Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Great training report, Rog.

Well done in braving the elements, too.

I hope you get to many more this preseason.

Does anyone else think it's strange to hear the coach's son training with the players?

Funny, cos I definitely saw him in the white ribbon walk, stride by stride next to Watts.

Looked like he'd be holding his hand, if Watts would let him.

Not sure there's anything wrong with it... but I don't think it's standard fare.

Whats the story with Tyler Roos? Big Fs prospect for Sydney?

Or Brisbane (Fitzroy)? How old is this kid anyway?

not eligible for swans

roos only had 87 games for swans

is eligible for paddle pops because >100 games with royboys

that is if he elects to be a fs

Sounds ideal for him to head up there whilst his old man coaches us then come back when Roos is in another capacity with the club

I also attended training with a few hardy fans.

I don't really get into giving a blow by blow account of drills etc. Just observe a select few.

Hogan. Funny gait when he runs but otherwise was a real standout. Did a few things that made me pretty excited. Great 1st touch in awful conditions and gives maximum effort at all times. Kicking was great. His marking, better ...

Watts. Liked him today. Used the ball brilliantly. A couple of gathers below his knees at speed were a highlight but his general sense of purpose and running was impressive.

Toumpas. Looks slimmer through the hips and thighs and was covering the ground well. Thought his kicking was pretty poor but his voice and run was surprising to me. Ive met him previously and thought he was a great kid but it was great to see him speak up. Leading Teams influence?

Frawley. Gun. His encouragement of his teammates during the running drills was great.

Trengove. Still slowish but his real problem seems to be his lateral movement. Changing direction at speed is terrible. He lost a few contests based on this alone. Definitely looks slimmer though.

Mitch. Moving better than 2 weeks ago. He looks better than I thought he would but I am determined to keep a lid on it.

Cross. Loves to work. Made some of our better runners from previous years look a little silly. Worryingly, he doesn't look as slow at the MFC as he did at the Dogs. Kicking was better than advertised and was excellent at the competitive drills.

Michie. This bloke is massive. Kicking was a fraction inconsistent but runs well, covers the ground with enough speed and is very strong for a mid. Hogan aside, this guy was the highlight.

Nicholson. His skills are embarrassing. Reckon he missed 3 targets by a total of 50+ metres.

Howe. Playing as a 3rd/4th tall he will be dangerous. His marking today was top notch and he hit targets. It could just be me but he looks bigger than this time last year. Trained with a lot of intensity which I thought he lacked last preseason. Very impressive.

Bail. See Nicho.

The new draftees:

Salem. Neat kick in sloppy conditions but he is smaller in person than I thought. He needs to develop his body. Really quickly. Took a nice mark right in front of me which surprised and and then sliced a kick to a leading forward. Did it all very easily. Tools all seem to be there.

Jay KH. Smooth. Runs well and hit targets at will. He is small. I actually really like him. During the full length drill he duffed a kick, ran hard to be an option, got ignored, continued to run, received the ball and kicked a goal around the corner. Hands on knees and looking like he was going to vomit, he noticed the ball from the next drill spill, so he picked up the ball and repeated the same drill. No hesitation. A few of the older players didn't do that when the opportunity presented.

Pitt? Is that his name? Has a hitch in his kicking technique which will be difficult to eradicate but he just floats over the turf when he runs up and down the ground.

Overall the skill level was not bad, usual suspects aside, and the enthusiasm and voice was good. The style of play was kind of on show throughout the drills. Congested, competitive drills with quick hands and strong tackling and then full length drills with player breaking away from defence and kicking to a player leading toward goal. Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out how we will be playing.

Not sure who Pitt is supposed to be? Harmes, Max King? Interesting about Nicho I can't understand how full time footballers can not learn to kick a ball accurately over say 25 to 30 metres! I agree it is a real skill to deliver a ball over 50 meters to a target but 25!

I am really surprised how Trenners has deteriorated over the past couple of years.

2 years ago, I thought he was our toughest, talented mid fielder / forward I had seen at the MFC for many a year.

2013 was a real disaster. I am really worried that with giving up the captaincy, his confidence that remains is totally shot.

Throw in the new Mids we've added, no wonder his confidence is down.

I figured JJJ meant Jayden Hunt. Possibly got him confused with Jayden Pitt.

Young Freemantle mid, only played a few games. Forced to retire this year due to a heart condition.

Sorry to hear this news! Life can be cruel.

Sorry to hear this news! Life can be cruel.

As someone with a heart condition myself, I don't know that I'd be jumping to too many conclusions without knowing more. There are heart conditions and heart conditions, and just because playing AFL football might be a risk, it doesn't mean he/one can't live a full, more-or-less normal life. If you Google him, it seems that he's hopeful of finding a solution so that he can return to footy, but for the moment, it seems to be not possible.

Back to the training reports …. thanks to the couple who braved it.

That was something they were saying when they drafted him. Great kick and a surprisingly good mark for his size. Good to see it's true.

Trengove never has been quick, especially off the mark and this is severely hampering his ability to have any kind of impact at AFL level.

No he doesn't.

We need to develop his game and his body properly and if that involves him not playing until he is 20 then that is what good teams clubs do.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
