I seriously don't want the AFL getting Americanised.

Way too late for that. Everything they do at HQ is measured against, begged, borrowed and stolen from the US.

He will go to freo or meth coast and dominate now, sick of this go home factor stuff haha

Yes because they bent over backwards to recruit him in 2012 and offer rookie listed positions and both again overlooked him last year.

They would be well aware of his issues and history, neither of them will pick him up and I doubt whether Garlett will even play WAFL

No loss to anyone but himself, glad to see Hawks stuff up a draft selection for a change, Leopards never change spots.

It is a shame, guys with so much talent like Garlett and Jurah, they get people in their ear telling them how good they are.

They get to the big time and think that talent will get them through.

Talent only gets you in the door, hard work starts then. But these guys get in the door, get lauded with even more praise and it goes to their head.

They should've played held onto Garlett, played him on Ollie Wines, just to show him how far off he is in an AFL environment.

Garlett was more impressive than even Wines in under 18's, yet the difference between then in the AFL would be massive.

These immensely talented kids beat themselves.

Some young men are slow to mature, not so much in terms of body strength but more so in terms of making smart decisions and being able to cope with the rigors of the world in general. As an outsider looking in (as none of us really know) it would seem that Dayle Garlett falls into this category. Combine that with a background which may or may not have been as solid and supportive as that of other youngsters as well as huge expectations based purely on his ability and, in the final analysis, you have to feel for this lost boy.

His previous WAFL Club has knockedhim back for 2014 according to Finey on SEN last night.

Yes they have told Garlett he is not in their plans, other clubs may look at him but outside of Swan Districts he will be what is called a 10 point player. Each WAFL side has a points limit and if the player is from your draft zone they are only allocated 1 point.

It may be worth Dayle considering taking a year off footy and seeking professional guidance, not necessarily for a football return but for him to work on those aspects that are holding him back as an individual.

One can only imagine the meltdown, the absolute furore that would have appeared on this site had we recruited him then this happened without his even playing one game.

At least we got some genuine excitement from both Wona and Jurrah before they left us.

What is holding him back as an individual? Footy/ sport is not for everyone. Maybe he is a great individual and has other ideas on what life holds for him, he had a crack at it, saw what was required and didn't have that in him, some don't but that doesn't mean there is anything wrong with him.

We should get in his ear and try rookie him next year.

Yes... we will probably need a new 150 page topic by then.

The latest in WA is Dandaragan have lodged the paperwork for him to be transferred from Swan Districts (his WAFL club) to them to play Country footy. The Central Midlands Coastal Footy League is not the strongest league in rural WA

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
