  1. Bulldogs proved my point ..Just Saying..
  2. Well written and all so true... Danger ??? Not if we "turn up" like last week..
  3. Had a couple of chances this year..Has potential and needs to bulk up before he "hits" the big time again..Next year... NOT against Brisbane..We need to be firing and ready to really put in against Brisbane.. We have a habit of slackening off against lower ranked teams.. Definitely do NOT need the "Weed" in there... Not yet learned composure at senior level and too easily pushed aside..
  4. Just ONE of those listed has been a regular this year, (Salem ... patchy) therefore the list has no REAL effect on the team's performances... We need a few who are NOT injured to put in a bit more..Petracca (whom I like ), Wagner, Weiderman (hope he doesn't play again this year) to mention just three. Viney is definitely still carrying an injury and Misson has a lot to answer for if he "cleared" him to play.. We have a good enough playing list to really cause some problems if/when we make finals but our forward line just need to give four quarters (not two) ..
  5. THE AFL HAS CREATED A PRECEDENT THIS YEAR IN THAT IT HAS, FOR SOME REASON, DECIDED TO GIVE ALL TOP 8 FINALISTS A WEEK OFF BETWEEN THE LAST ROSTER GAME AND THE COMMENCEMENT OF THE FINALS SERIES.I BELIEVE THIS GIVES TEAMS FINISHING FROM FIFTH TO EIGHTH A WELCOME BREAK , WHICH WILL CERTAINLY HELP THOSE TEAMS RECOVER FROM WHAT WILL BE AN ENERGY SAPPING LEAD UP TO THE FINALS AND AN ADVANTAGE THEY WOULD NOT NORMALLY HAVE RECEIVED. (Good for Dees if we make it) TEAMS FINISHING IN THE TOP FOUR WILL NOT ENJOY THE SAME ADVANTAGE AS PREVIOUS TOP FOUR CONTENDERS, BY VIRTUE OF THE FACT THE WINNERS WILL PROCEED DIRECTLY TO THE PRELIMINARY FINALS, WHICH IN PAST YEARS HAS GIVEN THEM THE ADVANTAGE OF A TWO WEEK REST WHICH WAS REWARD FOR FINISHING TOP FOUR. . UNDER THIS YEAR'S FORMAT, THOSE TWO TEAMS WILL ONLY HAVE PLAYED TWO MATCHES IN VIRTUALLY FOUR WEEKS. THIS IS NOT A GOOD FORMULA FOR RETAINING THEIR VERY TOP MATCH FITNESS. THE SYSTEM WILL FAVOUR MORE THAN BEFORE THE TEAMS FINISHING FIFTH TO EIGHTH. I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED TO SEE A TEAM OUTSIDE THE TOP FOUR ADVANCE TO THIS YEAR'S GRAND FINAL, WHICH HAS NOT HAPPENED IN RECENT AFL HISTORY. THE AFL'S ATTEMPTS TO COUNTERACT TEAMS THAT FIELDED VERY WEAK SIDES IN THE LAST ROUND OVER THE LAST COUPLE OF YEARS IN ORDER TO REST THEIR BEST PLAYERS IS A WEAK ONE AND NOW ASSISTS TEAMS WHICH DO NOT MAKE THE TOP FOUR. TEAMS FINISHING IN THOSE POSITIONS EARNED THEM OVER A GRUELLING TWENTY TWO ROSTER GAMES AND SHOULD NOT NOW LOSE THAT ADVANTAGE. Coaches want pre-finals bye banished (August 5th.,2016) EVERY one of the AFL's senior coaches is against the post-round 23 bye, which was introduced as a measure to prevent controversial selection tactics on the eve of the finals.
  6. The players probably "look at themselves" in the mirror and probably too often. Just saying
  7. It is sad some of us have come to the point of thinking like that, but I sadly have to agree with you. There is not much joy in an AFL footy season for me any more. I wish Tassie had a team of it's own. The Dees are also linked to my family through my Dad and his Dad etc.
  8. Go elsewhere ??? Not many of them would be "employed" elsewhere. Many of them on OUR list would certainly notice !
  9. Not good enough. A little joy would be to at least PLAY a finals game. I do not give a toss if we win 12 games, if we do not make the top eight, then I am not happy. Then we must progress further until another Premiership Cup is in our cupboard (the ultimate prize) I envy a little those supporters who have only been members for 4 or 5 years as they they have not had to bear the pain I have since 1964. At least I did see us win our last Flag. lol.
  10. I agree with you, DeeZee. We give our hard earned to this Club and I for one think we are entitled to a reasonable return and not the miserable cr*p this club is presenting to us.You are PAYING for the "privilege" of watching the rubbish they throw up , which is incorrectly called entertainment and professionalism. What a (not so funny) joke. It may be just a sport and no one has died, Melb16, but for some it is more than that and to those who think it is just a "sport", there in lies our cultural problem. Just saying.
  11. If you feel that badly, why buy a membership ? They won't notice you are missing . Don't give them your hard earned. If you do not buy a membership it will be noticed. Why not go the "whole hog" and register your complete disapproval ? I am thinking along those lines . If enough of us get serious and do the same , it will eventually hurt. Anyone thinking that would not help the Club needs to think along the lines of "what bloody difference is my membership making now ?" The Club is stuffed regardless.
  12. The players, as far as I can see, would not give a toss !! Why would emails from Members/supporters bother them. Nothing else appears to. They (many of them) do not possess much character from where I sit. Caring about what we say , it appears, is not part of their "culture". It is time we made a more serious stand. What are we getting for our Membership fees ? Why are we paying membership fees at all ? It is achieving nothing and is well earned money badly invested. I have been a Melbourne Supporter since I was 11 (1958) and an interstate paid up Member for many years and I have come to the point where I have almost had enough. When I look at some of the younger brigade on our list, I think maybe we have a brighter future and we SHOULD have but I am probably not "clever" enough to analyze the reasons we are not performing on the field and I do not subscribe to now 10 year old theories like "we WILL be there" "it takes time" "they are a young developing side" "the coach is no good" .. NO, something else is sadly missing.. I may not understand the current generation of players when we get flogged they do not seem to hurt enough, they are too "friendly" with the opposition . I come from a long line of sports people. Some of my family (and I) were involved in professional cycling, boxing, football and more and I just do not get this bloody smiling, laughing business from losers. I always hurt when I lost in any sport I participated in. I was this year inducted into the Hall of Fame in Tenpin Bowling, which I took on competitively after I finished football and cricket in 1975 and I can assure you despite what some people may think about Tenpins, it is an extremely competitive sport at the top level and I hated losing but never blamed anyone but myself. Am I too old fashioned ?? I love this Club or at least I loved it a little more a few years back. Where are we heading ? It is so frustrating and embarrassing to keep supporting this once mighty Football Club. Rant over (for now)
  13. What I hate is when a lot of supporters come up with " I love the boys", You have to stay loyal" stick with them" , "If you knock them and threaten not to renew your membership you are not loyal" etc., etc. Well I AM loyal and continuing to follow and support this team since 1958 proves I am probably too loyal and I need to see a shrink. I love this Club but I do not love the [censored] served up too often this year and many more before. Too many "pea" hearts and we are far too slow. We seem to be playing with no purpose , no game plan still, even under Roosy. Nobody seems to be able to get us out of this "casual" mentality. Unfortunately our culture changed many years ago and we seem to have developed a lot of less than acceptable attitudes and not much grit . I wonder what the great Ronald Dale Barassi is thinking as he sits and watches this once great and mighty Club disintegrate. From reading a lot of comments posted by the younger brigade on social media, I get the distinct impression they do not understand the great culture, pride and once respected position this club once held. Unfortunately they have never seen it and at this rate maybe never will. I have seen clubs have terrible years and fall behind us , only to rise again and leave us wallowing in our own destruction. My love for this club is sadly strained. Rant over.
  14. I think he is one of our most courageous players, Takes a battering most games but picks himself up and gets on with it. No whinging when free kicks go against him, even when he was obviously legged on Saturday. I admire him. Reads the play well and finds a target most times. Definitely part of our future.
  15. Must be the most criticized player in the AFL (by his own Club Members) Get off his bloody back... He doesn't select himself in the side..
  16. Did his time ever happen ??? Same with the other two..Shocked they are still a part of this team..
  17. Not being one-eyed, but we certainly weren't given much of a chance to get rid of it today..Cost us a couple of times..
  18. Colin is looking a bit slow in the modern game..Not Looking good.. I have been a fan .
  19. Loyalty obviously goes with the famous number 2 ...May it continue that way.. Well said Nathan.
  20. A true Champion of the game , for our Club and in life. Always made time for everybody whenever he could. Met him at a local North Hobart Demons Dinner in Hobart. He was the guest speaker. He willingly autographed my evening program. Wonderful man..Condolences to his family.. R.I.P. Robbie..
  21. Socially he may be a [censored], but have you guys seen him run the ball from defence down the wing and can even get the goal? Dees are missing a running defence player, he has loads to offer our club, bring him in and drop Terlich, also bring Jack frost in too and trade toumpass and pick 3 for Dangerfield with Hogan set to be a gun and Salem with JKH developing nicely for next year with a Billy stretch we will have a great side and trade pick 2 and get another Tyson Salem type trade and we are bloody laughing...
  22. That's why our current culture is like it is..!! Because of these types of so called Members !! I agree ,,,GET A CLUE !! for the sake of our Club's future..
  23. We need a bit of "grunt" as the current crop don't have any.. Well, 75% of them..What the hell (demon terminology) do we have to lose ?. We don't have ANYTHING to lose as far as I can see..lol Bring 'em on !! Bargain prices..
  24. I do not think he is worth more than maybe $200,000.00...Why the hell is this over rated player grabbing so much attention..Please, Frawley ..GO !!!
