Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

GOODBYE MR. CHIP FRAWLEY

And bugger the wishes of supporters who are cool with him changing his tune during the season and consistently spitting out substance-less dribble in an attempt to make himself look like a person of integrity and loyalty etc.

Have you listened to any interviews of his Machsy? Or are your responses purely based on your irritation of what others' thoughts are on the situation?

For the one-hundredth time, if he'd said from the start 'I'm putting contract talks on hold and will decide on my future with the MFC at season's end' and then shutup about it for the rest of the year then myself and others wouldn't mind as much.

But he HASN'T that and he's said some things that in my opinion were thoughtless and pathetic.

Very well put steve.

He could have just said "no comment" but chose to open his mouth and change what he is saying from interview to interview.

He should have just kept his trap shut.

Some lets say "challenged" posters have difficulty understanding that though.

Why are you so upset by it?

If it annoys you, just don't watch his interviews.

I've probably seen them all.

But what do you propose he does when targetted by journos for questioning and numerous media outlets are requesting interviews with him?

He's not building it up himself. Plays a pretty straight bat, and says he'll decide later.

It's kinda funny to see people like yourself get your knickers in a twist.

Relax, we'll find out all in good time.

What's the hurry?

well we'll know soon enough

How soon is soon enough??

As RPFC alludes Im sure the compo "equation" ..."formula" call it what you will is probably nothing more than a round circle thinking of convenience made up on the fly. There seems to be more variation applied than any fixed determnations.

Now we know how the MRP maintain their form in the off season :-(((

The journalists are on his case because they smell a rat. Just like with the little twerp.

Nah...any higher profile footballer that comes into the FA window gets the same treatment. Daisy Thomas, Gibbs, Franklin all got the same hammering and gave the same lame responses.

Don't say that too loud here.

There are many here who buy into the loyal country boy theme. Apparently he can take his time and do whatever he wants.

Stuff creating a strong culture - they seemingly want the leadership vacuum at the MFC to live on forever.

Fortunately we now have Roosy and some imported senior leaders and some newly recruited junior players who want to change that.

Personally, I'm very disappointed that the loyal country boy is shaking his ass for the best possible offer, as he absolutely has to be a required player for the MFC. That he and his manager are flirting with the biggest cheque book makes me want a top 4 pick instead.

Unlike some here, I am absolutely partial to loyalty. I don't see that as being naive or unprofessional. In fact, I see the opposite view as being thoroughly uncritical, flabby and lazy in the extreme.

It's the changing nature of the game, made more so now with Free agency.

You will find that there will be some footballers that refreshingly place loyalty, love of the club and mates as a priority over financial gain. They are the players that we the supporters love all the more.

Unfortunately with a players limited career and opportunity to earn incredible sums of money ( or play with successful clubs) , and clubs trading out players without a moments thought about the player, club loyalty is a far less valued commodity for most players and will continue to diminish.

I haven't lost a minutes sleep over any player coming or going since I got well and truly Scull-ified two years ago.

Here, here.

I'm not a fan of FA, and agree with David Kings view on it with regard to the top clubs and stronger lists prolonging their stay at the top and cherry picking players to fill roles from the clubs in a prolonged development mode.

I'm desperate for this club to change Machsy.

Having an experienced senior player who is part of the leadership group display the same sort of behaviour as players like Sylvia makes me sick and tells me that there are still players we need to move on if we want to see a transformed club.

Frawley is a pea brain. I'm annoyed because he doesn't carry himself well on or off-field and it reflects badly on the club. Which is where my care is.

It seems I have to keep coming back to your posts but I would suspect that very few people actually share your views and I am not sure where you are seeing these things you keep posting.

Comparing Frawley to Sylvia ? Sylvia was a perennial tease on the ground - are you suggesting that over the course Frawley has been the same ? Off the field, Sylvia had a history of rumoured and actual indiscretions - to my knowledge Frawley has had nil.

I'm also interested as to why it reflects badly on the club - does that mean any player who decides to put his contract talks on hold ( and there is a mounting number of those these days) are reflecting badly on the club ?

Frawley is pea brain - I would agree that he isn't the sharpest tool in the shed. He doesn't carry himself well on the field ? Seriously ? He is just another player and a player that has plenty of strengths along with plenty of flaws. He doesn't drop his head and sulk and he is not petulant. Not sure where that comment comes from. He doesn't carry himself well off the field ? The only criticism you can make as to his off field behaviour is not signing a contract to a timetable that supporters would like. He is not the only footballer in the AFL delaying his contract neogtiations these days and will certainly not be the last.

I think you will have to accept that this delaying of contractual arrangements is going to become the norm, especially with FA or you are going to become disenchanted with most of the list in coming years.

I doubt Gary Lyon knows much at all, he spends too much time with Barrett. I loved him as a player but his involvement with the club post playing career has been nothing short of abominable.

oh, I sense gazza somtimes knows more than he lets on, to his telly mates... keeps some things in-house?

Anyone know how to remove those plastic-y numbers from the back of the jumper?

I'm also fielding suggestions for a replacement number. 3 could be the go.

Pretty good assessment of Frawley and i agree that FA is here so we need to get used to players delayng conracts to maximise the pay but. The bottom line for me is that the MFC will find a move up the ladder long and hard if as has been the case the majority of the developed players hitting their prime move on under FA. We can all argue the relative merits of the FA losses and gains to date but long term if we loose the majority of developed players when they hit the FA criteria it is a bad thing. Yes at times we will pick up players like Vince from other clubs but the trend of the best players going to successful clbs will ensure that we will loose over time.

We need Frawley to hang around because all Australian developed backmen dont grow on trees. If Frawley leaves we are back to having to find a key back and key forward (replacing Clark) and adding depth and class to the midfield. That is not a one year fix.

Not bad, but I'm looking for a long term investment.

Come on mate, #7

That's a good one. I think the most likely will be 3, 7 or 12. Tough decision to make.

I'm neither here or there on him staying. I think he has value for the club but equally I think we could possibly trade very well for pick 5ish ( a risk I know).

I am just bemused by the hand wringing and character assassination that is happening over something that is now almost a common theme with all clubs. ( add Malceski to the list)

The question isnt realy about Frawley. I dont think Frawley is a gun and yes a pick 5 could be a win but that draft pick wont come good untill around 2017/18 after development. In the mean time further senior players get jack of waiting for the club to come good and leave under FA. At some stage we have to convince that pick 5 and everyone else like him to stay past 6-8 years or what ever the FA criteria ends up being by then or we continually end up getting in kids or other rejects to fill gaps and never get the class mature list we need to win a flag. In effect we become a feeder club.

Malceski is 29 and would be great for a couple of years but Fawley is only 25 has a good 5-7 years left in him including his prime, Malceski is no replacement for Frawley.

I understand the emotive side because thats what drives our life long support of the club and I am no different. I hate our players bailing from the club and dont like FA. That being said FA was always inevitable but I doubt I wil get used to it.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
