list...

Jamar: past it. Been a good servant.

Mckenzie: out and out dud. No skills. I dont care if he's a rated tagger. Doesn't ever get in the firsts to tag anyway.

Trengove: yes he's out injured but he does not cut it when he is out there. Doesn't do enough. Too slow for modern footy.

Grimes: inability to effect games and doesn't lead like a captain...period.

Watts: Does not want to put in 2nd efforts, chase, back himself, show aggression for himself or his teammates.

Blease: Not willing to work hard to win his spot in the firsts. Goes missing when he gets in.

Tapscott: finished. Overated and doesn't impact games.

Bail. Try's but that's not enough in today's game. Another who doesn't impact and frequently gets manhandled because of his small frame.

Spencer: simply not going to make it.

Trade em up Roosy. It's time to make hard decisions that are required.

Agree, and this is going to annoy 'Sat' but it's time for Salem to get interested in watching as much AFL as he can even at the expense of his EPL. The kids got talent, now he has to work for it.

Dawes needs a rocket and/or be traded out. He's not in our team as the small defensive forward which is a role he seems to relish.

Lead at the ball Chris, mark the ball Chris and kick it to advantage and quickly if you're not having a shot.

I'm not convinced by Kent yet, seems a dumb footballer to me.

The kids may need some time but of the more established players Tyson (30+) games and established that's a joke in itself, and Jones are keepers, probably big Max but worry about his knee, Vince and Cross...the rest can go.

The sooner Frawley is gone the better, compensation will be interesting...

If Jones leaves I will actually be done. He's the only reason I have any respect left for this club.

is it wrong of me to wish Jones would leave so he could have success at another club? God knows he deserves it

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
