Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'm with Jumbo. Coach killers who already have Neeld's and Bailey's scalps. If Roos, Jackson and coaching staff don't act on them at the end of the year they will get the same tarnish as their predecessors and next year will be the same this one or last year or the year before that .

If you keep repeating the same practices you will keep getting the same outcomes.

Genuine question: who are the coachkillers? Can you list some, and why? Not just the poor players who try hard (Spencer?), but coachkillers.

Frawley, and has been for years, lazy and only works when he feels like it.Coaches think they have a beauty until he decides to have an average week.

Thank christ the other coach killer went to surf in cottesloe WA.

As it happens I like Spence so that might give you a clue on one of them but that's as far as I go. I actually like blokes who hold chest marks and kick goals from 25 metres out directly in front. Re the others, its the other senior blokes who turn up to play "sometimes", not every week like the good sides and I felt Roosys presser kind of touched on it in terms of some of our more senior players going back to the "here we go again" mentality and dropping off.

I actually watch other teams play and most weekends watch some good footy from most clubs.

After this week I am going to watch the best teams play for my own enjoyment. The Melbourne Football Club can get stuffed. I am over watching B grade football at this club for 2014.

We have so many bad footballers on our list it is just a waste of time until we recruit game breakers and speedsters to entertain us.

As Mark Neeld put it......It is what it is!!!! We are garbage

Apparently, Brazil wants to bring criminal charges against its players. It's high time we did the same. For mine incarceration and hard labour are the only answers. And floggings BBO.

shot at dawn for a week would be too merciful

What about refinancing the cases scorpions as part of the total spend so that our player contracts are based on our players performance levels. How our players value can currently be the same as other teams Geelong Fremantle Hawthorn as salary cap requires is beyond me

Players may have an unrealistic expectation of their power if they are economically rewarded too highly this can result in their failure to react to instructors etc

Some cold hard facts need to be communicated to the entire squad I hope PJ andPR know how to do this

Jazzy, when I think of blokes that were shelved like Jnr, Greene, Davey, and then I watch Watts on the weekend I can't find reason...watts is not in the same rung as those champions. Yes they were at the end but what they stood for was effort and heart and Watts doesn't have that.

Green and Davey are your examples, really?

Those two were less pushed than walking. And the club was better for it.

Robbo, Whelan, White, Yze and obviously McDonald - these are the guys who shouldn't have been kicked until they wanted to go.

Quite right. I don't think Watts went in as hard as he should have yesterday, but unlike the others he was doing his job by leading and running. Yet he's the first one we turn the torch onto, as Roosy said, because he's Jack Watts.

Yesterday, players like Frawley, McDonald, Bail and Matt Jones were the ones who didn't perform and yet they get off lighter.

Robbo was useless in the end. Should have gone 1 year earlier. Possibly White and Ooze as well. Wheels' body was shot. Junior and perhaps Brad Miller were the only 2 that could've been kept.

Was having a scroll through this then came upon them talking about the dees.

There is a footage of Roosy trying to rev the boys up from the weekends game. Only to see one Jack Watts paying no attention whatsoever and looking elsewhere. To me it is evident who does not give a stuff about his football or coach.

Should be giving roosy the death stare and focusing instead his head is in la la land.

Pull ya head in jack! Right to this point your nothing but a waste of talent and a major disappointment!

Seriously need to bite the bullet and trade him out at years end.

^ flat out ridiculous post.

How so machsy?

Would you see a luke hodge or Joel Selwood staring somewhere else when the coach is trying to bark instructions and rev the boys up?

The fact that its evident he is not one bit concentrating proves why he is a major disappointment.

Are you aware how stupid all this is?

You've seen the 2 whole seconds of footage, where Watts is focused with arms crossed and facing in Roos' general direction during an address, where Roos is predominantly facing away from Watts.

What the hell are you expecting from Watts?

I can't even figure out the stupidity required to think he has done something wrong here.

Is he staring somewhere else? Are you sure? Doesn't look like it to me.

If he is, what is wrong with that? Are all players seriously expected to stare into the coach's eyes in your book?

Does that therefore mean he is not listening?

Is it really "evident he is not one bit concentrating"? What utter rubbish!

What makes you so certain he is "paying not attention whatsoever"??

To extrapolate all of this supposition into Watts not "giving a stuff about his football or coach" is laughable.

How do we know he isn't thinking about some direct individual feedback he has received only seconds before?

How do you even know the address is relevant to something that Watts has influence over?

But instead you make the incredible leap to his "head being in la la land."

Idiotic mountains out of insignificant molehills.

Think FFS.

FFS you cannot be serious!??

I went to a coaching seminar at the start of this year where David Parkin was a guest speaker. He said you know your players are ready and focused when all eyes are firmly on him and no where else.

Enough said.

You are kidding, surely!

How exactly do you propose Watts makes eye contact with Roos in the 2nd of the 2 seconds of footage?

He'd have to physically move 3m to his left just to be able to see Roos' eyes.

You're trying to make it sound like he was looking at a 90 degree angle to where Roos was situated.

Watts' focus is fixed about 20cm from Roos' eyes at the most, by my reckoning.

As far as I'm concerned, if Watts is listening and taking in the message, it is irrelevant where his eyes lay.

As dictated by common bloody sense.

Btw, any chance you noticed if any other players were not maintaining eye contact with Roos for those 2 seconds..?

McDonald is staring blankly into the stands and Nathan Jones is staring at Chris Dawes' shoes...

Are you really judging his desire on 2 seconds of cut away footage?

As a captain who does those speeches every game - all players react different ways to what is being said and their attentions and facial expressions are as meaningless as you have taken meaning in Watts'.

You want eyes all the time, but holding grudges against the occasional wander is self-defeating - it's the kind of crap I heard Neeld was fond of to be perfectly honest with you.

AF, Bailey, is the best coach we've had in the last decade. Our recruitment has been s#it

In the last decade our coaches (excluding temporary fill ins) have been Neale Daniher, Dean Bailey, Mark Neeld and Paul Roos.

Now you've had some time to think, do you still put Dean Bailey at the top of that list? If so, why?

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
