So glad we picked him up.

One of the few constantly good competitors in our season so far.

Remarkable to see that he's just turned 31: the way he's going so far he could play on for at least a couple more years. How embarrassing it must be for one or two of our high draft picks.

Mr Cross thank you for choosing the Melbourne Football Club.

Great pick up, Cross is a leader and teacher.

He adds a lot to our club.

Smartest recruiting decision in years. Plays like he has been a Demon for 20 years. Hope we can keep him on the list for a few more seasons yet if his body will keep up the pounding it gets.

I really love his in game smarts. Knows how to hold up play, draw professional free kicks when he's in a 50/50 he was bound to lose etc etc. Like having a coach out there. Great pick up.

Problem is leadership was a big reason for some of our problems. Leadership is now there, be it the coaches or players like Cross, pity some players choose not to follow the example set.

dare i say almost ALL (if not all) of Roosy's pick ups have proven to be the right ones.

Look forward to see perhaps who he "lets go" and recruits at the end of this season.

yep, and he WILL cut the list to the surprise of a few people.

he is a winner and wont muck around with maybes.

croiss has been my supercoach best pick so far.

spelling mistake in there for you, just to get you back into school habits.

I agree.

There was one moment in the Carlton game that stood out for me. When Curnow got legged by Crossy. It was a professional free kick designed to stop Curnow's getting clear but the reaction afterwards was what impressed me. Despite having fallen over, Crossy was almost like the T-1000 in that final scene in the original Terminator when he was trying to get to Sarah Connor despite losing half a leg. Crossy kept crawling towards Curnow and clawing at him like a crazed beast. Great to see!

And there will still be cuts. And I'm betting a lot of people will be aghast at who some of them are!

Hopefully he is rewarded for his efforts, how much more has he added to he team compared to other mature aged recruits. We should look at drafting more of these types, Paul Chapman is another who I would have loved to see in the red and blue, but he looks good in the red and black.

totally agree never wastes a possession and always makes a contest to the team advantage. King of 1% ers... should be studied by all of the team

Posted

I hope that part of his contract or a verbal agreement is in place that he joins our coaching panel when he quits playing

When we have let go the downhill skiers and lazy players ( About 12 at the moment) the club will be in a position to challenge teams like this again

I knew he was a good in and under player, but I hadn't watched a lot of Footscray over the years, so I didn't know the extent of it. Sometimes he ends up first on the ball when he has no right to. I thought he'd be a good match for the club as soon as he became available, and so far I couldn't be more pleased.

I love the way he goes in hard and never gives up. Always has some sort of bandage on his head by the end of the game. He shows no fear. Love it that he is now a Demon.

Clearly not a positive though......

Yep. Cross and JKH massive positives for me so far. JKH obviously a long road ahead but love the early signs.

It's no accident that Cross leads the tackle averages so far this season, 4th in clearances and 6th overall in effective disposals.

Let's hope he can keep it up. Been a huge helping hand through the middle so far and is providing Jonesy with a decent chop out.

If you really do think about it, Crossy is doing something that is unselfish in the extreme and amazingly generous.

He probably knew that he would never win a premiership at the Dees. Of course he would be working towards that goal but he must have known in his heart that it was unlikely to happen while he was a player at the club. He, along with Vince, was bought in to help Jonesy get a chop out in the midfield and the younger mids to develop at their own pace without being burdened with roles that they aren't ready for. He hasn't been playing just to fill in time. You can tell by the effort he has put forth in the first five games that he takes this seriously and this isn't merely a paycheck or some half hearted attempt to get back at the Dogs.
All the respect in the world for Crossy.

I love this bloke! To think the Bulldogs freely let him go... their loss, our gain clearly. Can't wait to see what gun players get delisted at the end of this season that we can snap up. ROK would have to be in Roos' sights?

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
