Do you not think a player, especially a one club player would not be looked after post career by the club and it's supporters.

Do not be so naive as to believe the rubbish about a player only having x years to make as much as possible as these players will have opportunities post playing that you and I would view as dream jobs and never get. Even players who are at the lower end of the pay scale but have been in the system for a while are on good dollars, receive the opportunity to further their education/trade gratis and make contacts in big business via club coteries.

When was the last time you saw an ex footballer in the unemployment line?

Players are well catered for not only during their playing career but also post career and to think otherwise is also a romantic notion.

I tend to agree with most of what you are saying.

People who say that footballers only have 5-10 years to make a living, seem to think that after they retire at 28 or 30 or 35 they should be able to settle into a cushy 30-50 years of leisure?

Hey guys - even those who play to 35 have another 30 years or more until reaching the age that most of us mere mortals can even consider retirement, or winding back.

Can't they get of their arses and do something, like a real job, not footy related media which clearly they can't all fit into nor do most have the aptitude or intelligence to do, to top up what should be a considerable next egg if they manage their footy income at all sensibly?

Well the cats are clearly into him having watched the footy show, Scott clearly has met Frawley.

I'm not 100% sure, but I thought clubs weren't allowed to meet with the player personally during the season, just their management? I saw it too and it was obvious he has personally spoken to chip

Would be interesting if PJ asked the AFL to investigate a potential breach of free agency rules, not that it would come to much, i'm sure our club is doing the same thing

So Barrett on TFS says that Geelong, Hawthorn and Suns have made pitches to Frawley.

While Robbo says he has committed to Collingwood.

The bloke is 95% gone. I don't believe he has committed to the Pies and all that garbage, but I do believe he is basically gone. Deep down the club knows it, we know, and he knows it. The sooner he mans up and says he is going the sooner we can move the hell on and never talk about him again.

I don't think it has anything to do with manning up, and I'm happy to wait either way.

Either we keep a decent mature KPP, or we get a very early pick, that very likely will help us acquire the gun(s) that see us climb the ladder.

It's a win-win situation for us, and I can handle waiting a little while before knowing the truth.

whether hes gone or not....and I think its 99 and abit % he is there is simply no agreed method for this.

So we dance the dance. I dont even blame Chip for that. What can he do really. He ( lets say for argument ) agrees in principle to another club. Nothing can be singed ( well dated...and so is moot ) until eos . All that can happen is a gentlemen's agreement sts.

...

Conversely...the 'receiving' club would be mad to SEAL a deal until they know the real worth of the situation.

and....so....we wait...we all do

Happy to wait - don't want what the NRL has.

I don't know if he has signed elsewhere, frankly on the day that Jeff Farmer has an interview on the club website extolling his love of the club he spent 7 years at, I am not about the burden myself with the hate of another Demon while he is still a Demon.

Lets be honest, if frawley leaves and that compo pick results in us landing Jeremy Cameron people will be saying Chip who? and marvelling at how we have without a doubt two of the most exciting key forward prospects in a long time

Good news for us if tonights stories have some truth, 4 clubs in the hunt could mean a bidding war, would like a committed to the cause Frawley to stay but if he leaves so be it, others have left and we have moved on

Obviously he's speaking to other clubs, but I don't directly relate that to him being 'gone'. I would've though that reaffirms that he's seeing what's out there and then making his decision.

If he was gone then why is he speaking to multiple teams? That would indicate he just wants to play anywhere but here (maybe that's true, but I doubt it). When Ablett, The Liar and Buddy all left there wasn't a circus of speaking to multiple clubs. It was a desire to get to one particular club. Whereas I think Cloke took a similar path to Chip, and stayed.

What's happening actually points mostly towards seeking out his options, hearing ours post season, then making a call.

Disappointing that he's speaking to everyone else but us, but we move on. Just like Jimmy said, the AFL has set up an environment that forces young players to lie.

Best of luck Chippa, now we move on.

Yeh disappointing he hasn't sat down with us, but in terms if trying to gauge the lay of the land, what else can he do? Wait until the hawks and Cats finish in late September?

What if he's seeing what he can get, then let us make our pitch against it, and make a decision post that?

That's what Cloke did. Whereas The liar was going to GWS a year earlier, Ablett probably the same to GC and Buddy to Sydney. As far as I can recall they didn't scope out other clubs.

While a lot of people here label him as gone, there hasn't been a consistent reason as to why exactly. If it's money, then how does he know we won't offer more? If it's success, that can't be assured and we might be a good option depending what unfolds in the next few months.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
