He left training early yesterday, seemed to have a bit of tightness in his back/hammy, had one of the physios trying to loosen it up, said he was ok, but obviously not

I wonder if h_h thinks that our 'incompetent medical and fitness staff' have over or under-reacted here. Whichever, I think he will say it was the wrong choice.

Think we have a good team in this week >Took a lil action on The Dees at $4.75 Good odds I think given our season thus far.

Cant wait to wave the Tigers fans home half way through the last quarter

Should be great !!

7.60 for 1-19 points

Toigs playing for a club legend. Would really like us to play well this weekend. Good test for us, should give us more idea of where the playing groups at.

Vickery and Reiwoldt are the keys here. Frawls usually does a number on R, with him out, or if he had of played up fwd I think that will be the test for us. We have improved defensively all year but those 2 are key to keep quiet.

Prediction: The journos will write in Sunday's papers one of the following. Either that the Tigers were revved up for the game because of Tommy or, alternatively, the emotion of the day was too much for them. Let's hope it's the second.

It upsets me how inevitable this is.

Similar things were discussed before and after our first game after the untimely demise of our beloved Jimmy.

Salem to start forward as a 1:1 for Byrnes.

Max to FF, rotating with Jamar

Peterson to head back to cover Vickery /resting Maric

Dunn to take Riewolt

Pig dog as sub

What happens in the middle determines the outcome.

Should be a cracker!

I think it was Sam Newman (dolt that he is) said that these 'emotional occasions' have an impact for about the first minute of the game and then it is business as usual

Driving home tonight I heard we are now over $5 with the margin being 31.5 points.

That seems pretty high, I don't normally bet on football but I might tomorrow.

We are a good thing this week, absolute morals.

We'll win the ruck and chew up the contested ball, there is no one to stop us.

Definitely match up better against the Tigers - than we do against the Bullies, and Adelaide.

Providing we have Jamar in, teams with soft midfields will find it hard to beat us.

Richmond have no contested ball winners, certainly none that will compete with Jones and Viney.

Jamar will get first use, we'll get first crack at it and Cotchin won't get his usual numbers.

We should tag Dustin Martin, because he is the only guy for the Tigers that could damage us.

My main concern is that the tiges will be fired up cause of TH. Whether they can sustain it I am not sure but time will tell. Edited by DemonOX

Id love to know how many times we've had to face a team the very next game after something like this occurs to fire them up.

No disrespect to Tommy. Just seems with often get to be the "other' team

I believe the tigers have a weakness for the really hard stuff and we will expose that

In the past, ( not that long ago either ) I dont think we would have been mentally tough enough to just go out there and play OUR game.

I think we are much better now. Roos will have them ready

I dont think it will mean that much to 25 year olds who probably will have met him hardly at all

If anything we are advantaged

Re hafey I dont believe it will have any positive impact for richmond

Indeed a distraction

No He is not that type of player at the moment, he is the more see ball get ball, clearance player

Who would you compare Riley to in the AFL in terms of playing style and similarities.

Couldn't agree more bb seems like nearly very time something of significance occurs we r in the other end of it.

Time to stop rot so to speak.

I doubt that the passing of Tommy will have any effect on the game at all, once the players get out there it's just another football march.

I like Howe up forward with Maxy and Kennedy-Harris at their feet.

Have to be a defensive nightmare.

I don't think Howe is going to spend much time forward this year - I think Roos is trying to make something of him.

I am not convinced he can be anything other than a HFF with one very good trick, but we will see...

You might be right about his development down back. I think like Blease, they are forwards who need to learn how to run both ways, play defensive, etc...

Was named at HFF next to Gawn, so I'm hoping to see a step ladder moment... ;)

I see Riley is named as a follower for the Scorpions on the MFC website. Don't our different arms talk to each other (or are there two Riley's)?

    TRAINING: Wednesday 19th February 2025

Demonlander The Analyser was the sole Trackwatcher out at Casey Fields today to bring you the following observations from this mornings preseason training session. Training  was at Casey today. It consisted of a match simulation for one half  and then a free choice activity time. Activities included kicking for goal,  aerial , contest work etc. I noticed the following players not in match simulation Jack Viney  running laps and looks fine for round one . I think Kolt looks like he’s im

    TRAINING: Wednesday 12th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. Firstly the bad news - McVee went down late, which does look like a bad hammy - towards the end of match sim, as he kicked the ball. Had to

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
