I know a VFL umpire who although a Tigers supporter was very positive about Pedo when we picked him up, I know there is a fair difference from VFL to AFL but as a big solid forward or back he will be servicable. I cant see him playing when Hogan, Clark, Fitz and Dawes are available but he is capable of filling a gap and who knows he may take the next step. Well worth an investment I woudl have thought

I doubt that is going to happen very often.

Two are injury prone and one is a kid who has not yet played his first game

Pedo and Chip are pretty much the same age, weight, and height.

Both played 88% game time.

1 player had 25 touches at 92% efficiency. The other had 8 touches at 50% efficiency.

Can you guess which one is which?

One was down the end of the ground where the ball was all night the other was down the end of the ground where there were 40 inside 50's to 51 despite the possessions being nearly double. So which end of the ground where most of those dinky back and forward passes taking place. One was told to run away from the ball, one was running to the contests.

Can you guess which one is which?

Stat's are dangerous things in the wrong hands.

Some posters on here do, it was aimed at them......they can't seem to come to grips with some of the roles Roos may require for the team

Hahahahahaha.... Saty is in fine form today. Maybe you could have asked the entire club when they were at your place for a cuppa after family day?

There's your answer right there.

Pick whichever one does it for you or all of them but they are all reasons why stat's are rarely useful on their own and interpretations are dangerous.

Many far more competent players than Pedo have had to play that role.

Saty, you made your TV debut on the 7 news last night, think I saw the good lady as well.

I wasn't at the game and have only seen the second half on TV, so there is no way that I, nor any others who were not actually there, could comment on his off ball work, dummy leads and drawing his man away from Howe and other smaller forwards e.g. JKH without direct reward and without stats, but, tool as he is, Dermie does have a pretty good knowledge of the overall game and particularly the level of hard work required by a bigger forward, kept on and on (as he tends to do) regarding how Cam worked his butt off in the first half with those important things which accounted for him being knackered in the second half. Roos was also impressed.

I think I will prefer to take notice of of the opinions of those two experienced experts rather than some here who seem to love to take a jibe at him at every opportunity, but then this is a forum and there will be many opinions.

I guess fellow old dees don't generally have much reason but at this stage of a season I try to have at lest a little optimism. I know it is all too often unfounded but I will for now nonetheless.

Not sure how you can have much optimism of the durability of Clark or Dawes mono.

Both have the history to prove optimism with their bodies is not well founded.

The up side is I doubt all four will work well at the same time so two at any one time is probably the best choice.

At least we now have four worth their salt and the good problem of which ones to play.

Norm Smith, for one.

546 goals from 210 MFC games wasn't the stuff of a decoy.

Are you perhaps confusing his own on field work with that of the teams he coached? He invented, I beleive, the role of a decoy FF during the glory years 1954-1964, when we never had a dominant FF or one who kicked many goals.

Smith often played as a decoy for the bigger full-forwards, but he was still a potent scorer himself and had 7 or more goals in a game nine times.

I knew that before I searched for a link. That just happened to be the first that popped up. I'm sure if you wanted to dig deeper you'd find better and more comprehensive write ups on his playing career (no offence to Demon wiki, it's just that I'm pretty sure Red Fox covered it well, and I'm sure there are other articles).

I was simply supporting the point that playing decoy isn't a slap at you on your playing ability. It just means that the coach thinks you are the best man for that job. If you can do it and the opposition feels that they can't afford to leave you alone, then you are a valuable member of the side.

I was pretty impressed with Pedersen's guts on Fri night when he ran back with the flight, eyes on the ball, into a huge pack coming the other way.(q1)

Does that in any way make up for a misdemeanor in the past?

I think so.

Absolutely agree with this. There was another incident when he dived forward for a low mark between two opposition players and I thought he was going to die. On the field.

It immediately erased the head ducking episode IMO.

There has been some consternation about Cams nickname. Pedo seems a bit weird shouted out across the 'G.

I notice today that his twitter account says CamPedda so maybe the players call him Pedda and that is his nickname? Easy for people to miss or confuse the vowel at the end

Only a small thing but its a lot nicer than with an 'O' on the end. Go Pedda has a much better ring to it.

Just sayin....

Hopefully our injury list is minimal and we won't need to use any of his nicknames this year.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
