So, where to from here with pick 2?

3. We need to look back and see Roos' history at the draft/trade.

How did he go about getting Richards, Shaw, Mattner, etc...? What did he let go to get them?

Players like Hanneberry, Luke Parker, Reid - what number were they drafted or were there other draft trades involved?

Offered Mumford money that Geelong couldn't match.

Gave Richards a chance to play regular football that Essendon didn't, same with Kennedy and McGlinn.

Gave Shaw a fresh start which he needed.

Drafted and developed some good kids.

Money and opportunity will be what we will be looking at. I don't think anything will come of a swap for pick 2 unless a club like Adelaide really want Aish, GC could also be interested as he is a Clayton type player.

Why are so many obsessed with getting Jones outside of the fact he is Nathan's brother? I'd rather a Dunstan if he was around at our pick.

I think a better player than both will slide outside the first round, it's an even draft.

I hope Salem slides, it's possible, Taylor, etc.. There is a few players with a touch of class that could slide, we can hope.

No one thought Grundy would be there last year, so touch wood.

Rockliff and pick #26 for pick #2 and pick #36???

Perhaps a 3 way deal with another Victorian club involving Longer or Polec as i see Rockliff worth a mid to late first round pick which we don't have

Black and Brown on their last legs.

Staker too. Merrett not far off.

5 good young kids, high draft picks, all looking to bolt.

Turmoil at board level.

I'd be most worried about their forward line.

We make an attractive alternative if you're looking to move out of there and back to Victoria.

Roos as coach, established spine.

Forward line and back line set for talls, just needing a handful of smalls to come on to round it out.

Just need to sort the midfield.

We have Jones.

Trengove is better than he has shown, and players will know this.

Viney. Toumpas.

A bloke like Rockliff would be able to see the impact he'd be able to have.

I don't think it's a hard sell.

finals with the Lions. They will be in top 8 contention in 2014.

Not for me they won't.

Aish will take 3 years to help take us anywhere, & who said we give up P2?

Not everyone steps up at the same time. If you want to build long term success you have to have quality for age coming through every year. We missed out in Clarks trade year and need to bring more in this year whoever it is at pick 2.

I agree, & that is why i've pushed to recruit a couple of elders & use our picks to multiply our gets, eg P2 for player x + P8 ?

I don't want a thomas

.... get us a Chappy & a Cross, or a Del or an MWhite or Stokes or Ellis or Guerra type? FA's

use some of our picks/players for trades & delisted free agents.

I still want to get 2 earlyish draftees.

Nupp, they're miles away from being a serious finals contender, they have very few key position players of any quality,

we're closer to a flag than they are.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
