Brayshaw has a lovely kick on him, seems to constantly hit his target. I won't be complaining come draft night if he's in the red and blue, actually if he's not I'll be extremely disappointed.

Angus certainly delivers the Sherrin very well by foot however as BB suggests we have little idea how he performs in close/under real pressure.

Based on what I saw at the Champs, he did have a tendency to slam the ball on the boot from clearances, would have preferred to see a bit more composure and use his hands more in tight.

Kicking is very good when he has time and space.

Don't mind that Chaser for one so young, will limit him getting caught if he can get first hands on the ball and whilst could end up going straight back over his head with a turnover could also result in giving us some forward ascendancy.

Think with more exposure to the game at AFL level more composure will come. Who knows time will tell

I agree. From what I recall he looked slower than Jimmy Toumpas in his highlight package.

Was it just me or did those highlights seem to be played in slow motion/half pace?

I get frustrated with these highlight packages as they never seem to show much of general play contested footy stuff. Under no pressure he can kick it very well but remember most players take a fair while to learn to kick well at AFL level because they just don't have the time they did in junior footy.

He can take a good mark for his size but I can't get a handle on his lateral movement or speed, two things I think are critical. From all reports we'll take him and while I'll trust our recruiters I don't expect much the first year.

I don't have a particular problem with a lack of pace for someone in his role. Contested inside midfielders don't need speed (especially at his size) as long as they can win the inside ball consistently and put up high numbers. In confined spaces, you can do your defensive duties without needing to be quick (a la Bartel, Kennedy, Mitchell etc).

The problem Jack T has is that he isn't good enough at winning the inside ball. That's where he gets exposed, because he's pitted against quick outside players in open space.

And I fully agree with you about the highlights packages. They show a lot of the flashy outside stuff, but rarely the nitty gritty boring inside stuff.

What are people's view. The consensus in the press seems to be that Petracca is the better but from what I've read Roosy and D's seem to have been heavily into Brayshaw right from the beginning of the year. What are the comparisons between the two.

Fairly ridiculous assertion.

There was a reason Mitchell wasn't drafted for 2 years and when he was, he went pick 36. You're not drafting players necessarily for what they will do tomorrow. It's drawing a long bow to say he doesn't have he lateral movement.. He hasn't had an AFL training session and two he's 18 years old.

We shouldn't be comparing any of these players to fully fledged footballers because they simply aren't that, but I believe we're allowed to enjoy what he does well currently which is make good decisions under pressure and execute good skills. Some people just aren't ever happy.

as the rotations/interchanges reduce, JT will find more space & his pace, or recent pace will matter less. he was quicker pre foot injury. around the time he was trying to get stronger.

I think we should hang onto him & get him right, he hasn't totally broken that bone so it still is alive. viable IMO ?

Petracca is a better mark and more damaging forward and he's probably just got a bit more x factor. A little more burst and power in his game.

Brayshaw trained with us, Roos obviously has a link to the Sandy dragons, he looks the clear 2nd rated midfielder in the draft. So it all seems convenient and he's a hard working disciplined player so of course Roos will like him. I'm not buying in to it too much that we are liking him for some special reason besides he's a very good young footballer.
