Tappy?

I was there for the 1st half, Tapscott wasnt doing anything to impress me. Perhaps that improved after the break, Jetta and Big Max were doing well.

I still like the look of T.Davis.

Goal to Harmes who looks all right. He could be a player one day.

Meanwhile, Nev Jetta is all class coming out of defence. I think Max has called it a day but has done well. Pickles has worked hard and Mitch Clisby has bobbed up once or twice. Salem is a classy footballer - good disposal but probably didn't do enough today for mine.

Siren 7.10.52 to 13.13.91.

I'm going home. Please tell me I don't have to pay to get out of here.

More impressions later.

You mean something there today impressed you?

Sounds like Viney who was the only one in serious contention for round 1 won't be there.

Others who might be a shot in round 2 like Gawn, Jetta and Clisby are going ok.

That said Jetta will probably be unable to play without a LTI.

I'll take the positive of Gawn with the negative of Viney

Whispering Jack's half time exclusive.

Paul Roos is here with his two sons (I think). They just ordered sausage rolls and chips from the canteen and bought a pack of lollies (snakes?). I hope the club nutritionist isn't here as well.

Tony Elshaugh's hanging around, presumably spying for St. Kilda.

careful he's a Dbl Agent. he'll read what you say.

Needs to be smarter in his attack of the footy in a contest.

Joel Selwood hasn't changed much so happy for Viney to maintain his fierce attack on the footy

Well, I said I'd be back but there's not a lot to be said. There were very few mature big bodies in the team either in key positions or in the midfield mix. The team really lacked the good solid VFL types in the middle like Magner, Couch and even Nicholls last year. There was no ruck back up for Max Gawn or KP's up forward to lend some excitement and goal scoring like Hogan last year. Captain Evan Panozza was sorely missed in defence.

Casey's best for the day was Nev Jetta who was strong in defence. Will Pettopoulos was good in patches and Ed Morris was a recruit who looks as if he can play. Pacy goalkickers Best and Page hardly made an impression although the latter kicked a goal.

Gawn was the best of the big men but probably tired a bit in the end. He rucked well although the players at his feet at the stoppages didn't take advantage. It was a good hit out for him as, apart from one of the intraclub games, he has had little match practice. I suppose we have to see how he pulls up over the next couple of days. If we weren't so desperate for talls in the Melbourne team, it would be no issue but having seen what we had on the park last week, he will probably come under some consideration.

Michael Evans showed out in patches but he might struggle to displace any of the players in the midfield. I guess we'll wait and see what happens with Jack Viney but I think he really needed a solid run today to force himself into contention for the seniors next week. Mitch Clisby might also be a chance to play. Harmes looked ok but the rest like Kent, Strauss and Tapscott drifted in and out of the game and I think they need another run at this level.

The standard of the game was appalling and an eyesore. I don't know whether it was the windy conditions, the youth of the squad or something else which dictated the very negative play that had lots of players behind the ball and lots of chip passing and holding up the ball which saw plenty of mistakes and numerous opposition goals through turnovers. The disposal skills and poor decision making, especially into the wind was pretty hard to take.

I suppose that's the style of tight, defensive play that Roos wants instilled into the group. It's something that will have to be preservered with over time and until the group gets used to playing this way, there will be days like today or the senior AFL effort of last week at this ground.

All in all, I don't see the same sort of joy from Casey as we saw the last two seasons but they will improve over time.

The question of Gawn's tank has been raised before. Just how far short of AFL running requirements is he?

Gawn 2016.

Some way off.

Doesn't pay to draft projects.

But it is the MFC way.. Gawn will be a great ruckman, but it we'll have to be patient.

It is another lesson we have learnt. Hannah was a big miss for us. We all knew that.

Can anyone tell me if Salem played? How did he go?

Viney needs to play smarter, it is dissapointing.. Someone needs to have a good chat to Jack.

Today wasn't Vineys doing. He swooped on a tap from the ruck and got ambushed. Got ridden into the ground and hit his head on the hard surface. Off in the 1st 4 mins of the game. Probably suffering from a nice headache.

One thing we all love about Viney is his attack on the footy, if he alters that he will be a lesser player for it.

We will be a lesser side without that fierce attack.

GW$ have just beaten Sydney....

The afl will be happy to c a return on their multi million dollar investment.

When either GC or GWS win a premiership it will be the best (afl) MONEY can buy.

4 number 1 picks and 27 first rounders... Was going to happen eventually...

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
