Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Don't you love the way Chip keeps going on about how he's put off negotiations until the end of the year, at which point he will make his decision? Meanwhile there are all sorts of negotiations going on and we are expected to believe Chip has had no input.

Footy is lies.

The question isnt realy about Frawley. I dont think Frawley is a gun and yes a pick 5 could be a win but that draft pick wont come good untill around 2017/18 after development. In the mean time further senior players get jack of waiting for the club to come good and leave under FA. At some stage we have to convince that pick 5 and everyone else like him to stay past 6-8 years or what ever the FA criteria ends up being by then or we continually end up getting in kids or other rejects to fill gaps and never get the class mature list we need to win a flag. In effect we become a feeder club.

Malceski is 29 and would be great for a couple of years but Fawley is only 25 has a good 5-7 years left in him including his prime, Malceski is no replacement for Frawley.

I understand the emotive side because thats what drives our life long support of the club and I am no different. I hate our players bailing from the club and dont like FA. That being said FA was always inevitable but I doubt I wil get used to it.

I don't like losing players we spend time developing and I do agree with David King also about the lower clubs becoming feeder clubs for the top clubs - especially on higher profile type players.

I am not suggesting replacing Frawley with Malceski - I was pointing out that he is the next in a line get longer to wait until seasons end to weigh up his options.

I don't like FA either - the trick is not to get to emotionally attached to any players which is easier said than done. This will become the norm.

I dont think ive seen one person here that wants him to stay as long as we get a top 5 pick for him

I would rather keep a committed 2010 Frawley than get Pick 5 for him. He is just entering his prime and will be an asset to any team

Footy is lies.

He said he has put off contract discussion with us until the end of the year and of course his manager is fielding offers from rival clubs. Before you sit down with your current club you would want to know what is on offer from other clubs. And of course Chip will have input by expressing to his manager who he would like to play with and he wouldn't. Having said that - all recruiters who would want Frawley would have contacted his manager anyway so his manager would be telling Frawley who is interested.

It's just a game they all play.

You may not read too well.

I think there are a few here who would be happy with pick 5 as compensation for Frawley but would prefer him to stay. That is a big difference from wanting him to go as long as we get pick 5.

When we become a strong club FA will benefit us more and we will probably like it more. I say probably cause until it happens we won't know.

Unfortunately we have to become a strong club first which will take a number of yrs and in the mean time we now have to put up with players wanting to leave.

The change of our great club has started this season.

So everyone is criticising Frawley's 'loyalty' because he wants to put off contract negotiations to the end of the season, and he might go, but then they're jumping up and down with the prospect of getting Malceski, whose 'loyalty' to the Swans is that he wants to put off contract negotiations to the end of the season, and he might go?

Some FA double standards here.

Actually it's hypocrisy, but it is Demonland.......I don't blame the players these days, it is now a business, if we had success and we wanted to do a Buddy with an elite player and Frawely was the one the club decided to squeeze out (if he was a free agent and actually wanted to stay) to fit the Buddy in, the club wouldn't hesistate

Just visit who we should be trading for thread - have a look at all the suggestions on who we should be trying to get out of GWS - the likes of Cameron, Sheils and Tomlinson. I would be furious if our youngsters were being targeted. But these guys aren't from our club so all's good.

It's the changing nature of the game, made more so now with Free agency.

You will find that there will be some footballers that refreshingly place loyalty, love of the club and mates as a priority over financial gain. They are the players that we the supporters love all the more.

Unfortunately with a players limited career and opportunity to earn incredible sums of money ( or play with successful clubs) , and clubs trading out players without a moments thought about the player, club loyalty is a far less valued commodity for most players and will continue to diminish.

I haven't lost a minutes sleep over any player coming or going since I got well and truly Scull-ified two years ago.

The fact Scully dogged us and then we ended up getting Hogan and Dawes as a result, made me forever numb to any perceived wantaway machinations.

IF Chip goes and I think he will, I am troubled that if we get Malceski, he will cost us possibly pick 3-4. The AFL will not give us that pick if we get Malceski as a FA and we would probably get shafted again like we did when Rivers and Moloney left and we got nothing because Byrnes came across. That was scandalous when you look at what Port got for two average players, a pick for each.

I would rather a deal where for example we got say Mitchell and Malceski plus maybe a swap of picks to our advantage for say pick 4 or 5. That would allow us to improve our position in the draft and still get a couple of good players.

Otherwise I would stay away from Malceski if Chip leaves, but if he stayed I would be happy to add Malceski as a FA for a few years.

Yes but which club did they say that too? Saints and GWS? They may also be asking for something extraordinary for him to actually leave. But if they went out and said yup he'll leave for 7 years and $600k-$700k and a club said yes to that, I doubt many would stay if we offered him 3 at $500 (his probable actual value).

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt
