So that's two of you, any more?

Not here saty. There is no way Roos will drop Terlich, no way. Running out of credits? I must be watching a different game to some others because he's done nothing this season but add credits to his bank. One of the first picked on form but given the importance of a settled back line is an absolute week week out lock.

my die hard doggies mate claims their back line is pathetic, and non functional. Perhaps Fitzy could rattle a few in there? Albeit i would prefer Frawley, BIG TIME.

Big Max Gawn is the one. Strong second ruck and an awesome high mark in the square. I am a big fan of fitzy, but I simply don't think he has the power of Max nor the intimidation factor. I would play him even if Chip was available.

Most, if not everybody, seems to applaud Terlich's courage and attack on the ball. The only 'knocks' are his occasional poor decision making and the unfortunately more-than-occasional poor disposal. Whilst those failings are an undoubted liability in the back half, the consequences would not be so dire if he was playing high half-forward. Just imagine how much 1st year players like JKH and Salem would benefit from having Terlich barging into (and through) packs creating spillages to benefit from. Shifting him up field would also create a spot for Clisby who is crying out for a game in the senior team.

The player I least want to run the ball from the backline is Terlich. Love everything about his game except his DE. Garland for Terlich (he plays tall and small anyway).

Gawn for Frawley to stretch them. I'm still on the fence with Fitzy.

Riley or Evans for Viney if required.

While the suspensions are frustrating, if it's because our players are playing hard as nails that's a positive we can take away from it.

Kent would've been a straight slot for Viney though, so that's a shame. Could be Riley's chance now, Michie would be too far off because of his broken jaw. Oh, by the way, who got suspended for breaking Michie's jaw? Nobody? Nobody even sighted? Yeah, thought so.

I think he got two weeks.

Corey Dell'Ollio got sighted off the video and got 3 weeks for rough conduct for contact with Michie which broke his jaw.

I stand corrected! Geez we haven't heard much from Michie this year since he was dropped. Let's hope he can get himself back into the side ASAP, he's got promise.

Pretty much the changes I'd go for as well. A good opportunity for Riley to get his first crack if Viney gets done, a like for like scenario and I reckon he'd relish the chance to get out there on the G. Probably play him as the sub.

Frawley's going to be named but Roos didn't seem to want to commit to saying he'd play, he's not going to train tomorrow so no one take that to mean anything. Gawn provides a tall target up forward and gives Jamar a chop out option in the ruck, although Pedo's actually doing a decent job of that currently.

Col Garland has to come in for someone and I'd say Georgio would be the most likely to come out, I'd even be up for giving him a week off after his collision. The other option would be to play Garland forward and keep Georgio in Chips place should he not get up.

From the VFL reports it sounds as if Clisby and Riley are the nearest to the mark, and Roos has apparently said he expects Frawley to play. Garland is a no-brainer if he has sufficient miles in the legs.

Out: Viney, Georgiou

People on this thread seem more optimistic than I am about Watts playing

Was a worrying look at the time with a back spasm but he seemed to be ok in the second half so I hope so. Playing injured/sore and still getting out there and performing would be big for Watts.

Why Salem? Don't understand that at all. I would have thought he has done everything asked of him and more. There is no justification for dropping him at all IMHO..

I think Salem will be OK in time, but Garland's better. And rest of team doing ok...

Georgio rates higher than Salem at the moment IMO

Very different players though, if anything I would be giving Salem a crack at the starting 22.

Walked a lap or two quite gingerly yesterday, will be interested to see how he goes at training tomorrow

Assuming all injury and suspension free...

In - Colin Garland

Out - Christian Salem

You know Shannon Byrnes is somehow still in the team, right?

Salem does more in 5 minutes than Byrnes does in a quarter.

I doubt Salem has 120 min of footy in him at this level, and believe Byrnes can and has been playing as a defensive forward to shut down opposition rebounding HBs, a role I suspect he can do better than Christian, at this stage.

Garland can play as a third tall forward/back as required... so Salem out and Colin in.

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
