And Nev Jetta was outstanding. Easily the best defender on the ground and comfortably in the top 5 players on the ground too.

Thanks for now making this thread all about Watts instead of encouraging discussion about the game as a whole. Obsessed.

Jack Watts is 1/22 of this team should we not talk about him?

Rohan Bail was stiff to be rested. Paul Roos must be pretty sure he's staying on next year.

Neville Jetta deserves the Bluey.

Nathan Jones will win his third B+F in a row.

Mark Jamar and Max Gawn were awesome.

Chris Dawes is in really bad form.

Dom Tyson is a very good pickup.

Jack Viney, Daniel Cross and Bernie Vince have made our midfield a lot better.

Matt Jones is delist material.

I wish Tom McDonald could kick.

James Frawley is our best forward...and he's not even a forward.

Dom Barry could be something.

Barry played his best game for the club

Great learning experience for Dom. I think he'll really benefit from Roosy's coaching and a few more pre seasons to bulk up. His attitude and effort is fine.

Jee-Zuss.... We've just been pantsed by 50 points and been patronised and condescended to by Eddie and Derm in seriously nauseating commentary, and you're all delighted with this hiding not being as bad as our recent hiding. Give me a break

The Melbourne members end of the ground was packed with Hawthorn, 1 to 5, I reckon. I guess I don't begrudge those who have given up, but it seems unfair to think that those of us who still go week in week out, will reap the same reward when the tide eventually turns our way. The MCG is our ground and we were severely outnumbered. Gives me the shits.

I go most weeks but couldn't be stuffed today. If it was a home game I probably would have made it but I had a better time hanging out with my family with the footy on in the background instead of leaving the house when my son was having his afternoon nap ad getting home when he's already gone to bed.

Commentary on fox was condescending and putrid.

Fat ed and Derm were the main ones with huddo and Johnson ok.

Geez I can't wait till will turn our performance around.

You should have watched it with the Spanish commentators. it definitely made more sense that Derm and Eddie

I thought Nathan Jones was pretty ordinary today, despite a good first half and a high possession count.

Go right ahead and talk about him, but posting a picture of him smiling with Shiels after a game as they have a chat, which most players do, only brings the Watts bashers out of the woodwork to spend there time going on and on about the usual and clogging up the thread.

Who's role is it to kick goals for us?

Not going to say anything negative today. Loved the coming of age of Maximus. If he can continue to improve he will be a colossus and someone to build a side around. Also Jetta is now the best small defender in the comp. Love Pigdogs tackling - much rather have him the side than McKenzie.

Can't understand the Dawes negativity. He was never meant to be the sole tall forward. He competes well and had 17 possessions.

Overall I'm glad not to have smoke coming out of my ears this week.

He was great early. Those first 2 steps, I wish most our players had that first quick burst.

Jones is was solid by his own standards. Hawthorn one hell of a side.

if Neville Jetta played for another team he would be all Australian this season

No he wouldn't. He's been terrific since coming in, but he hasn't played enough games this season. Fast becoming one of my favourites though. Edited by AdamFarr

If you have it in you to smile after a performance like that, then you deserve a bashing.

Give Watts a break, he is running all over the place trying to give leads and get into the game, only 6 players had more possessions than him, only 6 players had more contested possessions than him. Top for delivery efficiency. What does he have to do before people give him a break.

What did do you expect out of today? Honestly?

Today could've been much, much, much uglier than it was.

You need to be realistic. We are not in Hawthorn's league right now. We're on a path forward, we just lack the cattle.

Watts is a joke

An embarrassment to the jumper

That very moment in time should feel like acid in your guts... But why would he even care? He gets paid ridiculous amounts of money for keeping fit and playing footy albeit like a fairy most of the time.

Boys had a crack all day today, I think 50 points actually flattered the hawks, such was the butchering of countless positive forward entries.

We just out tackled and won not only centre clearances but stoppage clearances against one of the best in the business.

Yes we lost, but you need a reality check.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
