Jesse Hogan - back injury

Well, in Hogan's case, it's not really a serious injury.

Says who.

We have seen innocuous injuries turn into months out at the Dees. I hope this is not another.

Amazing how it always seems to be us.

Dawes can never get on the park and when he does can't string games together. Clark, well no need to comment. We wait patiently for this kid for a year and then this.

Do a bit of googling and you will find out that what Hogan has is not serious... it only has the potential to become serious if he fails to rest.

While some will say yet another example of MFC incompetence, how about:

sore back, not getting better, better have a closer look, scan.....

....and others will no doubt enjoy saying yet another example of shocking / disgraceful recruiting : imagine drafting a guy who allows himself to be kneed in the back, and / or one who is such a wimp that he won't play regardless. Shocking club culture already rubbed off on him

That depends on if we are being told the truth.

I don't think the loss of the big forwards is that big an issue, if we get the ball in the hands on Vince, Toumpas and Watts i'll back them to find a target up forward, and Howe, Pederson, Fitzy, Kennedy-harris and co aren't terrible

It was massive today.

It was massive today.

Wouldn't have changed the result obviously. At worst would've padded the scoreboard but probably would've given some more confidence to the ball movement as well. For example when someone kicked to Pedersen who slid for the ball, had the ball deflect from his legs after dropping the mark and rebounded for a Hawthorn goal. There were plenty of times where a kick towards Fitzy or Pedersen resulted in a turnover and shot on goal at the other end.

... but what was massive was the fact that I didn't see any evidence of any of our talls limbering up for the Casey game later which means that those who did play in the intraclub game a fortnight ago like Gawn and Dawes and others like Jamar who was supposed to be close must have suffered relapses because they have gone from being on the way back to definitely being out for round 1.

At least nobody will be sucked into thinking we start against St. Kilda as odds on favourites.

Yep it will be Pedersen, Fitzpatrick and Howe come round 1. Although now I'm considering if we will be better just with Fitzpatrick and Howe and the extra small running target like Bail.

That shows the desperate situation we find ourselves in, we replace Pedersen with Bail.

Other than one is taller than the other I struggle to see the difference.

Someone rang into the Ox on SEN this arvo to say that his mail was Hogan would not play this year. The caller was p!ssed that the club was keeping its members in the dark about player injuries. Ox said hogan would be nearer 3-4 weeks than 6-8 weeks and the club said that he would begin running this weekend. Was all a bit of light banter and speculation.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
