Actually a point , if rolling the dice isnt a poor result as it gives you possession and then its up to you

That takes a quick mind.

You are spot on BB, it would have given us a chance to re load and control possession as a centre bounce after a goal is by no means a definate win for us at this stage. I know it is all good and well in hindsight (I would be the richest man on earth if I did possess that), but in that circumstance a rushed behind would have been a better result than the goal.

There was 3:25 to go....

There was 3:25 to go....

Those quarters went on forever.

We should have conceeded the behind and given ourselves the chance to go again.

We lost because we played awful football for 40 minutes, but if you watch that last quarter again, especially the last few minutes, we were seriously robbed of a couple of holding the ball decisions that could have made a world of difference.

Then again, Jack Watts kicks that goal as he should, and maybe it's game over.

Gees we are a frustrating team.

and don't forget the one he missed from dead in front in first qtr running into the fwd 50. should have been a simple gimme for jack

I am happy to go on the record and say that if someone is willing to pay Chip 700 large plus, I hope it isn't us.

I hope some of you watched Footy Classified last night.. Garry Lyon finally came out and gave Frawley a proper "serve". What he said was absolutely spot on... As I said in my posts on this topic..See my Posts numbers 300 ... 307 and 310.... The guy is so over rated... (my opinion)

Yes I watched it and was so disappointed in Garry Lyon because his view was, why would someone pay top dollar for a bloke that has both poor disposal and makes poor decisions.

Described Frawley as a good reader of the play that is able to very often beat an opponent, however, doesn't provide much else.

As I said recently, when was the last time Frawley was in the best 3 on the ground?

I wonder if this thread will beat the Scully thread for posts???

Your point ?? If people keep trying to justify Frawley is worth more than any other player..it should "beat the Scully thread" Our club does not NEED Frawley...!!!

In how many of our 4 wins so far did Frawley play back? None.

Hogan is the key forward we need down there, not the Frawley band aid approach.

Saw Roos on the TV tonight firmly putting the pressure on him, said it is time to say if he is staying or not.

saw it too..Funny he actually made a point of not making the point, but that it should happen soon.

Was interesting. Very Roos !!! lol

And fair enough too

Frawley would have 100% made his mind up by now

If hes decided to leave and isn't telling the club then hes a pansy

IMO he cant say cause he has already agreed to go to either Hawks or GC.

We should have got this answer out if him last trade period and got rid of him but hey that's FA.

Just a hypothetical then

As I see it bb there are only two

- they continue to play him as though nothing has happened but unless nthere are injuries it will be in the forward line. why take hiom out at either end of the ground there is no one who can give a better result. as well we need every win going why decrease the chances?

- drop him to casey, don,t think it would happen as it is dead set give away he is leaving.

and then around round 19/20 Jesse Hogan steps onto the stage...FWD line

Might get interesting but suspect OD will still be right and we'll load up the front end

I don't expect Roos would be particularly impressed with Frawley from a club leadership perspective.

Nate Jones, and virtually all other really effective senior leaders from other clubs who are determined to be one club players, would not be approaching this negotiation in the way Frawley has IMO.

To my mind, it has appeared opportunistic. And it is causing some harm to the club IMO - if only because it is disrupting the 'we've turned the corner' narrative and it is slightly destabilising the momentum that's occurred under Roos.

And before anyone cites Boak, Pavlich or Cloke, the list of senior players who would willingly sign up to their respective clubs well before the season end is much, much longer - other than, obviously, if they are actually intending to leave.

This is perhaps the very reason as to why Frawley is likely to be so sought after. Most other good senior players put ink to paper a long time ago - and the list of decent UFAs is now pretty skinny.

If Brett Kirk's Paul Roos' benchmark for club leadership, I'd say he's pretty underwhelmed by what he's observing with our Chip Frawley.

Gary Lyon tore him to shreds and now roosy, I wonder what's bought this on

Tiger ?? I am definitely not split on the call.....I was frustrated watching him on Sunday...Slow thinker, slow mover .. Especially at the point the Bulldogs kicked the winning goal !! That kind of player will never take us into the finals... I say again...We do not need him.. !! (unless he is in the bottom five salary earners at the club)... Just saying...

His lack of importance to the club.. FFS Why are people thinking we need him so badly.???.. He will NEVER be a match winner (in my opinion)... We need players that at least APPEAR to have the MFC at heart..Frawley is not one of them..!!

I will mention Boak and Cloke.

Criticise his onfield leadership, he deserves it. Criticise his inconsistency.

But I for one do not think that a player taking full advantage of his earned FA is failed leadership.

This is a very public contract discussion and comparisons to other leaders are fraught. I have heard that Nathan Jones was very close to being a Bomber a couple years ago. Does that make him less of a leader of that group? Or even our club?

I don't think it does, he is leading professional football players, and he has been faultless as the face of this footy club in the last few years.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
