Me too ......

Freeman: number 3. - sounds good!

I really hope the rumours of the Pies picking him at #6 are untrue.

Freeman would be the best fit for us now. composure can be taught, speed can't.

What's happening with Maia Westrupp?

How does he get a guernsey if he's not on the playing list?

You jealous?

Hogan had one last year. Just one of those things I guess.

As Oprah once said:

He gets a number, Maia gets a number, everyone gets a number.

What happened to your Lennon crusade?

You have a good memory Fifty-5. Full marks for pulling me up on consistency, but I'm a reformed man! Oh yes, and I have changed my mind, as noted win this post in another thread. Having re-read it though, have some doubts about my parallels but anyway....

I tend to agree Machsy. I had been favouring Lennon for pick 9, but I have been convinced by looking at the available videos and reading opinion of people who should know, that Freeman would be perfect for us. Sort of a cross between (from my vintage) Greg Healey and Ricky Jackson (from the 1988 GF side), or more recently of Aaron Davey (in his prime) and Maloney (hopefully without the attitude, although I think I may have developed an "attitude" if I had to play under Neeld). Either way, I think he would add real grunt and speed to our mids, and complement what is looking like quite a promising ruck division. He, Tyson, Jones and Viney together I think would be quite a sight.

happy to see fitz stick with 48.

Yeah Cuthbertson and Jurrah were not quite the same when they went lower.

I don't think Cuthbertson took another mark after he changed to (I think) #9.

I remember being at the Geelong game and watching him play and my older brother got a man cruch on him. All we heard about for the next few weeks was Cuthbertson this and Cuthbertson that.

It didnt last long...

So well done to Kent and Clisby on their ascension to numbers in the teens and also Tyson, Cross, Michie and Vince on getting nice numbers. Love the feel of Vince in 23. And Hogan officially becomes number 1.

2 ways to treat the new boys. Either give them the good numbers or give them high numbers from 30+. I suppose the 3rd way is to give Salem a good number and the rest take high ones. I'd be all for putting Salem in the 3 because he'll be right next to Nathan Jones in games and at training. Kennedy Harris could have 24 to be between Vince and McDonald and Hunt could take 30 to be next to Grimes. Then put the rookies in 40 plus (Jetta back in 39 if he's redrafted).

I've never really thought about how number placings could be strategic to match people next to each other in locker rooms.

Anyway, thanks for posting this even though it reminded me that Pedersen and Brynes are still on our list.

Sometimes the MFC website is a bit of a hassle.

Hope Salem is 3 too.

All the numbers should be allocated now with the draftees arriving. They should have lockers. Rain people look forward to this information.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
