Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

One of my "good sources" spoke to Mick Conlan at the Brighton Baths over Christmas. They both do those early morning swim sessions. Mick's words were basically this "Brisbane were not too worried to lose Clark as his body has always been close to injury. Said Mitch was a great guy but did not expect a long career from him. Has had the hammy problem for a fair while.

The other comment he said was that he rated Chris Dawes as a bargain and that his best footy should be ahead of him.

For those not old enough to remember Mick Conlan, he was a gun midfielder for Fitzroy in the 80's & early 90's and he was built like a Kelvinator Refrigerator.

I have fond memories watching Micky Conlan on the Winners running through opposition players with his head.

May be wrong but wasn't he the one who kicked the winning goal in an elimination final possibly to put the Bombers out in 86?

We have reserves!

Send in the next minion.

They all look a bit like Cam Pederson to me.

Recently reported that he was looking at a fwd role due to injuries and now will probably be needed down back too

Gone from being much maligned to much required. It is a weird world we live in

they aren't not mutually exclusive things. At this stage if Dunn, Frawley and McDonald stay fit then Pedersen will stay in reserve

Injuries are starting to mount. No good.

I'm most concerned about Clark. Things seemed to go well for a while, and now it looks like he's had another set back which the club doesn't seem keen to openly discuss.

I'm with you on that.

Time to take a hefty swig out of Bring-Back-Powell's glass.

Let's just play Jetta as a key defender, he'd be just as effective as Pedo.

I'm with the Clark doubters. It kills me to say it, but when he can do more than light jogging and stationary hand balling drills, I'll start to believe he'll play again. Round 1? I'd be astounded.

He was part of main training before xmas, that's where the optimism comes from.

Georgiou looking better by the minute 'oid.

How so?

Garland's prognosis is that he's out for between 4 to 6 weeks. At that stage, we'll still be a week or so from the start of the season. For Georgiou to replace him it would have to be because he's been placed on the long term injury list which means he would miss another 8 weeks. Are you suggesting you think this minor ankle surgery means he's going to miss 15 weeks and not 4 to 6?

No SP, they're your words, not mine. I'm simply suggesting that Georgiou will become useful insurance should the need for him as an elevated rookie arise at some point during the season.

I raised it because you were making a point in a thread about Garland's injury. At this stage he's no more or less useful as a promotable rookie as Nev Jetta and Harmes and King, whilst raw, might get call ups depending on why type of player if any we need to promote if the need arises.

I'd say that Garland's injury means that whilst we hope he'll be back for round 1 there's more opportunity for a medium defender in the preseason games. Considering Dunn is the only experienced player we have in that role I think Georgiou's importance is advanced. Jetta is behind a few other options for a small defender spot (Grimes, Terlich, Clisby, Strauss) and Harmes and King are raw. So whilst we don't need Georgiou in the side right now I do believe that Garland's injury is a small opening for him.

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
