Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Did he say anything cool on AFL 360?

Not much that hadn't been covered already. Most notable was:

- re the Wingard free, did not dispute that it was a free, but questioned whether one should have been awarded to Pedersen for a similar incident. The manner in which he said it indicated to me that he shared the frustration over the imbalance in the umpiring.

- broke down the three key mistakes towards the end of the game. Jones quickly playing on he attributed to Jones not hearing the whistle so [censored] happens basically. Dawes bomb to no-one he said was clearly the wrong choice, but Dawes knew that as soon as he came off the ground. Grimes OOTF he said was the "most forgiveable" given the situation and the fact that Grimes has no option but to play on quickly and therefore attempt the risky kick under pressure.

- said he had not heard about the Malceski rumour until coming on the show and that he had not approached him. Did however confirm that a player like Malceski is needed, i.e. a running half back with clean distribution. Conceded that as good as our defensive group is, we lack a player of that ilk.

I thought the Grimes kick was a high degree of difficulty kick, in a situation that required the risk, that was errant by a centimetre.

Me and Roosy are Grimes apologists.

"We have started informally talking to guys (successor) but ensuring we are respectful to other guys at clubs. Keeping it casual to see who is interested. Would ideally like to have a shorter list by round 22. It will be a board and coaching panel decision. What we need is someone who has similar views on football as myself, we want constancy with a playing grow." (paraphrasing)

"Won't be longer than 3 years, wife has made huge sacrifices. Couldn't be longer than 3 years."

"Already spoken to Peter about continuing in some sort of capacity."

He wont stay longer than 3 years? Then how will he continue in some capacity

Confused

I agree, what difference would the role he plays at the club make to Tami? besides I am assuming he won't make 1.5 mil a year in another role

He wont commit to being a full time head coach beyond 3 which is a 24/7 gig, but probably open to a job as director football or something similar

Also made reference to finding a balance between clipping players over the ears (Neeld) and giving them a hug (Bailey).

"kick to the top of the square was a default mechanism from the Neeld game plan which we are still trying to shake from the players" (paraphrasing)

I heard 'fault'. Maybe I just hear what I want to hear. Haha.

Either way, clearly wasn't a fan of how the players had been trained.

What a crap interview ... Focused 90% on his coaching future & Caro trying to get a headline on a crap dinner with afl ceo FFS how about talking about player development & what's changed culture, development coaches... What's needed to play finals footy!

I would have loved him to expand on how we will make the transition from heavily defensive to more attacking. But I liked that he made mention of the fact that if you can score and make the opposition work harder in defence you make it easier for your own defence.

Roosy said on AFL 360 he has not contacted Nick Malceski, exactly the type of player we need right now, thinks he's in career best form

said they are interested in Ling but doesn't think he has made a decision whether to coach or not

I reckon Lenny Hayes might have just shortened

A bloke who wants to be a head coach but also has no baggage as his style the onlyway to play

Knows Lyons/ Roos types structures and style

Has credibility as a player who has performed on the big stage(norm Smith medal)

Will have a few years to get to know Roos who seemed to be pointing to real mentor role after transition

He said he loves all about MFC exec players supporters

Very positive interview on that issue alone

Hard now to see where the successor will come from.

Ling and Kirk are now out it seems.

Dews name came up again and I wonder about Bomber Thompson. Can't see him staying at Essendon, likes Roosy and was very positive about our game against Port.

The field seems way open again.

The consensus is Chip is gone and that comes as no surprise.

Interesting stuff i reckon. I think most of us are just expecting the 3rd year extension to be a done deal. Must say im not convinced after watching that interview.

Whilst it appears he wont be the successor, I still wouldnt rule out Ling coming to us as an assistant. Wonder what Bomber Thompson will be doing next year and beyond if JTurd regains control of the pharmacy???

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
