Chip Frawley

Deemotivated

Recommended Posts

I don't really see defenders as game breakers, I would prefer to get a gun midfielder or key forward

It's a fair call because gamebreaking defenders are rare but they do exist. Matty Scarlett was definitely a gamebreaker.

And I agree, if 800k is going to be thrown at someone- a mid or forward would be the preferred option.

Not if you are Chip

I ask myself the question of how much would Frawley be worth in trade.

He's surely not worth anything north of pick 5, which is what we would likely receive. I like Jimmy, but it could well be a win win if he goes.

Apparently GWS are favorites to snare Fyfe due to there cap space by not getting Buddy.

Wouldn't be so sure, Pav, Sandilands and the Mcpharlin all approaching/already on veterans list. While they are a good team they are exactly that. Fyfe isn't a star yet neither are Barlow or Mundy as good as they are. Can't see why they can't afford to offer some bloody good coin to Fyfe. Freo have thrown money at forwards in recent years with no takers where did that money go. GWS have the luxury of the extra mil in the cap but they need to be smart, a host of talent coming off contract at differant stages in coming years. Will bd an interesting one. Edited by Al's Demons

Obviously we can afford to pay chippa now that Mitch has retired. But Would we still want to? If 800k is the going rate could there be more possibilities without him? Why pay a bloke just because we can afford to? If we don't believe Chip is worth it the chances of landing a Fyfe or Patton will improve.

I think on the open market, anything between 4-10..

But, it comes down to how much Frawley is worth for MFC.

Given the situation that we are currently in, Frawley is worth more to us - than open market value.

So if Frawley was to leave, then we should get pick 2-3.

I would prefer Frawley stay with us, but not for anything more than 550k.

Anyone capable of impacting a game like Stewie Dew did in the 2008 GF.

Frawley isn't that guy and for 800k, I'd expect somebody who could potentially do that.

Did you see Lake in last year's Grand Final?

Frawley could do that in his sleep.

we can't be forever in rebuild. Every club needs a mix of older guys to mentor and lead the next group.

We are bereft of leaders. And a recent history of treating them poorly. Not for a moment suggesting we pay $800k - way over the odds - but fair dinkum, are we hanging our hat on another 5 year build based on 2015 draft picks

Considering the spuds we draft i doubt it. Id take Frawley over any of our top 5 picks from the last 10 years. Morton, Watts, Trengove, Scully & Toumpas, you wouldnt get pick 50 for that lot combined.

Fyfe is a star. Don't kid yourself that he's not.

We're under a completely different football department.... Recruiters, coaches, board...

How long do we keep living in the past?

As far as hypotheticals go, if Frawley and his management are asking for the amount being spoken about, I'm all for letting him go.

We'd have some serious bargaining power with another top 5 pick and even if we go to the draft, I'd be confident we'd make the right decision.

As I've said, unless Frawley starts showing some signs of what I would call 'caring' onfield, I'm for him to move on.

Of course I'd much rather him turn around, play with passion and care factor and try his hardest to turn te club around... I just don't think he has the capacity to do that and I reckon he'd enjoy te free and easy ride of playing in a successful team we're his role and responsibility as a senior player wont be nearly as important.

for him to be a star he needs to kick the big time goals in the big time games, until then he is a good player.

Did you see him play against Geelong in last years final?

Probably did but to be honest can't remember. I'm assuming because you've brought it up he bagged a couple, that's great but for me the tag "star" is thrown around to much. In the grand final he missed easy shots which could have changed the outcome. To me that's what a "star" is, as for me he's not there yet, yes he's a bloody good players and he's only 22 so he's well on his way. People talk about mids then goal kicking mids, they have the whole package. There's no point Cloke being the number 1 contested mark in the game when he continually misses from 15 out straight in front. Purely my opinion.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
